[00:00:17] It's Monday, you know what time it is. Front Runner Podcast Collective is back on the air. I am your humble host, Vince. And on today's podcast, we will be talking about the trade that went down over the weekend. DFS is coming to the La La, which is great news for a 40 year old LeBron James. Happy birthday to the king. We'll be getting to that.
[00:00:46] We'll also be talking about some of the latest rumors around the NBA. We have some things to talk about in regards to a couple teams as well that are out there that have been making news. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way. But before we get to all of these teams and what's going on in South Beach with Pat Riley and Jimmy Butler, we have to hit you with the social media.
[00:01:16] First on X and also on Blue Sky. At Front Runner PC. Also, for Sarea, you want to hit her at on X. At rea underscore punch FRPC. Now we were in some sort of void last week. Now, somehow I don't know where we were actually are. I would want to tell
[00:01:45] you that maybe we were in some sort of parallel universe and then it spit us out. So what's been going on? What's been happening? You know, has it has has anything happened around the NBA in the last five, six days?
[00:02:05] No, we got you covered. Now. Since the void has split us back out, we got a lot to get to. So how we're going to break down this week, we are going to give you the three wishes podcast on Wednesday that basically that is our holiday tradition.
[00:02:23] Last year we started it off. This will be the second year of it. And usually basically giving the NBA a couple notes on maybe how to fix the product, maybe on how to make the fan experience better.
[00:02:39] We never know what the three wishes will come up with. And then also we'll finish off the week with some draft. I know you guys have been clamoring for it. I know you guys want to hear some of my thoughts on some of the other guys other than Cougar Flagg. You want to hear my thoughts on Trey Johnson. I have a lot of them.
[00:03:03] Now, you want to hear my thoughts on Ace Bailey. I have a lot of them as well. Now, there's some guys down, down the draft board that we also need to dissect and get into. And they will be on that pod and that will be Friday.
[00:03:19] So your week is stacked. It is ready to go. And we can move on with today's podcast.
[00:03:27] The first thing that we are going to talk about is Jonathan Kaminga at Golden State, how hot he has been lately and what it actually means for the Warriors.
[00:03:39] Now, Kaminga has been clamoring for more time. He's been clamoring for what he would can be considered inconsistent play.
[00:03:51] Now, in the last two games, he has scored a career high back to back 34 points.
[00:03:58] Now, he did that against the Clippers, which they've been playing pretty good defense all year.
[00:04:04] He also did it against a formidable Suns team. Now, albeit they did not have Devin Booker in that game.
[00:04:12] And we'll get to that towards the end of this with Kaminga.
[00:04:17] But I want to stay on Kaminga a little bit. And the reason why I want to do that is because of this.
[00:04:23] We are supposed to take him as a serious the bridge player to what the new iteration of the Warriors is going to be.
[00:04:35] Now, Kaminga so far is shooting 52.4% as for his effective field goal percentage, which is a career high.
[00:04:46] He's also shooting 33.8% from three. That is not a leap.
[00:04:51] It has progressed a little bit.
[00:04:56] It's a little bit of an uptick from what his normal numbers are.
[00:05:00] It is pointing in the right direction.
[00:05:04] I still think there's some...
[00:05:07] How can I put this?
[00:05:10] Steve Kerr has this fluidity to the game that he likes to see.
[00:05:14] The one thing with Kaminga is that there's just raw, natural ability and athleticism.
[00:05:24] And sometimes you just need to allow that to be unbridled and allow it to flourish.
[00:05:30] Now, his 12.6% in his rebounding percentage is formidable for a wing.
[00:05:38] Especially somebody 6'8", 220 pounds.
[00:05:42] One of the things that Steve Kerr has been wanting from Jonathan Kaminga is to be more dynamic on the boards.
[00:05:52] He wanted him to be more aggressive on the boards.
[00:05:55] Now, he's been giving them that type of production as of late.
[00:06:01] And you've seen his minutes go up and also his production go up.
[00:06:06] That's the most important thing.
[00:06:08] Now, with all of that being said, what's some of the other areas that we need to talk about?
[00:06:16] His free throw shooting.
[00:06:18] Now, my wife, who is a known proponent of free throws being free.
[00:06:25] She does not understand when you shoot like less than 70%.
[00:06:29] Because no one's guarding you.
[00:06:33] But then I have to tell her, there are like 18,000 people in the stands.
[00:06:39] And they're screaming at the guy at the free throw line.
[00:06:42] And she goes, well, they're not guarding him either.
[00:06:48] They're just talking to him.
[00:06:51] I was like, valid point.
[00:06:53] You know, valid point.
[00:06:56] Now, his free throw shooting.
[00:06:58] After struggling early in the season.
[00:07:01] He simplified his routine with some help with Andrew Wiggins.
[00:07:04] Over the last four games, he's shooting 72.1% from the line.
[00:07:09] Which is a big step for him.
[00:07:11] I think a lot of it is that he gives, he expends so much energy getting to the hoop.
[00:07:17] He gets fouled.
[00:07:18] And he doesn't slow himself down once he gets to the line.
[00:07:23] Now, you're starting to see a more measured approach at the line.
[00:07:28] And it looks like we need to thank Andrew Wiggins.
[00:07:31] Look at Wiggs.
[00:07:32] Being a good teammate.
[00:07:34] Being a good vet.
[00:07:36] Like that.
[00:07:38] Now, Steve Kerr has some thoughts on our guy, Kaminga.
[00:07:41] And this is what he said.
[00:07:42] He said, this feels different to me.
[00:07:45] There is just a different force to his game.
[00:07:49] And I think that sums it up perfectly.
[00:07:52] Kaminga has always had the tools.
[00:07:53] And now he's starting to figure it out.
[00:07:55] And it's starting to impact winning.
[00:07:57] And that's the thing when you look at the Golden State Warriors at this point.
[00:08:04] They don't have a number two.
[00:08:06] He needs to be that number two.
[00:08:08] Curry can still carry the water most nights.
[00:08:11] But having that aggressive scorer.
[00:08:17] And having that scoring mentality.
[00:08:19] But also do not, you know, skimp on the other things.
[00:08:25] Don't skimp on the fundamentals.
[00:08:28] Don't skimp on the rebounding.
[00:08:30] Don't skimp on slowing yourself down at the free throw line.
[00:08:34] These are free points, my guy.
[00:08:36] You know what I'm saying?
[00:08:37] The more points you score, the more green that you're going to get at the end of the year.
[00:08:45] Remember, you're looking to be a free agent.
[00:08:49] And you're looking to cash in.
[00:08:51] So the more points you score, points equal paper.
[00:08:59] Jonathan, this is what kind of love that you get from the Front Runner Podcast Collective.
[00:09:06] We talk hoops.
[00:09:07] We talk about getting people paid.
[00:09:10] So therefore, that's our little, you know, that's our little, you know, gift to you over this holiday season.
[00:09:18] So the question for the Warriors is this.
[00:09:24] Can Kaminga sustain the level of play?
[00:09:28] And you can build that around Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
[00:09:32] Now, is he the bridge piece to the next era of Golden State basketball?
[00:09:38] Or is he the trade piece that gets you the piece to the next iteration of the new Warriors?
[00:09:49] That's a question for Warriors fans.
[00:09:52] Dub Nation, sound off.
[00:09:53] I want you to hit me up on X at Front Runner PC.
[00:09:57] Also, you can hit me up on Blue Sky at FrontRunnerPC.BSky.social.
[00:10:07] We are going to move ourselves along to one of the most catastrophic situations in the NBA.
[00:10:18] Now, I really feel bad for the people in New Orleans.
[00:10:23] Two main reasons.
[00:10:25] One, Katrina.
[00:10:28] Terrible situation.
[00:10:30] And I feel bad for New Orleans fans in this sense.
[00:10:35] Your sports are terrible right now.
[00:10:40] Spencer Rattler, quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.
[00:10:43] Not great.
[00:10:44] Saw that.
[00:10:46] That wasn't awesome.
[00:10:48] And now, you are looking down the barrel at a 5-27 New Orleans Pelicans fans.
[00:10:55] Now, what is going on in the Big Easy?
[00:10:59] Lots of things.
[00:11:01] One, we got Zion hurt again.
[00:11:05] Now, he's coming back.
[00:11:07] He's rambling up.
[00:11:10] So, he'll be back shortly.
[00:11:12] This will help because they've had just a rash of injuries the entire year.
[00:11:19] If it hasn't been Zion, it's been McCollum.
[00:11:23] It wasn't McCollum at the start of the year.
[00:11:25] It was Trey Murphy III.
[00:11:27] Now, he's back healthy and he's fine.
[00:11:30] Jose Alvarado has also been out.
[00:11:34] Jordan Hawkins has missed a lot of games.
[00:11:37] Also, broke his hand early in the season and had to wait to play.
[00:11:44] And now, he's playing again.
[00:11:46] So, this team has not been together the entire season.
[00:11:53] Obviously, they are waiting for troops to come back.
[00:11:57] But at this point, it's time to blow it up.
[00:12:02] Now, our guy Will Guillory with The Athletic, he did like Q&A lately.
[00:12:09] And it got me thinking to what is it that the Pelicans have?
[00:12:17] And what is it that they either need to start thinking about moving on from?
[00:12:26] And what is the core of what the team is going to look like next?
[00:12:31] Because I think we can say beyond a shadow of a doubt now that the Anthony Davis trade,
[00:12:39] even though they got a lot of picks, and we're going to go through some of the picks
[00:12:43] that are no longer with this team anymore.
[00:12:47] They lost this trade.
[00:12:50] How do you lose a trade when you get Lonzo Ball,
[00:12:54] you get Brandon Ingram,
[00:12:58] and you had Josh Hart,
[00:13:00] plus you controlled the Lakers draft,
[00:13:03] literally, for more than a presidential term?
[00:13:08] These are all questions that David Griffin have to answer.
[00:13:11] But the cool thing about that is,
[00:13:14] is that the ownership group,
[00:13:18] which is led by the widow of Mr. Benson,
[00:13:23] is more focused on the Saints right now.
[00:13:26] So he might have some time to restructure this situation.
[00:13:30] So how do you go about it if you're David Griffin?
[00:13:34] I'm going to put myself in David Griffin's shoes.
[00:13:37] And some people will say,
[00:13:39] well, Vince, you are a Mr. Big Blow It Up guy.
[00:13:43] You're right.
[00:13:44] I am Mr. Big Blow It Up.
[00:13:46] But there are certain pieces with the New Orleans Pelicans
[00:13:49] that I personally think will be very, very intriguing for a lot of teams.
[00:13:58] But I hope that David Griffin can hold on to these pieces.
[00:14:03] And that is the foundation to the next iteration of the New Orleans Pelicans.
[00:14:09] So let's get to it a little bit.
[00:14:13] Now, the team is getting under a lot of scrutiny.
[00:14:16] Obviously, Zion Williamson missing a lot of games,
[00:14:19] not being in shape most of the time.
[00:14:21] It's always been some sort of issue.
[00:14:24] Then you got Brandon Ingram,
[00:14:26] who they've been trying to trade since the summer.
[00:14:30] And CJ McCollum, which I liked it when everybody was healthy.
[00:14:35] But the problem with CJ McCollum has always been is that he is an undersized two guard.
[00:14:42] He can play point.
[00:14:44] And in this game that we play positionless basketball, I guess is okay.
[00:14:50] But the problem is, is that you need to stick somebody by him
[00:14:54] that is going to be very athletic
[00:14:56] and also be able to hound guards that are shifty
[00:15:00] and guards that can get into the paint
[00:15:03] and want to put a lot of pressure on the paint.
[00:15:06] Because we have a drive and kick league, right?
[00:15:10] It is about paint touches,
[00:15:13] drawing the defense to you,
[00:15:15] and then kicking out for the three.
[00:15:18] CJ McCollum has been
[00:15:21] a below average defensive player since he came into the league.
[00:15:26] It's not about not trying.
[00:15:28] He does try.
[00:15:29] He just doesn't have the physical tools
[00:15:32] to be able to be that guy
[00:15:34] who's on ball
[00:15:35] and be able to really dee somebody up.
[00:15:39] So you have him.
[00:15:40] He's a fit that is
[00:15:42] kind of wonky.
[00:15:45] We talked about the absence of Zion
[00:15:47] and we'll get back to him in a second.
[00:15:50] But we need to talk about Brandon Ingram.
[00:15:52] Now, Ingram, he has been solid,
[00:15:57] but his ball-dominant style might not fit well
[00:16:00] with teams like Denver or Golden State
[00:16:02] who rely on quick reads and ball movement.
[00:16:06] And with the contract extension looming,
[00:16:09] teams might be hesitant to commit long-term to him.
[00:16:13] This is what has been said
[00:16:14] the entire offseason
[00:16:16] and all into this year.
[00:16:18] We have been saying that Brandon Ingram
[00:16:21] needs to understand
[00:16:23] who and what he is.
[00:16:26] Now, when we say this,
[00:16:29] people say,
[00:16:30] well, Vince,
[00:16:30] that seems very disrespectful
[00:16:32] to Brandon Ingram
[00:16:33] who's putting up buckets
[00:16:35] and has been putting up buckets
[00:16:37] for the Pelicans
[00:16:38] since he's been there.
[00:16:40] My rebuttal to those people
[00:16:42] who say,
[00:16:43] Vince,
[00:16:44] you're just hating.
[00:16:47] He doesn't play
[00:16:49] more than 64 games a year.
[00:16:52] Check the stats.
[00:16:54] When's the last time
[00:16:55] Brandon Ingram played
[00:16:57] 68 plus games?
[00:16:59] I'll wait.
[00:17:00] Go check basketball reference right now.
[00:17:03] That's right, fam.
[00:17:05] Hasn't happened.
[00:17:07] Has not happened.
[00:17:08] So,
[00:17:10] as much as a
[00:17:12] carry the male type of guy he is,
[00:17:14] you can't,
[00:17:15] you can't rely on him
[00:17:17] because you're gonna,
[00:17:18] you understand that a quarter of the season
[00:17:20] he's gonna miss.
[00:17:22] And with his ball dominant style,
[00:17:26] you gotta put a lot of pieces around him
[00:17:29] that can shoot.
[00:17:30] Okay.
[00:17:33] Give me the team
[00:17:34] that is contending,
[00:17:37] that has
[00:17:38] that formula
[00:17:41] that Brandon can go into
[00:17:43] and then
[00:17:44] they would offer him
[00:17:45] a contract extension.
[00:17:48] That's the problem.
[00:17:49] The other thing is this,
[00:17:50] is that Brandon Ingram
[00:17:51] is also 6'8",
[00:17:53] 6'9",
[00:17:54] and has like a 7'4",
[00:17:56] wingspan,
[00:17:56] and he is absolutely
[00:18:00] average
[00:18:01] to below average
[00:18:02] on defense,
[00:18:03] which is almost impossible
[00:18:05] for somebody his size.
[00:18:08] So,
[00:18:09] it's not like he's a two-way player.
[00:18:11] He definitely is a bucket getter.
[00:18:15] He doesn't drive offense
[00:18:17] for others very well.
[00:18:19] He is a pretty much
[00:18:20] an independent scorer,
[00:18:22] so he's kind of a,
[00:18:23] to me,
[00:18:23] a third guy
[00:18:25] on a team.
[00:18:26] Well,
[00:18:27] when you're a third guy
[00:18:28] on the team,
[00:18:29] that doesn't necessarily mean
[00:18:31] that you make
[00:18:32] 45
[00:18:33] to 50 million dollars.
[00:18:36] That means
[00:18:37] that you,
[00:18:38] you settle
[00:18:39] for
[00:18:40] that
[00:18:41] 28
[00:18:42] or 25
[00:18:44] to 30
[00:18:46] each.
[00:18:47] Now,
[00:18:48] might be hard
[00:18:49] to hear that,
[00:18:50] Brandon.
[00:18:51] I know.
[00:18:52] I loved you
[00:18:54] when you were
[00:18:54] baby Laker.
[00:18:55] I thought there was
[00:18:57] a lot more
[00:18:58] to the game
[00:18:58] than what we've seen.
[00:19:00] The problem is,
[00:19:02] is that
[00:19:03] you've never
[00:19:04] committed on defense.
[00:19:05] You've never
[00:19:07] shown
[00:19:08] any
[00:19:09] propensity
[00:19:10] to
[00:19:12] get yourself
[00:19:13] to a level
[00:19:13] where you could be
[00:19:14] just
[00:19:16] barely above
[00:19:17] average
[00:19:18] on defense,
[00:19:19] which is,
[00:19:19] like I said,
[00:19:20] almost impossible
[00:19:21] with your
[00:19:22] measurements.
[00:19:24] It's about
[00:19:25] effort
[00:19:25] and you've
[00:19:27] chosen to put
[00:19:28] all your energy
[00:19:29] into the
[00:19:29] offensive end
[00:19:30] and the funny
[00:19:31] part about it is,
[00:19:33] it's about
[00:19:34] your offense.
[00:19:35] It's not about
[00:19:36] getting others
[00:19:37] open.
[00:19:37] It's about how
[00:19:38] many buckets
[00:19:39] you can get.
[00:19:41] So that makes
[00:19:42] you hard to
[00:19:43] trade,
[00:19:43] my man.
[00:19:44] Because
[00:19:45] if you still
[00:19:46] consider yourself
[00:19:47] a number one,
[00:19:50] you're going to
[00:19:50] see tough
[00:19:51] sledding out
[00:19:52] there in the
[00:19:53] open market
[00:19:54] come July.
[00:19:55] July.
[00:19:57] So,
[00:19:57] it's going to
[00:19:58] be a dark
[00:19:59] winter in
[00:20:00] New Orleans.
[00:20:01] But,
[00:20:02] if somebody
[00:20:04] who can talk
[00:20:05] to Brandon
[00:20:05] Ingram and
[00:20:06] his agency
[00:20:07] and say,
[00:20:08] hey,
[00:20:08] listen,
[00:20:09] we have a
[00:20:09] squad for
[00:20:10] you,
[00:20:10] but this is
[00:20:11] kind of what
[00:20:12] you need to
[00:20:12] do once
[00:20:14] you get
[00:20:14] here.
[00:20:16] Can Brandon
[00:20:17] Ingram succeed?
[00:20:18] Could he
[00:20:19] succeed in
[00:20:20] Denver?
[00:20:21] Yeah,
[00:20:22] 100%.
[00:20:24] There's not
[00:20:24] a chance
[00:20:25] in hell
[00:20:25] that Brandon
[00:20:27] Ingram could
[00:20:28] not succeed
[00:20:28] in Denver
[00:20:29] with Nikola
[00:20:30] Jokic there.
[00:20:32] And he's
[00:20:33] probably a
[00:20:33] piece that
[00:20:34] they desperately
[00:20:35] could use
[00:20:36] at this
[00:20:36] present time.
[00:20:38] Because they
[00:20:38] are woeful
[00:20:39] on offense.
[00:20:41] It is
[00:20:41] sometimes
[00:20:42] bad.
[00:20:43] If Jokic
[00:20:44] is out of
[00:20:45] the game,
[00:20:45] I don't even
[00:20:46] know what
[00:20:46] that team
[00:20:47] looks like.
[00:20:49] Looks like
[00:20:50] a real average
[00:20:50] college team
[00:20:51] person.
[00:20:52] But,
[00:20:54] that's
[00:20:54] neither
[00:20:54] here nor
[00:20:55] there.
[00:20:56] Brandon
[00:20:56] Ingram needs
[00:20:57] to either
[00:20:59] come to
[00:21:00] some
[00:21:01] realization
[00:21:01] himself,
[00:21:03] his agent
[00:21:04] needs to
[00:21:04] talk this
[00:21:05] talk for
[00:21:06] him,
[00:21:06] and then
[00:21:07] maybe
[00:21:07] double back
[00:21:08] and talk
[00:21:08] to Brandon
[00:21:09] and say,
[00:21:09] hey,
[00:21:09] listen,
[00:21:10] this is
[00:21:10] kind of
[00:21:11] what this
[00:21:11] team is
[00:21:11] looking for
[00:21:12] you.
[00:21:12] If you're
[00:21:13] looking to
[00:21:13] get the
[00:21:14] dollars or
[00:21:14] close to
[00:21:15] the dollars
[00:21:15] that you're
[00:21:16] looking for,
[00:21:17] this is
[00:21:17] kind of
[00:21:18] the things
[00:21:18] they're
[00:21:18] looking for
[00:21:19] you to
[00:21:19] do.
[00:21:20] And if
[00:21:21] he's not
[00:21:21] willing to
[00:21:22] do that,
[00:21:23] he's going
[00:21:23] to be
[00:21:23] stuck in
[00:21:23] New Orleans.
[00:21:25] Because no
[00:21:27] one in the
[00:21:27] league is
[00:21:29] real,
[00:21:30] real excited
[00:21:31] about Brandon
[00:21:32] Ingram.
[00:21:33] Trust me,
[00:21:34] before I
[00:21:35] jumped on
[00:21:36] this mic,
[00:21:36] I checked.
[00:21:38] Now,
[00:21:39] CJ McCollum,
[00:21:41] a shooting
[00:21:42] guard that
[00:21:44] averages
[00:21:44] 20.8
[00:21:45] points a
[00:21:46] game,
[00:21:46] 6.5
[00:21:47] assists,
[00:21:48] but he
[00:21:48] has a
[00:21:49] hefty price
[00:21:49] tag of
[00:21:50] $30 million
[00:21:50] that is
[00:21:52] through the
[00:21:53] 25-26
[00:21:54] season,
[00:21:55] which
[00:21:57] complicates
[00:21:58] his trade
[00:21:59] value.
[00:22:01] Again,
[00:22:02] it's going
[00:22:04] to be a
[00:22:04] team that
[00:22:05] is either
[00:22:06] A,
[00:22:07] in that
[00:22:08] middle tier
[00:22:09] that's looking
[00:22:10] to make a
[00:22:10] jump up
[00:22:11] into,
[00:22:13] okay,
[00:22:13] maybe we
[00:22:14] can out
[00:22:14] punch the
[00:22:15] big boys
[00:22:15] with what
[00:22:16] we have
[00:22:17] now.
[00:22:18] Or,
[00:22:19] it will be
[00:22:19] a team
[00:22:20] that is
[00:22:21] looking for
[00:22:21] a real
[00:22:22] solid vet
[00:22:22] that maybe
[00:22:25] is,
[00:22:26] they might
[00:22:29] dabble in
[00:22:30] the plan
[00:22:31] a little
[00:22:31] bit,
[00:22:32] but next
[00:22:34] year is
[00:22:34] the year,
[00:22:34] but they
[00:22:35] need kind
[00:22:35] of like a
[00:22:36] strong
[00:22:37] veteran
[00:22:38] presence
[00:22:38] to guide
[00:22:39] them through
[00:22:40] the crucible,
[00:22:42] which is
[00:22:42] like late
[00:22:44] April
[00:22:44] basketball,
[00:22:46] which is
[00:22:46] considered
[00:22:46] pseudo
[00:22:47] playoff
[00:22:48] basketball,
[00:22:48] and then
[00:22:49] the plan
[00:22:50] and whatnot.
[00:22:51] The problem
[00:22:52] is that
[00:22:53] because of
[00:22:55] the salary
[00:22:55] cap,
[00:22:56] because of
[00:22:57] the CBA,
[00:22:58] and I
[00:22:59] know it
[00:22:59] sounds like
[00:23:00] a broken
[00:23:00] record on
[00:23:01] this podcast,
[00:23:02] but we've
[00:23:03] been telling
[00:23:03] you about
[00:23:05] the CBA
[00:23:06] and the
[00:23:07] boogeyman
[00:23:07] that it
[00:23:08] is for
[00:23:09] two years.
[00:23:10] We told
[00:23:11] you what
[00:23:12] was coming
[00:23:13] down the
[00:23:13] pipe,
[00:23:14] and we
[00:23:15] said that
[00:23:16] a couple
[00:23:17] years ago
[00:23:18] before this
[00:23:19] happened,
[00:23:21] or before
[00:23:21] this was
[00:23:22] thought of,
[00:23:24] trading a
[00:23:25] CJ McCollum
[00:23:26] or whatever
[00:23:26] the case may
[00:23:27] be,
[00:23:27] nobody cared.
[00:23:29] It was not
[00:23:29] a big deal.
[00:23:30] Oh,
[00:23:31] we'll throw
[00:23:31] first round
[00:23:32] picks to
[00:23:32] it,
[00:23:32] we'll do
[00:23:33] this,
[00:23:34] we'll do
[00:23:34] that.
[00:23:36] Now,
[00:23:37] because of
[00:23:38] the CBA,
[00:23:39] and because
[00:23:40] of how
[00:23:41] punitive
[00:23:41] the first
[00:23:42] apron
[00:23:42] is,
[00:23:43] and also
[00:23:44] the second
[00:23:45] apron,
[00:23:45] which is
[00:23:46] death.
[00:23:47] It is
[00:23:48] death
[00:23:48] unless your
[00:23:49] team is
[00:23:50] rock solid.
[00:23:52] Basically,
[00:23:53] no holes,
[00:23:56] a la
[00:23:57] Boston,
[00:23:57] but they're
[00:23:58] struggling
[00:23:59] right now,
[00:24:00] so you
[00:24:01] see how
[00:24:02] that goes.
[00:24:03] But you
[00:24:04] can't touch
[00:24:05] that second
[00:24:06] apron unless
[00:24:06] your team
[00:24:07] is pretty
[00:24:07] much solid,
[00:24:08] it doesn't
[00:24:09] have a lot
[00:24:09] of injury
[00:24:10] history to
[00:24:11] speak of,
[00:24:12] and it's
[00:24:13] young enough
[00:24:13] where it's
[00:24:14] aging into
[00:24:15] prime years,
[00:24:16] or it's in
[00:24:18] the middle of
[00:24:18] its prime
[00:24:18] years and
[00:24:19] still has a
[00:24:20] couple years
[00:24:20] left.
[00:24:21] If that
[00:24:22] doesn't sound
[00:24:23] like you,
[00:24:24] you probably
[00:24:24] should be in
[00:24:25] the second
[00:24:25] apron.
[00:24:27] So,
[00:24:28] taking on
[00:24:28] $30 million
[00:24:29] is not as
[00:24:30] easy as it
[00:24:31] once was.
[00:24:32] Even though
[00:24:33] that C.J.
[00:24:34] McCollum would
[00:24:34] help a team
[00:24:36] like Orlando,
[00:24:37] he would
[00:24:38] probably help
[00:24:39] a team,
[00:24:41] I'm trying
[00:24:41] to think,
[00:24:42] well,
[00:24:42] I mean,
[00:24:43] we can throw
[00:24:44] Denver in the
[00:24:45] mix,
[00:24:46] another team
[00:24:47] that he
[00:24:47] would definitely
[00:24:49] help would be
[00:24:50] the Clippers,
[00:24:51] right?
[00:24:51] Another
[00:24:51] offensive guy.
[00:24:53] But the
[00:24:54] problem is,
[00:24:55] again,
[00:24:55] is that
[00:24:56] contract.
[00:24:56] It will
[00:24:57] be an
[00:24:59] impediment
[00:25:00] to move
[00:25:00] him.
[00:25:01] Now,
[00:25:02] I'm not
[00:25:02] saying that
[00:25:02] there aren't
[00:25:06] very,
[00:25:07] you know,
[00:25:08] strategic and
[00:25:09] innovative ways
[00:25:10] you can do
[00:25:11] it.
[00:25:11] Maybe you
[00:25:12] have a
[00:25:13] trade exception
[00:25:14] that eats
[00:25:15] some of that
[00:25:15] salary as
[00:25:17] far as
[00:25:17] that's
[00:25:17] concerned.
[00:25:18] But,
[00:25:19] it's going
[00:25:20] to be
[00:25:20] extraordinary
[00:25:21] circumstances
[00:25:22] to get
[00:25:22] C.J.
[00:25:23] McCollum out
[00:25:23] of New Orleans.
[00:25:25] So,
[00:25:25] where does
[00:25:26] that leave
[00:25:27] you?
[00:25:28] Well,
[00:25:28] if you
[00:25:29] can't trade
[00:25:29] Zion,
[00:25:30] because I'm
[00:25:30] going to
[00:25:30] tell you
[00:25:30] right now,
[00:25:31] trading
[00:25:31] Zion is
[00:25:32] off the
[00:25:33] table.
[00:25:34] Two reasons.
[00:25:36] No trade
[00:25:36] value.
[00:25:37] And the
[00:25:38] other reason
[00:25:38] is this.
[00:25:40] He is
[00:25:41] your draw
[00:25:43] in New Orleans.
[00:25:45] Remember,
[00:25:45] this is a
[00:25:46] football city.
[00:25:48] they like
[00:25:49] the Saints,
[00:25:50] they like
[00:25:51] Tulane,
[00:25:52] and they
[00:25:52] like LSU
[00:25:54] football.
[00:25:55] That's what
[00:25:55] they like in
[00:25:56] New Orleans.
[00:25:57] They also
[00:25:58] like drinking,
[00:26:00] having a good
[00:26:01] time,
[00:26:02] a little
[00:26:03] music here
[00:26:04] and there.
[00:26:05] There's a lot
[00:26:05] to do in
[00:26:06] New Orleans.
[00:26:07] I think
[00:26:08] Anne Rice
[00:26:08] spent a lot
[00:26:09] of time
[00:26:09] down there.
[00:26:11] So,
[00:26:12] ton to do
[00:26:13] in New
[00:26:13] Orleans.
[00:26:15] They need
[00:26:15] to keep
[00:26:16] their draw,
[00:26:16] which is
[00:26:17] Zion,
[00:26:17] Williamson,
[00:26:18] and then
[00:26:18] you need
[00:26:19] to reshape
[00:26:19] it around
[00:26:20] it.
[00:26:20] Now,
[00:26:20] we talked
[00:26:21] about people
[00:26:22] that you
[00:26:22] should keep.
[00:26:23] Well,
[00:26:24] here's the
[00:26:24] problem.
[00:26:25] We just
[00:26:25] talked about
[00:26:26] how hard
[00:26:26] it's going
[00:26:27] to be
[00:26:27] to trade
[00:26:27] one of
[00:26:28] your guys.
[00:26:29] How do
[00:26:30] you trade
[00:26:31] them?
[00:26:31] You start
[00:26:32] attaching
[00:26:33] younger,
[00:26:34] less expensive
[00:26:36] pieces to
[00:26:37] them.
[00:26:38] That makes
[00:26:38] them more
[00:26:40] palatable
[00:26:41] to take
[00:26:41] because really
[00:26:43] what that
[00:26:43] team wants
[00:26:44] is the
[00:26:45] younger guy
[00:26:45] who is
[00:26:47] a
[00:26:47] financially
[00:26:49] more
[00:26:50] controllable
[00:26:50] asset.
[00:26:52] So,
[00:26:53] if that
[00:26:54] is what
[00:26:54] they're trying
[00:26:55] to do,
[00:26:56] you got
[00:26:56] to be
[00:26:57] very
[00:26:57] careful
[00:26:58] about
[00:26:59] who
[00:26:59] you're
[00:27:00] jettisoning
[00:27:01] off of
[00:27:01] this team
[00:27:02] for whatever
[00:27:03] the next
[00:27:03] iteration
[00:27:04] is going
[00:27:04] to be.
[00:27:05] Keep
[00:27:06] in mind,
[00:27:07] great
[00:27:08] draft
[00:27:08] class
[00:27:09] if you
[00:27:10] are going
[00:27:10] to stub
[00:27:11] your toe
[00:27:11] which New
[00:27:13] Orleans
[00:27:13] well,
[00:27:14] they did
[00:27:15] more than
[00:27:15] stub
[00:27:16] their toe.
[00:27:16] They stepped
[00:27:17] in it.
[00:27:17] They stepped
[00:27:18] in a big
[00:27:19] pile of
[00:27:20] it,
[00:27:20] right?
[00:27:22] But,
[00:27:23] great year
[00:27:24] for this
[00:27:25] to happen.
[00:27:26] You have
[00:27:26] a really
[00:27:28] talented
[00:27:28] draft
[00:27:29] class
[00:27:29] and because
[00:27:31] your record
[00:27:31] is so
[00:27:31] dismal,
[00:27:32] you're going
[00:27:33] to be
[00:27:33] pretty much
[00:27:34] towards the
[00:27:34] top of
[00:27:35] that draft.
[00:27:36] Pretty
[00:27:37] guaranteed
[00:27:37] at this
[00:27:38] point.
[00:27:39] I mean,
[00:27:40] this ship
[00:27:41] has sank
[00:27:41] in New
[00:27:42] Orleans.
[00:27:43] But,
[00:27:44] you don't
[00:27:45] want to
[00:27:45] give away
[00:27:46] pieces that
[00:27:46] you're going
[00:27:47] to need
[00:27:47] for that
[00:27:48] next iteration
[00:27:48] of the
[00:27:48] team.
[00:27:50] Like,
[00:27:50] Jordan
[00:27:51] Hawkins.
[00:27:52] You know,
[00:27:52] this team
[00:27:53] let go
[00:27:54] of Dyson
[00:27:54] Daniels.
[00:27:56] That was
[00:27:57] a pick
[00:27:57] from the
[00:27:57] Lakers.
[00:27:59] Yeah.
[00:28:01] Yeah.
[00:28:02] Lonzo Ball
[00:28:02] went to
[00:28:03] Chicago.
[00:28:04] Yes,
[00:28:05] the injuries
[00:28:06] held him
[00:28:06] back,
[00:28:06] but,
[00:28:09] if Lonzo
[00:28:10] was healthy,
[00:28:11] he would
[00:28:12] be the
[00:28:13] most sought
[00:28:14] after trade
[00:28:16] piece on
[00:28:17] the market
[00:28:19] if he was
[00:28:20] healthy.
[00:28:22] Shots out
[00:28:23] to Lonzo
[00:28:23] Ball.
[00:28:24] Get healthy,
[00:28:25] my guy.
[00:28:26] Now,
[00:28:27] back to
[00:28:28] New Orleans.
[00:28:29] Don't
[00:28:30] give away
[00:28:30] the farm.
[00:28:32] Trey
[00:28:32] Murphy
[00:28:33] III
[00:28:33] off
[00:28:34] limits.
[00:28:35] Ease
[00:28:35] Mesey,
[00:28:36] who has
[00:28:36] been
[00:28:37] an
[00:28:38] absolute
[00:28:38] steal
[00:28:39] for them
[00:28:40] in the
[00:28:41] first round.
[00:28:42] They got
[00:28:42] him later
[00:28:42] in the
[00:28:42] first round.
[00:28:47] Don't
[00:28:48] let him
[00:28:48] go.
[00:28:49] Right?
[00:28:51] Do not
[00:28:51] let go
[00:28:52] of
[00:28:53] Herb
[00:28:53] Jones
[00:28:54] to get
[00:28:55] rid
[00:28:55] of
[00:28:56] Brandon
[00:28:56] Ingram.
[00:28:59] Like,
[00:29:00] find other
[00:29:00] ways to
[00:29:01] do it.
[00:29:02] Even
[00:29:03] if you
[00:29:03] have to
[00:29:05] maybe
[00:29:05] trade a
[00:29:06] first to
[00:29:06] get back
[00:29:07] seconds or
[00:29:08] whatever the
[00:29:08] case may
[00:29:09] be.
[00:29:09] I don't
[00:29:09] care what
[00:29:10] the optus
[00:29:11] look like.
[00:29:11] But if
[00:29:13] you're
[00:29:13] trading
[00:29:13] Brandon
[00:29:14] Ingram,
[00:29:16] trade
[00:29:16] Murphy III,
[00:29:17] Jordan
[00:29:18] Hawkins,
[00:29:18] and Herb
[00:29:19] Jones are
[00:29:19] off the
[00:29:20] table.
[00:29:20] Do not
[00:29:21] trade them.
[00:29:22] That's just
[00:29:23] my thoughts
[00:29:24] on what
[00:29:25] is going
[00:29:26] on in
[00:29:27] New Orleans.
[00:29:28] Now,
[00:29:29] for my
[00:29:29] Pelicans
[00:29:30] fans out
[00:29:31] there,
[00:29:31] it's been
[00:29:32] so bad.
[00:29:34] What do
[00:29:35] you want to
[00:29:35] see happen
[00:29:36] to this
[00:29:36] team?
[00:29:38] I hate
[00:29:39] to say
[00:29:39] it,
[00:29:40] is
[00:29:40] Willie
[00:29:40] Green
[00:29:41] going to
[00:29:42] stay?
[00:29:44] And by
[00:29:45] the way,
[00:29:45] he shouldn't
[00:29:46] be the
[00:29:46] fall guy
[00:29:46] for this.
[00:29:47] He will
[00:29:48] be,
[00:29:49] but is
[00:29:50] it a
[00:29:50] complete
[00:29:51] overhaul
[00:29:52] of the
[00:29:53] organization
[00:29:54] does David
[00:29:54] Griffin have
[00:29:55] to go
[00:29:55] to?
[00:29:57] Because
[00:29:58] remember,
[00:29:59] again,
[00:29:59] Lonzo Ball
[00:30:00] was there,
[00:30:00] he's no
[00:30:01] longer there.
[00:30:01] Josh Hart
[00:30:02] was there,
[00:30:03] he's no
[00:30:03] longer there.
[00:30:04] You're
[00:30:04] trying to
[00:30:05] trade
[00:30:05] Brandon
[00:30:05] Ingram.
[00:30:06] These
[00:30:06] are the
[00:30:07] three pieces
[00:30:07] that you
[00:30:08] got back
[00:30:08] for Anthony
[00:30:09] Davis.
[00:30:10] Now,
[00:30:10] the draft
[00:30:11] picks.
[00:30:12] Dyson
[00:30:13] Daniels was
[00:30:14] one of
[00:30:14] them.
[00:30:16] What
[00:30:16] happened?
[00:30:17] He's in
[00:30:18] Atlanta.
[00:30:19] Like,
[00:30:20] four steals
[00:30:20] a game,
[00:30:21] this dude.
[00:30:25] They didn't
[00:30:26] do very
[00:30:26] well with
[00:30:27] that.
[00:30:27] They
[00:30:28] didn't
[00:30:28] do very
[00:30:29] well with
[00:30:29] the haul
[00:30:29] they got.
[00:30:30] Now,
[00:30:31] I asked
[00:30:32] this question
[00:30:33] of Rob
[00:30:33] Palenka
[00:30:34] in our
[00:30:35] last pod,
[00:30:35] I'll ask
[00:30:36] the same
[00:30:36] thing of
[00:30:37] Pelicans
[00:30:37] fans.
[00:30:38] Do you
[00:30:38] want
[00:30:39] David
[00:30:40] Griffin
[00:30:40] to
[00:30:42] create
[00:30:42] or craft
[00:30:43] the next
[00:30:44] iteration
[00:30:44] of the
[00:30:45] New Orleans
[00:30:46] Pelicans?
[00:30:47] Hit us
[00:30:48] up on
[00:30:48] social
[00:30:48] and let
[00:30:49] us know.
[00:30:51] Now,
[00:30:52] we need
[00:30:52] to move
[00:30:53] along to
[00:30:53] Utah
[00:30:54] because
[00:30:55] there's a
[00:30:55] couple
[00:30:55] things that
[00:30:56] we need
[00:30:56] to talk
[00:30:56] about.
[00:30:58] Sometimes
[00:31:00] drafts
[00:31:01] go wrong.
[00:31:02] Sometimes
[00:31:03] we think
[00:31:04] we're getting
[00:31:04] something
[00:31:05] and it
[00:31:06] turns out
[00:31:07] we're getting
[00:31:07] something
[00:31:08] completely
[00:31:08] different.
[00:31:10] Utah
[00:31:11] this last
[00:31:12] year
[00:31:12] was
[00:31:13] herald
[00:31:14] for their
[00:31:15] draft class
[00:31:16] because
[00:31:16] they got
[00:31:17] Cody
[00:31:18] Williams
[00:31:18] who is
[00:31:20] related to
[00:31:21] Jalen
[00:31:22] Williams who
[00:31:22] is about
[00:31:24] to be a
[00:31:24] superstar
[00:31:25] at OKC.
[00:31:27] J-Dub
[00:31:28] is doing
[00:31:28] his thing
[00:31:29] and he's
[00:31:30] doing it
[00:31:30] nasty
[00:31:32] in OKC.
[00:31:34] Now,
[00:31:34] his brother
[00:31:35] on the
[00:31:35] other hand
[00:31:36] along with
[00:31:37] Isaiah
[00:31:38] Collier who
[00:31:38] they got
[00:31:39] from USC
[00:31:41] have
[00:31:42] struggled
[00:31:42] mightily.
[00:31:44] Now,
[00:31:45] Cody
[00:31:45] Williams has
[00:31:46] an effective
[00:31:46] field goal
[00:31:47] percentage
[00:31:47] of just
[00:31:48] 38.7%
[00:31:49] and he
[00:31:50] is shooting
[00:31:51] a dismal
[00:31:52] 20.5%
[00:31:54] from three.
[00:31:56] Meanwhile,
[00:31:57] Isaiah
[00:31:57] Collier
[00:31:58] has a
[00:31:59] turnover
[00:31:59] rate of
[00:32:00] 36.1%,
[00:32:02] the highest
[00:32:03] of non-centers
[00:32:04] in 40
[00:32:05] years.
[00:32:08] Now,
[00:32:09] Isaiah
[00:32:09] Collier
[00:32:10] played one
[00:32:11] year at
[00:32:11] USC
[00:32:12] when he
[00:32:13] was coming
[00:32:14] out of
[00:32:14] high school.
[00:32:15] He was
[00:32:15] one of
[00:32:16] the top
[00:32:16] like 10
[00:32:17] best high
[00:32:19] school players
[00:32:20] in the
[00:32:20] nation.
[00:32:21] He was
[00:32:22] a bigger
[00:32:23] guard,
[00:32:24] 6'3",
[00:32:25] 215
[00:32:27] pounds,
[00:32:27] so
[00:32:27] physically
[00:32:28] a
[00:32:29] specimen.
[00:32:33] He's not
[00:32:33] a point
[00:32:34] guard.
[00:32:35] He's more
[00:32:35] of a
[00:32:35] shooting
[00:32:36] guard,
[00:32:36] but then
[00:32:37] you gotta
[00:32:38] have a
[00:32:38] big point
[00:32:38] guard next
[00:32:39] to him.
[00:32:39] Who did
[00:32:40] we just
[00:32:40] talk about?
[00:32:41] CJ McCollum.
[00:32:43] Now,
[00:32:43] if Isaiah
[00:32:44] Collier is
[00:32:45] going to be
[00:32:45] a six-man,
[00:32:46] which that's
[00:32:47] probably what
[00:32:48] he is
[00:32:48] destined for,
[00:32:51] because
[00:32:52] you're six-man,
[00:32:53] you want him
[00:32:54] to be
[00:32:54] aggressive.
[00:32:55] You want
[00:32:55] him to get
[00:32:55] into the
[00:32:56] paint.
[00:32:56] You want
[00:32:57] him to get
[00:32:58] downhill.
[00:32:58] You want
[00:32:59] him to
[00:32:59] just put
[00:33:00] pressure on
[00:33:00] the defense.
[00:33:02] And usually
[00:33:03] when you
[00:33:03] have a
[00:33:04] second group
[00:33:04] out there,
[00:33:05] you're
[00:33:06] running more
[00:33:07] stuff.
[00:33:08] Unless you
[00:33:09] have somebody
[00:33:10] special who
[00:33:11] can create
[00:33:11] offense for
[00:33:12] himself and
[00:33:13] others.
[00:33:14] Usually,
[00:33:15] if you create
[00:33:16] an offense for
[00:33:17] yourself and
[00:33:17] others,
[00:33:18] probably a
[00:33:19] starter.
[00:33:20] Now,
[00:33:22] Collier has
[00:33:23] that pedigree.
[00:33:25] He's still
[00:33:25] very,
[00:33:26] very young.
[00:33:26] This could
[00:33:27] just be a
[00:33:28] learning year.
[00:33:29] I've always
[00:33:30] said that
[00:33:31] guards have
[00:33:33] it the hardest
[00:33:33] coming in to
[00:33:34] lead.
[00:33:35] Because,
[00:33:36] think about
[00:33:37] what you're
[00:33:38] coming into.
[00:33:39] Okay?
[00:33:40] Now,
[00:33:41] in the same
[00:33:41] division that
[00:33:43] Collier is in,
[00:33:45] he's in the
[00:33:46] division with
[00:33:47] Anthony Edwards.
[00:33:49] Oh,
[00:33:50] that's fun.
[00:33:51] Oh,
[00:33:52] he's in the
[00:33:52] same division
[00:33:53] as Jamal
[00:33:54] Murray.
[00:33:55] Oh,
[00:33:55] he has to run
[00:33:55] around screens.
[00:33:56] He has to
[00:33:56] run around
[00:33:57] Gilgit.
[00:33:59] Like,
[00:33:59] 70 times a
[00:34:00] game.
[00:34:01] That can't
[00:34:02] be a lot of
[00:34:02] fun.
[00:34:03] Anthony
[00:34:04] Simons.
[00:34:05] Think what
[00:34:05] you want
[00:34:06] about
[00:34:06] Portland.
[00:34:07] Anthony
[00:34:08] Simons is
[00:34:09] a hard
[00:34:09] handle.
[00:34:10] If you
[00:34:10] have that
[00:34:11] defensive,
[00:34:13] that's your
[00:34:14] assignment.
[00:34:17] So,
[00:34:17] you got all
[00:34:18] these guys
[00:34:18] that are in
[00:34:20] your division
[00:34:22] and this is
[00:34:23] what you're
[00:34:23] dealing with.
[00:34:24] Oh,
[00:34:24] by the way,
[00:34:25] we didn't even
[00:34:25] talk about
[00:34:26] Shea Gilgit's
[00:34:27] Alexander,
[00:34:28] who's also
[00:34:29] in that
[00:34:30] division.
[00:34:32] So,
[00:34:33] I don't
[00:34:34] expect Isaiah
[00:34:35] Collier to
[00:34:35] have this
[00:34:36] great year.
[00:34:36] Now,
[00:34:37] 36.1%
[00:34:38] as far as
[00:34:39] turnover rate.
[00:34:40] Now,
[00:34:41] that's where
[00:34:42] I have a
[00:34:42] problem.
[00:34:46] You got to
[00:34:46] take care of
[00:34:47] the basketball.
[00:34:48] Now,
[00:34:49] we know that
[00:34:50] if Isaiah
[00:34:50] Collier would
[00:34:51] have went
[00:34:51] to UCLA,
[00:34:53] Mick Cronin
[00:34:55] tells all the
[00:34:56] people,
[00:34:57] all the players,
[00:34:58] I don't
[00:34:58] care what
[00:34:59] you are,
[00:34:59] five-star,
[00:35:00] I don't
[00:35:01] care how
[00:35:01] much NIL
[00:35:02] money you
[00:35:03] get.
[00:35:03] If you
[00:35:04] don't value
[00:35:05] the basketball,
[00:35:07] I want to
[00:35:08] introduce you
[00:35:09] to Mr.
[00:35:10] Bench.
[00:35:11] Mr.
[00:35:11] Bench,
[00:35:12] this is
[00:35:13] player whoever.
[00:35:15] You and
[00:35:17] Mr.
[00:35:17] Bench will
[00:35:18] become very
[00:35:19] acquainted
[00:35:20] if you
[00:35:21] don't take
[00:35:22] care of the
[00:35:22] basketball.
[00:35:22] football.
[00:35:24] Now,
[00:35:25] at USC
[00:35:25] last year,
[00:35:26] it was
[00:35:27] very broken.
[00:35:29] Edenfield
[00:35:31] didn't have
[00:35:32] any control
[00:35:33] over that
[00:35:33] team.
[00:35:34] You had
[00:35:35] the situation
[00:35:36] with Bronny.
[00:35:37] A lot of
[00:35:38] people talk
[00:35:39] around that
[00:35:40] USC program
[00:35:41] last year
[00:35:42] and they
[00:35:42] said it
[00:35:43] was a
[00:35:43] complete
[00:35:44] mess.
[00:35:46] So,
[00:35:47] a couple
[00:35:47] years with
[00:35:48] Will Hardy,
[00:35:49] hopefully,
[00:35:51] some of
[00:35:51] this will
[00:35:52] go away
[00:35:53] for Isaiah
[00:35:53] College.
[00:35:54] Now,
[00:35:55] Cody Williams,
[00:35:56] on the
[00:35:56] other hand,
[00:35:57] was a
[00:35:57] lottery pick.
[00:35:58] Now,
[00:35:59] as a
[00:35:59] lottery pick,
[00:36:00] did you
[00:36:00] expect more
[00:36:01] from him?
[00:36:02] Yeah,
[00:36:02] I do.
[00:36:03] Because he
[00:36:04] showed flashes
[00:36:05] at Colorado
[00:36:06] that were
[00:36:07] better than
[00:36:07] this.
[00:36:08] Now,
[00:36:09] he is
[00:36:11] physically
[00:36:12] not as
[00:36:13] strong as
[00:36:14] his brother.
[00:36:15] So,
[00:36:16] he's a
[00:36:16] little more
[00:36:17] lanky,
[00:36:18] which,
[00:36:19] then,
[00:36:20] I think,
[00:36:20] it's a
[00:36:21] maturity issue.
[00:36:23] as he
[00:36:24] grows,
[00:36:24] as he
[00:36:25] gets
[00:36:25] stronger,
[00:36:26] all this
[00:36:27] will come
[00:36:27] along.
[00:36:27] Now,
[00:36:28] here's the
[00:36:29] other thing.
[00:36:30] How much
[00:36:31] Cody Williams
[00:36:32] would have
[00:36:33] played if
[00:36:34] Taylor Hendricks
[00:36:35] wouldn't have
[00:36:36] that horrific
[00:36:37] injury?
[00:36:39] Get well
[00:36:40] soon,
[00:36:42] my guy,
[00:36:42] Taylor Hendricks.
[00:36:44] Man,
[00:36:45] I hope
[00:36:46] rehab is
[00:36:47] going well,
[00:36:48] my guy.
[00:36:49] so now,
[00:36:53] Will Hardy
[00:36:53] seems to be
[00:36:54] committed to
[00:36:55] letting these
[00:36:55] guys develop
[00:36:56] even if it
[00:36:57] means more
[00:36:58] losses in
[00:36:58] the short
[00:36:59] term.
[00:36:59] But now,
[00:37:01] the Jazz
[00:37:02] can afford
[00:37:02] to be patient
[00:37:03] because you
[00:37:04] know what
[00:37:04] is at the
[00:37:06] end of this
[00:37:06] rainbow.
[00:37:07] All right?
[00:37:08] Big names.
[00:37:10] We whisper
[00:37:11] them because
[00:37:13] we whisper
[00:37:14] people who
[00:37:14] are about to
[00:37:15] make a lot
[00:37:16] of money.
[00:37:16] You know
[00:37:16] what I'm
[00:37:16] saying?
[00:37:17] We don't
[00:37:18] talk loud
[00:37:19] about it.
[00:37:19] Right?
[00:37:20] Because they
[00:37:21] about to
[00:37:21] make cash.
[00:37:23] But this
[00:37:24] is the time
[00:37:25] for this
[00:37:26] type of
[00:37:26] situation
[00:37:26] to happen.
[00:37:27] Now,
[00:37:28] Will Hardy
[00:37:29] has been
[00:37:30] dealt a
[00:37:31] bunch of
[00:37:31] injuries
[00:37:32] just like
[00:37:32] a lot
[00:37:33] of teams
[00:37:33] and this
[00:37:35] was going
[00:37:36] to be
[00:37:36] the year
[00:37:37] that they
[00:37:37] embraced
[00:37:38] the tank
[00:37:39] and they
[00:37:39] have.
[00:37:40] Now,
[00:37:41] we move
[00:37:42] along to
[00:37:43] what we
[00:37:44] have come
[00:37:45] to talk
[00:37:45] about.
[00:37:46] The Lakers
[00:37:48] have made
[00:37:49] a trade.
[00:37:50] Oh,
[00:37:51] my God.
[00:37:53] Or,
[00:37:55] as
[00:37:55] somebody
[00:37:57] in the
[00:37:57] Valley would
[00:37:58] say,
[00:37:58] right?
[00:37:59] Let me see
[00:37:59] if I can
[00:37:59] get this.
[00:38:01] Oh,
[00:38:03] my God.
[00:38:05] The Lakers
[00:38:06] did make a
[00:38:07] trade.
[00:38:07] So,
[00:38:08] two things
[00:38:09] with this.
[00:38:10] It has
[00:38:10] been
[00:38:12] so long
[00:38:13] since the
[00:38:14] Lakers
[00:38:14] have made
[00:38:14] a trade
[00:38:15] of any
[00:38:15] substance
[00:38:16] whatsoever.
[00:38:18] It's been
[00:38:18] two and
[00:38:18] a half
[00:38:19] years.
[00:38:20] It's been
[00:38:21] a long
[00:38:21] time.
[00:38:22] But,
[00:38:23] they have
[00:38:24] done it.
[00:38:25] The Lakers
[00:38:26] shipped out
[00:38:27] D'Angelo
[00:38:27] Russell,
[00:38:28] which is
[00:38:29] like the
[00:38:29] worst
[00:38:30] Kev
[00:38:30] Seagree
[00:38:31] in the
[00:38:31] NBA.
[00:38:32] They traded
[00:38:33] him to
[00:38:33] the Brooklyn
[00:38:34] Nets for
[00:38:34] Dorian
[00:38:35] Finney
[00:38:35] Smith
[00:38:36] and
[00:38:36] Shaq
[00:38:37] Milton.
[00:38:38] Now,
[00:38:39] I will
[00:38:39] tell you
[00:38:40] this.
[00:38:41] A couple
[00:38:41] things that
[00:38:42] I do
[00:38:42] know.
[00:38:43] If you
[00:38:44] look at
[00:38:44] the Lakers
[00:38:44] and you
[00:38:45] look before
[00:38:46] the trade,
[00:38:48] I know
[00:38:49] there's a
[00:38:49] lot of
[00:38:49] D'Angelo
[00:38:50] Russell
[00:38:50] stands out
[00:38:51] there and
[00:38:51] you'll say,
[00:38:52] oh,
[00:38:52] well,
[00:38:52] the Lakers
[00:38:53] made him
[00:38:53] the scapegoat
[00:38:54] and all
[00:38:55] this and
[00:38:55] everything.
[00:38:56] Here's the
[00:38:56] thing.
[00:38:57] D'Angelo
[00:38:58] Russell was
[00:38:59] always
[00:39:00] expendable
[00:39:02] for two
[00:39:03] or three
[00:39:03] reasons.
[00:39:04] One popped
[00:39:04] up.
[00:39:06] One just
[00:39:07] popped up
[00:39:08] and we'll
[00:39:08] get to
[00:39:09] it in a
[00:39:09] second.
[00:39:10] But,
[00:39:11] D'Angelo
[00:39:12] Russell
[00:39:13] sometimes
[00:39:13] gets very
[00:39:14] very lazy
[00:39:16] or cavalier
[00:39:17] with the
[00:39:18] basketball.
[00:39:19] He goes
[00:39:21] into the
[00:39:21] spurts
[00:39:22] or turnovers
[00:39:23] that just
[00:39:25] don't make
[00:39:26] sense.
[00:39:27] Now,
[00:39:27] another thing
[00:39:29] that D'Angelo
[00:39:29] Russell has
[00:39:31] had an issue
[00:39:31] with,
[00:39:32] he did
[00:39:32] curtail it
[00:39:33] a little bit
[00:39:34] this year,
[00:39:34] but,
[00:39:36] he tends
[00:39:37] to shoot
[00:39:37] the ball
[00:39:39] with a
[00:39:40] lot of
[00:39:40] time on
[00:39:41] the shot
[00:39:41] clock
[00:39:41] and not
[00:39:43] with a
[00:39:43] lot of
[00:39:44] people in
[00:39:44] position
[00:39:46] because he's
[00:39:47] in the
[00:39:47] flow state.
[00:39:49] Okay,
[00:39:51] but you
[00:39:52] don't have
[00:39:53] green light
[00:39:54] to do
[00:39:55] that.
[00:39:56] That's the
[00:39:57] thing that
[00:39:58] D'Angelo
[00:39:59] Russell,
[00:40:00] that's the
[00:40:00] piece that
[00:40:01] he never
[00:40:01] understood
[00:40:02] stood in
[00:40:03] all his
[00:40:03] stops.
[00:40:05] Now,
[00:40:06] seven and
[00:40:07] a half
[00:40:07] years,
[00:40:08] five trades.
[00:40:09] He's
[00:40:10] been to
[00:40:10] Brooklyn now
[00:40:11] twice.
[00:40:15] He's a
[00:40:16] really smart
[00:40:17] player.
[00:40:17] I think he's
[00:40:19] a very
[00:40:19] talented
[00:40:19] player.
[00:40:20] The problem
[00:40:21] is that
[00:40:22] D'Angelo
[00:40:23] Russell sees
[00:40:24] himself as
[00:40:26] like a
[00:40:26] number one
[00:40:26] or number
[00:40:27] two option.
[00:40:27] problem is
[00:40:29] is that
[00:40:30] D'Angelo
[00:40:30] Russell is
[00:40:31] an ancillary
[00:40:32] piece,
[00:40:33] maybe even
[00:40:34] a six
[00:40:34] man.
[00:40:36] It's
[00:40:36] probably the
[00:40:37] best role
[00:40:37] for him,
[00:40:38] but he
[00:40:40] has chosen
[00:40:40] to fight
[00:40:42] this the
[00:40:42] whole way
[00:40:43] through,
[00:40:43] which I
[00:40:44] understand.
[00:40:44] Hey,
[00:40:45] you got a
[00:40:45] lot of
[00:40:45] pride.
[00:40:46] You have
[00:40:46] a lot of
[00:40:47] belief in
[00:40:47] yourself.
[00:40:48] You think
[00:40:49] that placed
[00:40:50] in the
[00:40:50] proper
[00:40:51] setting and
[00:40:53] everything was
[00:40:54] kind of built
[00:40:54] around you.
[00:40:55] Here's the
[00:40:56] problem.
[00:40:56] No one
[00:40:57] sees you
[00:40:58] that way.
[00:40:59] If a
[00:41:00] GM saw
[00:41:01] you that
[00:41:01] way and
[00:41:02] said,
[00:41:02] you know
[00:41:02] what?
[00:41:03] Okay,
[00:41:04] we're going
[00:41:05] to take a
[00:41:05] shot with
[00:41:05] him and
[00:41:06] then what
[00:41:07] we're going
[00:41:07] to do is
[00:41:07] build it
[00:41:08] around.
[00:41:10] Think about
[00:41:12] what I
[00:41:12] just said.
[00:41:14] Like you
[00:41:15] guys are
[00:41:15] laughing right
[00:41:16] now.
[00:41:16] I can't
[00:41:17] even imagine
[00:41:18] somebody
[00:41:19] building a
[00:41:19] team around
[00:41:20] D'Angelo
[00:41:21] Russell.
[00:41:22] That will
[00:41:23] work.
[00:41:25] You think
[00:41:26] it's a
[00:41:26] farce.
[00:41:26] You think
[00:41:27] that it's
[00:41:27] completely
[00:41:28] far-fetched.
[00:41:30] The problem
[00:41:31] is that
[00:41:32] you see
[00:41:32] it.
[00:41:33] The problem
[00:41:34] is that
[00:41:34] I see
[00:41:35] it.
[00:41:37] But the
[00:41:37] real problem
[00:41:38] is D'Angelo
[00:41:40] doesn't see
[00:41:41] it.
[00:41:43] And that's
[00:41:44] always been
[00:41:44] the case.
[00:41:45] And that
[00:41:45] was the
[00:41:45] case with
[00:41:46] the Lakers.
[00:41:46] And they
[00:41:47] got tired.
[00:41:49] And I'm
[00:41:49] not saying
[00:41:50] that he
[00:41:51] was a good
[00:41:51] soldier this
[00:41:52] year.
[00:41:52] He did
[00:41:53] everything
[00:41:54] they asked
[00:41:54] of him.
[00:41:55] but just
[00:41:56] like Cody
[00:41:57] Rhodes did
[00:41:58] when The
[00:41:58] Rock came
[00:41:59] in and
[00:42:00] almost stole
[00:42:02] Cody Rhodes
[00:42:03] WrestleMania
[00:42:04] moment last
[00:42:05] year.
[00:42:05] Right?
[00:42:08] You have
[00:42:10] D'Angelo
[00:42:11] Russell
[00:42:11] pounding.
[00:42:12] Maybe not
[00:42:13] all the time
[00:42:14] but the
[00:42:14] body language
[00:42:15] sometimes not
[00:42:16] great.
[00:42:17] And it's
[00:42:17] hard to say
[00:42:18] hey man
[00:42:19] get in the
[00:42:19] boat with
[00:42:20] us.
[00:42:21] Roll the
[00:42:21] same way
[00:42:22] with us
[00:42:22] because this
[00:42:23] is what's
[00:42:24] going to
[00:42:24] make us
[00:42:25] successful.
[00:42:26] Well he's
[00:42:26] really not
[00:42:27] feeling it.
[00:42:29] He's really
[00:42:30] not feeling
[00:42:31] that.
[00:42:32] The Lakers
[00:42:33] now have
[00:42:34] Dorian Finney
[00:42:34] Smith and
[00:42:35] Shaq Milton.
[00:42:36] People say
[00:42:37] well offensively
[00:42:39] that's a
[00:42:39] downgrade but
[00:42:40] it is a
[00:42:42] downgrade
[00:42:42] offensively in
[00:42:43] one way.
[00:42:44] But it
[00:42:45] creates spacing
[00:42:46] because here's
[00:42:47] the thing
[00:42:47] Dorian Finney
[00:42:48] Smith albeit
[00:42:49] only a 37%
[00:42:52] shooter
[00:42:52] in corner
[00:42:54] threes.
[00:42:55] He would
[00:42:56] still be one
[00:42:57] of the best
[00:42:57] shooters on
[00:42:57] the Lakers.
[00:42:59] Now here's
[00:42:59] where Dorian
[00:43:00] Finney
[00:43:00] Smith
[00:43:01] super power
[00:43:02] kicks in.
[00:43:03] Pick and
[00:43:04] pop.
[00:43:05] Above the
[00:43:06] break threes
[00:43:07] Dorian Finney
[00:43:09] Smith is
[00:43:10] shooting 45%
[00:43:11] from three
[00:43:12] point land.
[00:43:14] Ah.
[00:43:16] Who is the
[00:43:17] all time
[00:43:18] leader in
[00:43:19] assists to
[00:43:20] three point
[00:43:21] shooters?
[00:43:22] you guessed
[00:43:23] it.
[00:43:24] Happy birthday
[00:43:25] to the
[00:43:26] king.
[00:43:27] 40 year old
[00:43:28] LeBron James
[00:43:28] is the all
[00:43:29] time assist
[00:43:30] leader to
[00:43:32] specifically
[00:43:33] three point
[00:43:34] shooters.
[00:43:35] The driving
[00:43:35] kick game
[00:43:36] has been
[00:43:37] strong with
[00:43:38] LeBron James
[00:43:39] since he
[00:43:41] came into
[00:43:41] the league.
[00:43:42] You know
[00:43:42] what I'm
[00:43:43] saying?
[00:43:43] So now
[00:43:44] with that
[00:43:45] being said
[00:43:45] let's look at
[00:43:47] the trade a
[00:43:47] little bit
[00:43:47] closer.
[00:43:51] Dorian
[00:43:52] Finney
[00:43:52] Smith is
[00:43:53] going to
[00:43:53] give the
[00:43:53] Lakers
[00:43:54] some defensive
[00:43:54] versatility.
[00:43:56] Obviously if
[00:43:56] you look at
[00:43:57] just the
[00:43:58] two players
[00:43:58] and this
[00:43:59] is I
[00:44:00] know this
[00:44:00] seems like
[00:44:01] a pilot
[00:44:01] on D'Angelo
[00:44:03] Russell but
[00:44:03] it's not.
[00:44:04] I'm just
[00:44:05] specifically
[00:44:06] looking at
[00:44:07] the two
[00:44:07] players.
[00:44:09] Dorian
[00:44:10] Finney
[00:44:10] Smith
[00:44:11] on ball
[00:44:12] presence.
[00:44:13] He doesn't
[00:44:14] get lost
[00:44:15] when it
[00:44:16] comes to
[00:44:17] switches
[00:44:17] and his
[00:44:18] assignment.
[00:44:19] We saw
[00:44:20] that a
[00:44:21] lot with
[00:44:21] D'Angelo
[00:44:22] Russell.
[00:44:23] We also
[00:44:24] gained a
[00:44:25] couple inches
[00:44:26] in height.
[00:44:28] Dorian
[00:44:28] Finney
[00:44:28] Smith
[00:44:29] 6'7".
[00:44:30] D'Angelo
[00:44:31] Russell
[00:44:32] 6'5".
[00:44:34] Also
[00:44:35] you're going
[00:44:35] to get
[00:44:36] more
[00:44:36] crashing
[00:44:38] of
[00:44:39] what JJ
[00:44:40] wants
[00:44:41] with his
[00:44:41] offense.
[00:44:43] So
[00:44:43] what he
[00:44:44] wants
[00:44:44] is that
[00:44:45] he wants
[00:44:46] his
[00:44:46] corner
[00:44:47] shooters
[00:44:47] to crash
[00:44:48] in
[00:44:48] from
[00:44:48] the
[00:44:49] corners.
[00:44:50] Well
[00:44:50] Dorian
[00:44:51] Finney
[00:44:51] Smith
[00:44:52] is a
[00:44:52] rugged
[00:44:52] guy.
[00:44:53] He likes
[00:44:53] to go
[00:44:53] ahead
[00:44:53] and
[00:44:53] rebound
[00:44:54] and
[00:44:54] do
[00:44:54] that
[00:44:54] whole
[00:44:55] thing.
[00:44:55] So
[00:44:56] this
[00:44:56] is
[00:44:56] just
[00:44:56] a
[00:44:57] fit
[00:44:57] piece.
[00:44:58] This
[00:44:58] is not
[00:44:59] well
[00:44:59] D'Angelo
[00:45:00] is less
[00:45:01] talented
[00:45:02] than
[00:45:02] DFS.
[00:45:03] He
[00:45:03] is not.
[00:45:04] He
[00:45:04] is more
[00:45:05] talented.
[00:45:06] He
[00:45:06] has an
[00:45:07] offensive
[00:45:07] game
[00:45:07] that is
[00:45:08] crazy
[00:45:09] good
[00:45:09] if it's
[00:45:10] allowed
[00:45:11] to
[00:45:11] flow.
[00:45:11] The
[00:45:12] problem
[00:45:12] is
[00:45:13] that
[00:45:13] there's
[00:45:14] some
[00:45:14] downside
[00:45:14] to
[00:45:15] allowing him
[00:45:16] to do
[00:45:16] that.
[00:45:17] There's
[00:45:17] going to
[00:45:18] be some
[00:45:18] turnovers.
[00:45:19] There's
[00:45:19] going to
[00:45:20] be some
[00:45:20] bad
[00:45:20] nice
[00:45:20] shooting.
[00:45:22] And
[00:45:22] can
[00:45:22] you
[00:45:23] sustain
[00:45:23] that
[00:45:24] with
[00:45:24] the
[00:45:24] talent
[00:45:25] around
[00:45:25] him?
[00:45:26] Problem
[00:45:27] is
[00:45:27] that
[00:45:27] if
[00:45:27] you're
[00:45:28] building
[00:45:28] around
[00:45:28] him,
[00:45:29] you
[00:45:30] probably
[00:45:30] don't
[00:45:30] have
[00:45:31] enough
[00:45:31] talent
[00:45:31] to
[00:45:32] sustain.
[00:45:33] And
[00:45:34] that's
[00:45:34] all there
[00:45:35] is to
[00:45:35] be said.
[00:45:36] Dorian
[00:45:36] Finney
[00:45:36] Smith
[00:45:37] fits
[00:45:38] the
[00:45:38] Lakers
[00:45:38] better.
[00:45:46] Blaine
[00:45:46] thrower
[00:45:47] off
[00:45:47] the
[00:45:47] bench
[00:45:48] there's
[00:45:48] your
[00:45:49] sixth
[00:45:49] man.
[00:45:50] Now
[00:45:50] if
[00:45:51] Gabe
[00:45:51] Vincet
[00:45:52] comes
[00:45:52] back
[00:45:52] from
[00:45:53] his
[00:45:53] oblique
[00:45:53] injury
[00:45:54] there's
[00:45:55] your
[00:45:56] off
[00:45:57] the
[00:45:58] bench
[00:45:58] guard.
[00:45:59] The
[00:45:59] other
[00:46:00] thing
[00:46:00] that
[00:46:00] D'Angelo
[00:46:01] Russell
[00:46:01] was to
[00:46:02] the
[00:46:02] Lakers
[00:46:03] that a
[00:46:03] lot of
[00:46:04] people
[00:46:04] didn't
[00:46:04] see
[00:46:04] is
[00:46:05] that
[00:46:05] he
[00:46:06] was
[00:46:06] a
[00:46:06] redundant
[00:46:07] piece.
[00:46:08] If
[00:46:20] D'Angelo
[00:46:21] Russell
[00:46:21] has
[00:46:21] a
[00:46:21] ball
[00:46:22] that's
[00:46:23] a
[00:46:23] win
[00:46:23] for
[00:46:24] that
[00:46:24] defense
[00:46:26] difference
[00:46:27] given
[00:46:28] right
[00:46:29] there.
[00:46:29] I mean
[00:46:30] D'Angelo
[00:46:30] Russell
[00:46:31] can think
[00:46:31] that
[00:46:32] whatever
[00:46:33] about
[00:46:33] that
[00:46:34] situation
[00:46:34] it
[00:46:35] is
[00:46:35] true.
[00:46:36] If
[00:46:37] LeBron
[00:46:38] doesn't
[00:46:38] have
[00:46:38] the
[00:46:38] ball
[00:46:39] in
[00:46:39] his
[00:46:39] hands
[00:46:39] and
[00:46:43] D'Angelo
[00:46:44] has
[00:46:44] it
[00:46:45] that's
[00:46:46] favored
[00:46:46] to
[00:46:46] the
[00:46:46] defense.
[00:46:49] The
[00:46:49] other
[00:46:50] thing
[00:46:50] is
[00:46:50] this
[00:46:50] is
[00:46:51] that
[00:46:51] you
[00:46:51] also
[00:46:51] had
[00:46:52] Austin
[00:46:52] Reeves.
[00:46:53] Now
[00:46:54] Austin
[00:46:55] Reeves
[00:46:55] takes
[00:46:56] care
[00:46:56] of
[00:46:56] the
[00:46:56] ball.
[00:46:57] We
[00:46:57] can
[00:46:57] debate
[00:46:58] whether
[00:46:59] is
[00:47:00] Austin
[00:47:00] better
[00:47:01] than
[00:47:02] D'Angelo
[00:47:02] Russell.
[00:47:03] Maybe
[00:47:03] not in
[00:47:04] pure
[00:47:04] talent
[00:47:04] but
[00:47:05] in
[00:47:06] execution
[00:47:06] of
[00:47:07] offense
[00:47:08] and
[00:47:09] getting
[00:47:09] good
[00:47:10] shots
[00:47:12] or
[00:47:12] create
[00:47:13] good
[00:47:13] shot
[00:47:14] opportunities.
[00:47:16] Austin
[00:47:16] Reeves
[00:47:16] was
[00:47:17] better
[00:47:17] than
[00:47:18] D'Angelo
[00:47:19] Russell.
[00:47:22] now
[00:47:23] you
[00:47:23] want
[00:47:23] to
[00:47:23] talk
[00:47:24] about
[00:47:24] who
[00:47:24] can
[00:47:25] get
[00:47:25] on
[00:47:25] a
[00:47:25] heater
[00:47:26] and
[00:47:27] shoot
[00:47:27] six
[00:47:27] threes
[00:47:28] in a
[00:47:29] row.
[00:47:30] No
[00:47:30] that's
[00:47:30] D'Angelo
[00:47:31] Russell
[00:47:31] all day
[00:47:31] long.
[00:47:32] D'Angelo
[00:47:33] Russell
[00:47:33] got that.
[00:47:34] He
[00:47:35] had
[00:47:35] that
[00:47:35] in
[00:47:35] his
[00:47:35] back.
[00:47:37] and
[00:47:37] it
[00:47:38] saved
[00:47:39] the
[00:47:39] Lakers
[00:47:40] last
[00:47:40] year.
[00:47:41] Guaranteed.
[00:47:42] I'm not
[00:47:43] going to
[00:47:43] sit here
[00:47:43] and be
[00:47:43] salty
[00:47:44] towards
[00:47:44] D'Angelo
[00:47:45] Russell
[00:47:46] but
[00:47:47] the
[00:47:47] fit
[00:47:48] matters
[00:47:48] and
[00:47:49] this
[00:47:49] fits
[00:47:50] the
[00:47:50] Lakers
[00:47:50] better.
[00:47:51] it
[00:47:51] makes
[00:47:52] the
[00:47:52] Lakers
[00:47:53] harder
[00:47:54] to
[00:47:54] guard.
[00:47:55] It
[00:47:56] makes
[00:47:56] them
[00:47:57] a little
[00:47:58] bit
[00:47:58] more
[00:47:59] switchable
[00:47:59] on the
[00:48:00] defensive
[00:48:00] side of
[00:48:01] the ball
[00:48:01] with
[00:48:01] Dorian
[00:48:01] Finney
[00:48:02] Smith.
[00:48:03] And
[00:48:04] also
[00:48:04] it
[00:48:05] lengthens
[00:48:06] out the
[00:48:06] line of
[00:48:07] and maybe
[00:48:07] it puts
[00:48:08] people
[00:48:09] into their
[00:48:10] proper
[00:48:11] actual
[00:48:12] role
[00:48:12] that they
[00:48:13] were made
[00:48:14] for this
[00:48:14] year
[00:48:15] where
[00:48:16] D'Angelo
[00:48:16] Russell
[00:48:17] was a
[00:48:18] reluctant
[00:48:18] piece
[00:48:19] to go
[00:48:21] into his
[00:48:21] role.
[00:48:23] So
[00:48:24] that's
[00:48:25] what I
[00:48:25] gotta say
[00:48:25] about the
[00:48:26] trade.
[00:48:28] Brooklyn
[00:48:29] got three
[00:48:29] seconds
[00:48:30] in the
[00:48:30] deal
[00:48:30] which is
[00:48:31] great.
[00:48:32] They're
[00:48:33] tanking
[00:48:34] so it's
[00:48:35] all good.
[00:48:36] I am
[00:48:37] gonna say
[00:48:38] one other
[00:48:38] thing about
[00:48:39] what Rob
[00:48:40] Kalinka did.
[00:48:43] They won
[00:48:44] the trade
[00:48:45] because they
[00:48:45] got a
[00:48:46] piece that
[00:48:46] is gonna
[00:48:47] help them
[00:48:47] right now.
[00:48:48] They also
[00:48:49] got a
[00:48:50] piece that
[00:48:50] fit their
[00:48:50] team better
[00:48:51] than what
[00:48:52] they previously
[00:48:53] had.
[00:48:55] I'm
[00:48:55] going to
[00:48:56] say this
[00:48:56] it is
[00:48:57] not done
[00:48:58] Rob
[00:48:59] guess
[00:49:00] good start
[00:49:01] to
[00:49:03] what
[00:49:03] hopes to
[00:49:04] be a
[00:49:04] very fruitful
[00:49:05] trade
[00:49:06] season for
[00:49:06] you.
[00:49:07] But
[00:49:08] they
[00:49:09] the
[00:49:09] Lakers
[00:49:10] are
[00:49:10] desperate
[00:49:11] for
[00:49:11] another
[00:49:11] piece.
[00:49:12] Now
[00:49:12] a lot
[00:49:13] of people
[00:49:14] say they
[00:49:14] need a
[00:49:14] big
[00:49:15] a lot
[00:49:16] of
[00:49:16] people
[00:49:16] say
[00:49:16] hey
[00:49:17] do
[00:49:17] you
[00:49:18] replace
[00:49:18] do
[00:49:19] you
[00:49:19] replace
[00:49:20] the
[00:49:20] guard?
[00:49:22] Here's
[00:49:22] the thing
[00:49:23] it depends
[00:49:24] on who
[00:49:25] gets traded
[00:49:25] and in
[00:49:27] what order
[00:49:27] they get
[00:49:28] traded.
[00:49:29] Now
[00:49:30] if for
[00:49:30] some reason
[00:49:31] Gabe
[00:49:31] Vincent
[00:49:32] sticks
[00:49:32] sticks
[00:49:32] around
[00:49:33] or
[00:49:34] whatever
[00:49:35] then
[00:49:36] no
[00:49:37] you don't
[00:49:37] need to
[00:49:37] go look
[00:49:38] for a
[00:49:38] guard.
[00:49:39] You have
[00:49:40] LeBron
[00:49:41] you have
[00:49:42] Austin
[00:49:43] you have
[00:49:44] Christie
[00:49:45] who can
[00:49:45] handle it
[00:49:46] a little bit
[00:49:46] but then
[00:49:47] Gabe
[00:49:48] can be
[00:49:48] the backup
[00:49:49] role
[00:49:49] as far as
[00:49:51] that's
[00:49:51] concerned.
[00:49:52] Now
[00:49:52] if you
[00:49:52] want to
[00:49:53] upgrade
[00:49:53] that role
[00:49:54] I have
[00:49:55] no problem
[00:49:55] with that
[00:49:55] either.
[00:49:58] What
[00:49:58] my
[00:49:59] thought
[00:49:59] is
[00:50:00] this
[00:50:00] a lot
[00:50:01] of
[00:50:01] people
[00:50:01] have
[00:50:01] been
[00:50:01] talking
[00:50:02] about
[00:50:02] keeping
[00:50:02] Rui
[00:50:04] Rui
[00:50:04] makes
[00:50:05] sense
[00:50:05] for this
[00:50:05] team
[00:50:05] he's
[00:50:06] really
[00:50:06] found
[00:50:06] a role
[00:50:07] he's
[00:50:08] really
[00:50:08] doing
[00:50:08] this
[00:50:08] he's
[00:50:09] really
[00:50:09] doing
[00:50:09] that
[00:50:09] I
[00:50:11] like
[00:50:11] Rui
[00:50:11] I think
[00:50:12] Rui
[00:50:13] is a
[00:50:14] physical
[00:50:15] presence
[00:50:15] that the
[00:50:15] Lakers
[00:50:16] need
[00:50:17] I think
[00:50:18] that
[00:50:19] he does
[00:50:20] fit
[00:50:20] what they
[00:50:21] have
[00:50:22] I don't
[00:50:23] think he's
[00:50:24] playing
[00:50:24] I'm sorry
[00:50:25] he doesn't
[00:50:26] fit what the
[00:50:26] Lakers
[00:50:26] have
[00:50:27] I do
[00:50:27] apologize
[00:50:27] he's
[00:50:28] playing
[00:50:28] out of
[00:50:29] position
[00:50:30] he's
[00:50:31] playing
[00:50:31] the
[00:50:31] three
[00:50:32] where
[00:50:32] he
[00:50:33] should
[00:50:33] be
[00:50:33] playing
[00:50:33] a
[00:50:33] four
[00:50:34] but
[00:50:34] because
[00:50:35] LeBron
[00:50:35] is old
[00:50:36] or older
[00:50:38] he's
[00:50:39] not going
[00:50:39] to give
[00:50:39] the
[00:50:40] type
[00:50:40] of
[00:50:40] defensive
[00:50:41] intensity
[00:50:42] you're
[00:50:43] going
[00:50:43] to need
[00:50:43] on a
[00:50:43] night
[00:50:44] to night
[00:50:44] basis
[00:50:44] but
[00:50:45] that's
[00:50:46] the
[00:50:47] position
[00:50:47] he can
[00:50:47] play
[00:50:48] at this
[00:50:48] time
[00:50:49] in his
[00:50:50] career
[00:50:50] remember
[00:50:51] the
[00:50:52] dude
[00:50:52] has been
[00:50:52] in the
[00:50:53] league
[00:50:53] 22
[00:50:53] years
[00:50:55] so
[00:50:55] you ask
[00:50:56] him
[00:50:57] to chase
[00:50:57] like
[00:50:57] really
[00:51:00] shifty
[00:51:00] guards
[00:51:02] or
[00:51:02] six
[00:51:03] seven
[00:51:03] wings
[00:51:04] who are
[00:51:04] super
[00:51:05] athletic
[00:51:05] like
[00:51:06] Jalen
[00:51:06] Brown
[00:51:07] should
[00:51:07] LeBron
[00:51:08] be chasing
[00:51:08] Jalen
[00:51:09] Brown
[00:51:09] around
[00:51:09] no
[00:51:11] you need
[00:51:12] somebody
[00:51:12] else
[00:51:13] to do
[00:51:13] that
[00:51:14] the
[00:51:15] problem
[00:51:15] is
[00:51:15] is that
[00:51:16] Rui
[00:51:16] is really
[00:51:16] not
[00:51:17] kind
[00:51:17] of
[00:51:17] built
[00:51:17] for
[00:51:17] that
[00:51:19] so
[00:51:21] I
[00:51:21] know
[00:51:22] a lot
[00:51:22] of
[00:51:22] people
[00:51:22] have
[00:51:23] been
[00:51:23] saying
[00:51:23] well
[00:51:24] we
[00:51:25] should
[00:51:25] keep
[00:51:25] Rui
[00:51:26] Rui
[00:51:26] is a
[00:51:27] piece
[00:51:27] that
[00:51:27] you know
[00:51:28] can get
[00:51:28] us
[00:51:28] some
[00:51:29] buckets
[00:51:29] he
[00:51:29] rebounds
[00:51:30] at a
[00:51:30] high
[00:51:31] level
[00:51:31] he
[00:51:32] does
[00:51:32] provide
[00:51:33] some
[00:51:34] productivity
[00:51:35] he's
[00:51:35] additive
[00:51:36] to what
[00:51:36] we
[00:51:36] have
[00:51:37] you're
[00:51:38] 100%
[00:51:39] correct
[00:51:40] in what
[00:51:41] you're
[00:51:41] talking
[00:51:41] about
[00:51:41] now
[00:51:42] I want
[00:51:43] you to
[00:51:44] envision
[00:51:44] this
[00:51:46] I want
[00:51:47] you to
[00:51:47] envision
[00:51:49] a
[00:51:49] situation
[00:51:50] where we
[00:51:51] trade
[00:51:52] Rui
[00:51:53] and
[00:51:54] one of
[00:51:55] the trades
[00:51:55] that I
[00:51:56] thought of
[00:51:56] because I've
[00:51:57] been watching
[00:51:59] way too
[00:51:59] much
[00:52:00] Atlanta
[00:52:00] Hawks
[00:52:01] basketball
[00:52:02] and I
[00:52:03] want to
[00:52:03] see if
[00:52:04] we can
[00:52:04] trade
[00:52:04] Rui
[00:52:05] for
[00:52:06] DeAndre
[00:52:06] Hunter
[00:52:07] and you
[00:52:08] go
[00:52:08] well
[00:52:08] Vince
[00:52:08] damn
[00:52:09] here's
[00:52:09] another
[00:52:10] guy
[00:52:10] who
[00:52:10] gets
[00:52:10] injured
[00:52:11] and stuff
[00:52:11] like that
[00:52:12] well this
[00:52:12] year
[00:52:14] DeAndre
[00:52:14] Hunter
[00:52:15] has been
[00:52:15] playing a lot
[00:52:15] of games
[00:52:16] and I
[00:52:16] really like
[00:52:17] how he's
[00:52:17] playing
[00:52:19] he's
[00:52:19] shooting
[00:52:19] the ball
[00:52:21] over
[00:52:21] 40%
[00:52:22] from three
[00:52:24] he has
[00:52:25] been additive
[00:52:25] on the
[00:52:26] defensive
[00:52:26] which
[00:52:27] that's
[00:52:27] his
[00:52:27] calling
[00:52:28] card
[00:52:29] the other
[00:52:30] thing is
[00:52:30] is that
[00:52:31] he gives
[00:52:31] you a
[00:52:31] little
[00:52:32] more
[00:52:32] defensive
[00:52:34] versatility
[00:52:34] than even
[00:52:36] Dorian
[00:52:36] Finney
[00:52:36] Smith
[00:52:37] does
[00:52:37] which is
[00:52:38] even
[00:52:38] better
[00:52:39] for the
[00:52:40] Lakers
[00:52:41] and I
[00:52:41] think that
[00:52:42] he's just
[00:52:43] another piece
[00:52:43] that you
[00:52:43] can move
[00:52:44] up and
[00:52:44] down the
[00:52:45] lineup
[00:52:45] he can
[00:52:46] play two
[00:52:46] he can
[00:52:47] play three
[00:52:47] he can
[00:52:48] play four
[00:52:49] with
[00:52:50] Dorian
[00:52:50] Finney
[00:52:50] Smith
[00:52:50] he can
[00:52:51] play three
[00:52:51] he can
[00:52:52] play four
[00:52:52] he can
[00:52:53] play five
[00:52:54] with Rui
[00:52:55] you got him
[00:52:56] playing three
[00:52:57] he really
[00:52:58] not a
[00:52:58] three
[00:52:58] he really
[00:52:59] a four
[00:53:00] he really
[00:53:01] don't like
[00:53:01] playing the
[00:53:02] five
[00:53:02] he don't
[00:53:02] like getting
[00:53:03] beat up
[00:53:03] but
[00:53:06] he's been
[00:53:07] serviceable
[00:53:08] but if you
[00:53:09] could super
[00:53:10] charge those
[00:53:10] roles
[00:53:11] right
[00:53:11] if you
[00:53:12] could give
[00:53:12] like a
[00:53:13] little more
[00:53:13] to those
[00:53:14] roles
[00:53:16] would it
[00:53:16] be worth
[00:53:17] it
[00:53:18] I want
[00:53:19] people to
[00:53:19] sound off
[00:53:20] hit me in
[00:53:21] the comments
[00:53:21] get into
[00:53:23] the
[00:53:25] oh
[00:53:26] we'll talk
[00:53:27] about
[00:53:27] five star
[00:53:28] ratings and
[00:53:29] stuff like
[00:53:29] that
[00:53:29] before we
[00:53:30] get out
[00:53:31] of here
[00:53:31] but
[00:53:34] hit me up
[00:53:35] on X
[00:53:35] hit me up
[00:53:35] on blue
[00:53:36] sky
[00:53:36] let me
[00:53:37] know what
[00:53:37] you think
[00:53:38] of that
[00:53:38] trade
[00:53:38] situation
[00:53:40] now we
[00:53:41] need to
[00:53:41] hit the
[00:53:42] Miami
[00:53:42] Butler
[00:53:42] saga
[00:53:44] drama
[00:53:44] that is
[00:53:45] going on
[00:53:46] before we
[00:53:46] get out
[00:53:47] of here
[00:53:47] and I
[00:53:49] want to
[00:53:50] hit that
[00:53:50] right now
[00:53:51] now
[00:53:53] okay
[00:53:55] Jimmy
[00:53:55] Butler
[00:53:56] says
[00:53:56] or
[00:53:57] Shams
[00:53:58] reports
[00:53:58] that
[00:54:00] Jimmy
[00:54:00] Butler
[00:54:01] prefers to
[00:54:03] be traded
[00:54:03] before
[00:54:04] the
[00:54:05] February
[00:54:06] 6th
[00:54:06] trade
[00:54:06] then
[00:54:08] Pat Riley
[00:54:10] comes out
[00:54:10] and recently
[00:54:12] comes out
[00:54:13] with a statement
[00:54:13] and says
[00:54:14] that
[00:54:15] we're not
[00:54:16] trading
[00:54:16] Jimmy
[00:54:16] Butler
[00:54:17] but the
[00:54:17] rumors
[00:54:18] suggest that
[00:54:18] Jimmy
[00:54:19] Butler
[00:54:19] might
[00:54:19] prefer a
[00:54:20] move
[00:54:20] on top
[00:54:21] of that
[00:54:21] there's been
[00:54:22] some drama
[00:54:22] on the
[00:54:22] court
[00:54:23] yeah
[00:54:23] I understand
[00:54:24] that
[00:54:24] but
[00:54:24] Pat Riley
[00:54:25] comes out
[00:54:25] and says
[00:54:26] we're not
[00:54:27] trading
[00:54:27] him
[00:54:29] whoever
[00:54:29] put that
[00:54:30] out there
[00:54:30] it's an erroneous
[00:54:31] rumor
[00:54:32] we're not
[00:54:32] doing
[00:54:33] now
[00:54:34] you say
[00:54:35] they are
[00:54:37] going
[00:54:38] to keep
[00:54:39] Jimmy
[00:54:41] you could
[00:54:41] say to me
[00:54:42] they're going
[00:54:43] to trade
[00:54:43] Jimmy
[00:54:43] there are
[00:54:45] three things
[00:54:45] we do
[00:54:46] know
[00:54:47] one
[00:54:49] Butler
[00:54:49] has had
[00:54:50] an issue
[00:54:52] with what
[00:54:53] has gone
[00:54:53] on
[00:54:54] he didn't
[00:54:55] get his
[00:54:55] contract
[00:54:56] over the
[00:54:56] summer
[00:54:56] he
[00:54:57] didn't
[00:54:58] get the
[00:54:59] contract
[00:54:59] extension
[00:55:00] right before
[00:55:00] training camp
[00:55:01] and
[00:55:02] they said
[00:55:03] they're
[00:55:03] not going
[00:55:04] to give
[00:55:05] it
[00:55:05] so he's
[00:55:06] like
[00:55:06] yo
[00:55:06] alright
[00:55:07] I have
[00:55:08] 52.4
[00:55:10] million dollar
[00:55:11] option
[00:55:11] next year
[00:55:12] but he
[00:55:13] said he's
[00:55:13] definitely
[00:55:14] opting out
[00:55:15] because
[00:55:15] he believes
[00:55:16] that there
[00:55:17] is a bigger
[00:55:18] payday out
[00:55:19] there for
[00:55:19] him
[00:55:19] now
[00:55:21] here's
[00:55:21] the problem
[00:55:22] Jimmy
[00:55:23] Butler
[00:55:23] is 35
[00:55:24] years old
[00:55:26] who is
[00:55:27] giving
[00:55:27] Jimmy
[00:55:27] Butler
[00:55:28] his next
[00:55:28] contract
[00:55:30] who's
[00:55:30] going to
[00:55:30] be the
[00:55:31] team
[00:55:31] now
[00:55:32] if
[00:55:32] somebody
[00:55:33] was
[00:55:33] like
[00:55:33] can
[00:55:34] we
[00:55:34] hold
[00:55:34] on
[00:55:35] to
[00:55:51] 200
[00:55:52] million
[00:55:52] I don't
[00:55:53] see that
[00:55:54] Jimmy
[00:55:55] has been
[00:55:55] an excellent
[00:55:56] player
[00:55:58] he
[00:55:58] built
[00:55:59] himself
[00:56:00] into
[00:56:00] a
[00:56:00] superstar
[00:56:02] yes
[00:56:03] Jimmy
[00:56:04] does come
[00:56:04] with some
[00:56:05] headaches
[00:56:05] but
[00:56:07] Jimmy
[00:56:08] wants to
[00:56:08] win
[00:56:08] usually
[00:56:10] now I
[00:56:10] will tell
[00:56:11] you that
[00:56:11] Kyle Riley
[00:56:12] said
[00:56:12] in a
[00:56:13] statement
[00:56:14] and we
[00:56:15] all know
[00:56:15] the statement
[00:56:16] he said
[00:56:16] maybe
[00:56:17] people
[00:56:18] who aren't
[00:56:19] playing
[00:56:20] need to
[00:56:21] shut up
[00:56:23] and he
[00:56:23] was also
[00:56:24] saying that
[00:56:25] you know
[00:56:25] and this
[00:56:26] was when
[00:56:26] there were
[00:56:27] contract
[00:56:29] negotiations
[00:56:29] going on
[00:56:30] he's like
[00:56:31] well Jimmy
[00:56:31] needs to
[00:56:32] play
[00:56:32] if he
[00:56:33] wants to
[00:56:33] get
[00:56:34] paid
[00:56:35] now
[00:56:35] only
[00:56:35] Pat Riley
[00:56:36] could say
[00:56:36] something
[00:56:37] like that
[00:56:38] because
[00:56:38] he
[00:56:38] OG
[00:56:40] right
[00:56:41] he's
[00:56:41] the last
[00:56:42] of the
[00:56:42] old
[00:56:43] guard
[00:56:44] Pat Riley
[00:56:45] could say
[00:56:45] that
[00:56:45] now other
[00:56:46] GMs
[00:56:47] other
[00:56:47] executives
[00:56:48] they will
[00:56:49] be more
[00:56:49] collaborative
[00:56:50] with this
[00:56:51] process
[00:56:51] they'll
[00:56:52] say
[00:56:52] well
[00:56:53] we have
[00:56:53] to work
[00:56:54] with the
[00:56:54] player
[00:56:54] to come
[00:56:55] up with
[00:56:55] a common
[00:56:56] number
[00:56:56] that makes
[00:56:56] sense
[00:56:57] for the
[00:56:57] player
[00:56:57] and makes
[00:56:58] sense
[00:56:58] for us
[00:56:58] and makes
[00:56:59] him
[00:56:59] comfortable
[00:56:59] and makes
[00:57:00] us
[00:57:00] comfortable
[00:57:00] and all
[00:57:01] that
[00:57:02] nah
[00:57:04] Pat Riley
[00:57:05] cuts through
[00:57:05] all the
[00:57:06] bullshit
[00:57:07] he said
[00:57:08] listen
[00:57:09] Jimmy
[00:57:09] wants his
[00:57:10] money
[00:57:11] Jimmy
[00:57:11] gonna need
[00:57:12] to play
[00:57:14] there's the
[00:57:15] issue
[00:57:15] that's what's
[00:57:16] been going
[00:57:16] on but
[00:57:16] here's the
[00:57:17] thing
[00:57:17] despite the
[00:57:18] drama
[00:57:18] Butler
[00:57:19] remains
[00:57:19] the
[00:57:19] most
[00:57:20] impactful
[00:57:20] player
[00:57:21] with a
[00:57:22] career
[00:57:22] best
[00:57:22] 55%
[00:57:24] shooting
[00:57:25] percentage
[00:57:26] this season
[00:57:26] also
[00:57:27] he
[00:57:28] the Miami
[00:57:28] Heat
[00:57:29] have a
[00:57:29] plus
[00:57:30] 6.2
[00:57:32] net rating
[00:57:32] when Jimmy
[00:57:33] Butler
[00:57:34] is on the
[00:57:35] court
[00:57:35] so
[00:57:36] is
[00:57:37] Jimmy
[00:57:38] still
[00:57:38] impacting
[00:57:39] winning
[00:57:40] yes
[00:57:41] the problem
[00:57:43] is
[00:57:44] is that
[00:57:45] he can't
[00:57:46] be your
[00:57:47] number
[00:57:47] one
[00:57:48] if you
[00:57:49] really
[00:57:49] trying to
[00:57:49] make a
[00:57:50] playoff
[00:57:50] run
[00:57:50] like a
[00:57:51] real
[00:57:51] one
[00:57:52] like
[00:57:52] you're
[00:57:52] trying
[00:57:52] to get
[00:57:52] to the
[00:57:53] finals
[00:57:55] Jimmy's
[00:57:56] not that
[00:57:56] dude
[00:57:57] not
[00:57:58] anymore
[00:58:00] you need
[00:58:00] to
[00:58:01] surround
[00:58:01] him
[00:58:02] with a ton
[00:58:02] of talent
[00:58:04] also
[00:58:04] bam
[00:58:05] is
[00:58:05] shooting
[00:58:06] just
[00:58:07] terrible
[00:58:08] this
[00:58:08] year
[00:58:08] I
[00:58:08] don't
[00:58:08] know
[00:58:09] what's
[00:58:09] going
[00:58:09] on
[00:58:09] with
[00:58:09] bam
[00:58:11] I
[00:58:11] don't
[00:58:11] know
[00:58:11] Jimmy
[00:58:12] put
[00:58:13] some
[00:58:13] sort
[00:58:13] of
[00:58:14] hex
[00:58:14] on
[00:58:14] him
[00:58:15] I
[00:58:16] don't
[00:58:16] know
[00:58:16] if
[00:58:16] bam
[00:58:17] out of
[00:58:17] while
[00:58:18] left
[00:58:19] his
[00:58:19] offense
[00:58:19] in
[00:58:20] France
[00:58:21] during
[00:58:22] the
[00:58:22] Olympics
[00:58:24] did he
[00:58:25] have
[00:58:25] some
[00:58:26] sort
[00:58:26] of
[00:58:26] like
[00:58:28] like
[00:58:29] cryo
[00:58:29] freeze
[00:58:29] accident
[00:58:30] and it
[00:58:31] broke
[00:58:32] his
[00:58:32] shot
[00:58:33] I
[00:58:33] don't
[00:58:33] know
[00:58:34] what's
[00:58:34] going
[00:58:34] on
[00:58:34] but
[00:58:35] he's
[00:58:35] leaving
[00:58:35] a lot
[00:58:36] of
[00:58:36] shots
[00:58:36] short
[00:58:37] and
[00:58:38] his
[00:58:38] shooting
[00:58:38] percentage
[00:58:39] this
[00:58:39] year
[00:58:39] is
[00:58:40] terrible
[00:58:42] but
[00:58:42] we
[00:58:43] never
[00:58:43] worry
[00:58:43] about
[00:58:44] bam
[00:58:44] because
[00:58:45] bam
[00:58:46] when the
[00:58:47] chips
[00:58:47] are down
[00:58:47] bam
[00:58:48] is
[00:58:48] going
[00:58:48] to
[00:58:48] be
[00:58:48] there
[00:58:50] that's
[00:58:50] what
[00:58:51] show
[00:58:53] here's
[00:58:53] what the
[00:58:53] history
[00:58:54] shows
[00:58:54] about
[00:58:54] Miami
[00:58:56] they
[00:58:57] have
[00:58:57] incredible
[00:58:58] front
[00:58:58] office
[00:58:59] they have
[00:59:00] very smart
[00:59:00] people
[00:59:01] they were
[00:59:02] somehow
[00:59:03] able
[00:59:04] to
[00:59:06] Jedi
[00:59:07] mind
[00:59:07] trick
[00:59:07] Philadelphia
[00:59:08] into
[00:59:09] giving
[00:59:10] them
[00:59:10] Jimmy
[00:59:11] Butler
[00:59:11] for
[00:59:12] basically
[00:59:12] nothing
[00:59:13] so
[00:59:14] if
[00:59:14] there's
[00:59:14] anything
[00:59:15] that can
[00:59:15] work
[00:59:15] themselves
[00:59:16] out of
[00:59:16] this
[00:59:17] mess
[00:59:17] it's
[00:59:18] the
[00:59:18] Miami
[00:59:18] Heat
[00:59:19] now
[00:59:20] do I
[00:59:20] believe
[00:59:21] that
[00:59:21] Jimmy
[00:59:21] Butler
[00:59:22] will
[00:59:23] get
[00:59:23] traded
[00:59:23] or
[00:59:23] will
[00:59:24] not
[00:59:24] get
[00:59:24] traded
[00:59:24] I
[00:59:25] think
[00:59:25] if
[00:59:27] if I
[00:59:28] had to
[00:59:28] put a
[00:59:28] percentage
[00:59:29] on it
[00:59:29] I
[00:59:31] think
[00:59:31] Jimmy
[00:59:31] will
[00:59:31] get
[00:59:32] traded
[00:59:32] I
[00:59:32] think
[00:59:33] there's
[00:59:33] a
[00:59:33] better
[00:59:33] chance
[00:59:34] he
[00:59:34] does
[00:59:34] get
[00:59:34] traded
[00:59:35] I
[00:59:36] think
[00:59:36] what
[00:59:36] Pat
[00:59:37] Riley
[00:59:37] said
[00:59:37] was
[00:59:38] basically
[00:59:39] to
[00:59:39] the
[00:59:40] media
[00:59:40] yeah
[00:59:40] we're
[00:59:41] not
[00:59:41] trading
[00:59:41] but
[00:59:44] you
[00:59:44] need
[00:59:44] to
[00:59:44] have
[00:59:44] some
[00:59:45] value
[00:59:45] in
[00:59:45] him
[00:59:46] to
[00:59:47] trade
[00:59:47] him
[00:59:48] and
[00:59:49] to
[01:00:01] say
[01:00:01] oh
[01:00:01] here's
[01:00:02] your
[01:00:02] player
[01:00:02] wants
[01:00:03] out
[01:00:04] just
[01:00:04] take
[01:00:05] our
[01:00:06] leftovers
[01:00:07] and
[01:00:08] we
[01:00:08] gone
[01:00:08] with
[01:00:09] you
[01:00:09] well
[01:00:10] you
[01:00:10] know
[01:00:10] Pat
[01:00:10] Riley
[01:00:11] is
[01:00:11] not
[01:00:11] dealing
[01:00:11] with
[01:00:11] that
[01:00:13] no
[01:00:13] no
[01:00:14] no
[01:00:14] Pat
[01:00:15] Riley
[01:00:16] is
[01:00:16] as
[01:00:17] stubborn
[01:00:17] as
[01:00:17] Danny
[01:00:18] Ainge
[01:00:18] and
[01:00:19] if
[01:00:19] he
[01:00:20] thinks
[01:00:20] a
[01:00:20] player
[01:00:20] is
[01:00:20] going
[01:00:21] to
[01:00:21] try
[01:00:21] to
[01:00:21] get
[01:00:21] one
[01:00:21] over
[01:00:22] on
[01:00:22] him
[01:00:22] no
[01:00:23] no
[01:00:24] no
[01:00:25] no
[01:00:25] no
[01:00:27] so
[01:00:27] somebody's
[01:00:28] going to
[01:00:28] have to
[01:00:28] come up
[01:00:29] with a
[01:00:29] legitimate
[01:00:29] offer
[01:00:30] for
[01:00:30] Jimmy
[01:00:30] Butler
[01:00:31] for him
[01:00:31] to be
[01:00:32] moved
[01:00:33] but
[01:00:33] if
[01:00:34] somebody
[01:00:34] does
[01:00:34] if
[01:00:35] Houston
[01:00:36] decides
[01:00:37] that this
[01:00:37] is
[01:00:37] a route
[01:00:38] they want
[01:00:38] to go
[01:00:39] I
[01:00:40] don't
[01:00:40] think
[01:00:40] this is
[01:00:40] a route
[01:00:41] that
[01:00:41] Houston
[01:00:42] should
[01:00:42] take
[01:00:43] we'll
[01:00:44] get
[01:00:44] into
[01:00:44] it
[01:00:44] in
[01:00:44] a
[01:00:44] second
[01:00:45] we
[01:00:45] need
[01:00:45] to
[01:00:45] talk
[01:00:45] about
[01:00:46] the
[01:00:46] box
[01:00:46] of
[01:00:47] it
[01:00:47] all
[01:00:47] and
[01:00:48] everything
[01:00:48] like
[01:00:48] that
[01:00:48] and
[01:00:49] we
[01:00:49] will
[01:00:49] in
[01:00:49] one
[01:00:50] second
[01:00:51] but
[01:00:54] Milwaukee
[01:00:54] might be a team
[01:00:56] that should look at
[01:00:57] Jimmy Butler
[01:00:59] if they're desperate
[01:01:00] to get into that
[01:01:02] they need one more
[01:01:03] piece to help them
[01:01:04] along
[01:01:05] and I'm not saying
[01:01:07] that Jimmy
[01:01:07] solves all their
[01:01:08] issues
[01:01:09] but Jimmy
[01:01:10] could help
[01:01:10] Milwaukee
[01:01:12] especially
[01:01:13] in a
[01:01:13] playoff setting
[01:01:14] because Jimmy
[01:01:15] is a
[01:01:15] different
[01:01:15] beast
[01:01:16] in the
[01:01:17] playoffs
[01:01:17] now
[01:01:20] we need
[01:01:21] to get
[01:01:21] to this
[01:01:21] Sacramento
[01:01:22] story
[01:01:22] two reasons
[01:01:24] and two
[01:01:24] reasons only
[01:01:25] we have
[01:01:26] finally gotten
[01:01:26] here
[01:01:26] Jimmy
[01:01:27] Butler
[01:01:28] says he
[01:01:28] wants out
[01:01:29] De'Aaron
[01:01:31] Fox
[01:01:31] hasn't
[01:01:32] he put
[01:01:33] on a
[01:01:34] statement
[01:01:35] on
[01:01:35] X
[01:01:36] said
[01:01:36] I have
[01:01:37] never
[01:01:37] asked
[01:01:38] for a
[01:01:38] trick
[01:01:38] I don't
[01:01:39] know
[01:01:40] where
[01:01:40] any of
[01:01:41] this is
[01:01:41] coming
[01:01:41] from
[01:01:42] he is
[01:01:42] right
[01:01:43] he has
[01:01:44] never
[01:01:44] asked
[01:01:44] for a
[01:01:45] trick
[01:01:46] Rich Paul
[01:01:47] on the
[01:01:47] other
[01:01:47] hand
[01:01:49] might
[01:01:49] have
[01:01:49] asked
[01:01:50] for
[01:01:50] a
[01:01:50] trick
[01:01:51] Rich
[01:01:52] Paul
[01:01:53] is
[01:01:53] the
[01:01:53] agent
[01:01:54] of
[01:01:54] De'Aaron Fox
[01:01:55] De'Aaron Fox
[01:01:56] Rich
[01:01:57] Rich Paul
[01:01:57] clutch
[01:01:59] now
[01:01:59] I know
[01:02:00] where you
[01:02:01] guys are
[01:02:01] thinking
[01:02:02] you're saying
[01:02:02] Vince
[01:02:03] are you
[01:02:03] about to
[01:02:04] break
[01:02:04] off
[01:02:04] that
[01:02:05] De'Aaron Fox
[01:02:06] is going
[01:02:06] to be
[01:02:07] a
[01:02:07] Laker
[01:02:07] no
[01:02:09] absolutely
[01:02:09] not
[01:02:11] he is
[01:02:12] not
[01:02:13] going
[01:02:13] to be
[01:02:13] a
[01:02:13] Laker
[01:02:14] and
[01:02:15] for
[01:02:15] all
[01:02:16] you
[01:02:16] fans
[01:02:16] out
[01:02:16] there
[01:02:17] I
[01:02:17] know
[01:02:18] y'all
[01:02:18] go
[01:02:19] on
[01:02:19] to
[01:02:20] Trevor's
[01:02:21] YouTube
[01:02:21] page
[01:02:22] I know
[01:02:22] y'all
[01:02:23] go
[01:02:23] on
[01:02:23] to
[01:02:23] Johan
[01:02:24] Buhas
[01:02:24] YouTube
[01:02:25] page
[01:02:26] and y'all
[01:02:27] be talking
[01:02:27] about
[01:02:27] De'Aaron Fox
[01:02:28] to the
[01:02:29] Lakers
[01:02:29] let's
[01:02:30] go
[01:02:30] let's
[01:02:31] go
[01:02:31] no
[01:02:32] no
[01:02:34] not
[01:02:35] saying
[01:02:35] that
[01:02:35] De'Aaron Fox
[01:02:36] wouldn't be
[01:02:36] a good
[01:02:36] late
[01:02:37] here's
[01:02:37] the
[01:02:37] problem
[01:02:38] he makes
[01:02:39] too much
[01:02:39] money
[01:02:39] we'd have
[01:02:40] to stack
[01:02:41] up
[01:02:41] way too
[01:02:41] many
[01:02:42] contracts
[01:02:42] which
[01:02:43] then
[01:02:43] leaves
[01:02:44] us
[01:02:44] no
[01:02:45] depth
[01:02:46] whatsoever
[01:02:47] so that
[01:02:48] is not
[01:02:49] the route
[01:02:49] that we
[01:02:50] will be
[01:02:50] going
[01:02:51] now
[01:02:52] De'Aaron
[01:02:53] Fox
[01:02:54] has denied
[01:02:54] these rumors
[01:02:56] I understand
[01:02:57] he can
[01:02:57] categorically
[01:02:58] say these
[01:02:58] things
[01:02:59] which Paul
[01:03:00] on the
[01:03:01] other hand
[01:03:01] different
[01:03:02] cap
[01:03:03] he's out
[01:03:04] there
[01:03:04] moving
[01:03:04] and shaking
[01:03:05] he's
[01:03:05] looking at
[01:03:06] what's
[01:03:06] going on
[01:03:06] and going
[01:03:07] hey
[01:03:08] we
[01:03:08] were in
[01:03:10] the playoffs
[01:03:10] two years
[01:03:11] ago
[01:03:11] we were
[01:03:12] in the
[01:03:12] plan
[01:03:12] last year
[01:03:13] and now
[01:03:15] it looks
[01:03:16] like we're
[01:03:16] struggling
[01:03:16] to get
[01:03:17] in the
[01:03:17] plan
[01:03:17] what is
[01:03:18] the
[01:03:18] plan
[01:03:20] here
[01:03:21] in
[01:03:21] California
[01:03:22] State
[01:03:23] and my
[01:03:24] client
[01:03:25] who is
[01:03:25] 27
[01:03:28] is
[01:03:29] wanting
[01:03:29] to win
[01:03:30] so how
[01:03:31] are we
[01:03:31] going to
[01:03:32] fix this
[01:03:33] and get
[01:03:33] us on
[01:03:34] the winning
[01:03:34] track
[01:03:36] so if
[01:03:37] he did
[01:03:37] not hear
[01:03:37] the answer
[01:03:38] or Monty
[01:03:39] McNair
[01:03:39] got really
[01:03:41] really mad
[01:03:41] and said
[01:03:42] get out
[01:03:43] of my
[01:03:43] office
[01:03:43] I'm not
[01:03:44] saying he
[01:03:44] did
[01:03:44] do
[01:03:45] but if
[01:03:46] for some
[01:03:47] reason
[01:03:47] Rich Paul
[01:03:48] didn't seem
[01:03:49] like there
[01:03:50] was a lot
[01:03:50] of receptiveness
[01:03:51] coming from
[01:03:52] the front
[01:03:52] office of
[01:03:53] the Sacramento
[01:03:53] Kings
[01:03:53] I understand
[01:03:54] why
[01:03:55] these rumors
[01:03:56] are out
[01:03:56] here
[01:03:57] now
[01:03:58] who could
[01:04:00] De'Aaron
[01:04:00] Fox go
[01:04:01] to
[01:04:02] good
[01:04:03] question
[01:04:04] well there
[01:04:05] is one
[01:04:06] team
[01:04:07] there's
[01:04:08] one team
[01:04:08] out there
[01:04:08] who got a
[01:04:10] bunch of
[01:04:10] picks
[01:04:10] young players
[01:04:11] and all
[01:04:12] this
[01:04:12] and
[01:04:13] I've
[01:04:14] heard from
[01:04:14] Eastern
[01:04:15] Conference
[01:04:15] executive
[01:04:17] that said
[01:04:18] hey
[01:04:20] if for
[01:04:21] some
[01:04:21] reason
[01:04:22] this
[01:04:22] goes
[01:04:23] down
[01:04:24] Reed
[01:04:25] Shepard
[01:04:26] needs
[01:04:26] to be
[01:04:27] in that
[01:04:27] deal
[01:04:27] because
[01:04:29] Sacramento
[01:04:29] would
[01:04:30] love
[01:04:31] Reed
[01:04:31] Shepard
[01:04:32] could
[01:04:32] Houston
[01:04:34] push
[01:04:34] some
[01:04:35] of the
[01:04:35] chips
[01:04:35] into
[01:04:36] the
[01:04:36] middle
[01:04:36] and
[01:04:37] get
[01:04:37] De'Aaron
[01:04:38] Fox
[01:04:38] from
[01:04:39] Sacramento
[01:04:39] they
[01:04:42] could
[01:04:42] they
[01:04:42] have
[01:04:42] the
[01:04:42] assets
[01:04:43] they
[01:04:44] have
[01:04:50] I don't
[01:04:50] want to
[01:04:50] get
[01:04:50] people
[01:04:51] excited
[01:04:52] does
[01:04:53] Ema
[01:04:53] Adoka
[01:04:54] and
[01:04:55] Raphael
[01:04:56] Stone
[01:04:56] have
[01:04:56] enough
[01:04:56] information
[01:04:57] to know
[01:04:58] who their
[01:05:00] core is
[01:05:01] moving forward
[01:05:02] to make
[01:05:02] this move
[01:05:03] because
[01:05:04] if you
[01:05:05] don't
[01:05:05] if you
[01:05:06] guess
[01:05:07] wrong
[01:05:07] on
[01:05:09] you know
[01:05:10] whether it's
[01:05:10] Jalen Green
[01:05:11] Tari
[01:05:12] Eason
[01:05:12] Cam Whitmore
[01:05:14] Reed
[01:05:16] Shepard
[01:05:17] Alcran
[01:05:18] Shangun
[01:05:19] whoever it
[01:05:20] is that
[01:05:20] is going
[01:05:21] back
[01:05:23] to
[01:05:23] fulfill
[01:05:24] what you're
[01:05:25] giving
[01:05:25] Sacramento
[01:05:27] you better
[01:05:28] have made
[01:05:29] the right
[01:05:30] choice
[01:05:32] keep your
[01:05:33] core in
[01:05:33] the building
[01:05:34] and if
[01:05:35] you're not
[01:05:36] sure
[01:05:36] all we
[01:05:39] heard
[01:05:39] for two
[01:05:40] or three
[01:05:41] weeks
[01:05:41] is that
[01:05:42] they were
[01:05:42] fine with
[01:05:43] what they
[01:05:43] had
[01:05:44] they were
[01:05:44] taking this
[01:05:45] as like
[01:05:45] the OKC
[01:05:46] year
[01:05:46] remember
[01:05:47] last year
[01:05:49] OKC
[01:05:50] was like
[01:05:50] we're going
[01:05:51] into the
[01:05:51] playoffs
[01:05:52] we're going
[01:05:53] to assess
[01:05:53] where we
[01:05:53] are
[01:05:54] after
[01:05:54] and then
[01:05:56] we'll make
[01:05:56] the necessary
[01:05:57] moves
[01:05:59] and they
[01:06:00] did
[01:06:00] they were
[01:06:02] to their
[01:06:02] word
[01:06:02] they made
[01:06:03] the moves
[01:06:03] they got
[01:06:04] Isaiah
[01:06:04] Hardenstein
[01:06:05] they also
[01:06:06] got Alex
[01:06:07] Caruso
[01:06:08] life is
[01:06:09] good
[01:06:09] on the
[01:06:10] plains
[01:06:11] in Oklahoma
[01:06:12] City
[01:06:14] this should
[01:06:15] be a year
[01:06:16] where you
[01:06:17] do
[01:06:18] do
[01:06:19] the
[01:06:20] self
[01:06:21] discovery
[01:06:23] mind
[01:06:23] you
[01:06:23] Jalen
[01:06:24] Green
[01:06:24] this is
[01:06:25] the second
[01:06:25] year
[01:06:25] to me
[01:06:26] in real
[01:06:27] organized
[01:06:27] basketball
[01:06:28] for Jalen
[01:06:29] Green
[01:06:29] this is
[01:06:30] year two
[01:06:30] of Eme
[01:06:31] Adelka
[01:06:33] and that
[01:06:34] coaching staff
[01:06:34] and that
[01:06:36] system
[01:06:36] and the
[01:06:37] way he
[01:06:38] wants to
[01:06:38] play
[01:06:40] so I
[01:06:42] think
[01:06:42] having
[01:06:43] another
[01:06:43] year
[01:06:44] of data
[01:06:44] makes a
[01:06:45] lot more
[01:06:45] sense
[01:06:46] than going
[01:06:46] in all
[01:06:47] in on
[01:06:47] De'Aaron
[01:06:48] Fox
[01:06:48] and
[01:06:51] not
[01:06:51] necessarily
[01:06:52] knowing
[01:06:52] what you
[01:06:53] physically
[01:06:54] have
[01:06:54] as of
[01:06:55] yet
[01:06:57] now we
[01:06:58] can make
[01:06:58] assumptions
[01:06:59] and say
[01:07:00] well we
[01:07:00] think that
[01:07:01] Jabari Smith
[01:07:02] Jr.
[01:07:03] is not
[01:07:04] that guy
[01:07:04] or we
[01:07:05] think this
[01:07:06] person is
[01:07:07] is not
[01:07:07] suited for
[01:07:08] what the
[01:07:09] next iteration
[01:07:10] of the
[01:07:11] Houston
[01:07:11] Rockets
[01:07:11] is
[01:07:12] well until
[01:07:13] we really
[01:07:13] know
[01:07:15] are we
[01:07:16] ready to
[01:07:17] make this
[01:07:17] leap
[01:07:18] because
[01:07:18] as soon
[01:07:18] as you
[01:07:19] get
[01:07:19] De'Aaron
[01:07:19] Fox
[01:07:20] you're
[01:07:21] in a
[01:07:21] different
[01:07:21] situation
[01:07:22] you're
[01:07:23] in a
[01:07:23] different
[01:07:23] hemisphere
[01:07:25] now
[01:07:25] even if
[01:07:26] you have
[01:07:26] a good
[01:07:27] record
[01:07:27] this year
[01:07:28] and you
[01:07:29] go into
[01:07:29] the playoffs
[01:07:30] there's not
[01:07:31] going to be
[01:07:31] a lot of
[01:07:31] expectations
[01:07:32] on you
[01:07:33] if you
[01:07:34] get
[01:07:34] De'Aaron
[01:07:35] Fox
[01:07:37] expectations
[01:07:37] go through
[01:07:38] the roof
[01:07:39] you
[01:07:39] need
[01:07:41] to be
[01:07:42] in the
[01:07:43] second
[01:07:43] round
[01:07:44] in the
[01:07:45] conference
[01:07:45] finals
[01:07:46] this year
[01:07:47] right
[01:07:48] that is
[01:07:49] what people
[01:07:49] are going
[01:07:50] to want
[01:07:51] to expect
[01:07:51] from you
[01:07:52] you should
[01:07:53] be challenging
[01:07:53] OKC
[01:07:54] for the
[01:07:55] dominance
[01:07:56] of the
[01:07:56] Western
[01:07:56] Conference
[01:07:57] I don't
[01:07:58] think Houston
[01:07:59] is there
[01:07:59] yet
[01:07:59] I think
[01:08:00] they got
[01:08:00] a lot
[01:08:01] of intriguing
[01:08:01] pieces
[01:08:02] I think
[01:08:03] they are
[01:08:04] a phenomenally
[01:08:05] entertaining
[01:08:06] basketball team
[01:08:07] to watch
[01:08:07] but I
[01:08:08] really would
[01:08:09] like to see
[01:08:10] a whole
[01:08:11] year
[01:08:11] development
[01:08:12] I would
[01:08:13] like to
[01:08:13] see
[01:08:15] more time
[01:08:16] for Cam
[01:08:17] Whitmore
[01:08:17] and whatever
[01:08:18] I know
[01:08:19] we've talked
[01:08:19] about moving
[01:08:20] pieces to
[01:08:20] get
[01:08:22] players more
[01:08:22] development
[01:08:23] and things
[01:08:23] of that
[01:08:24] nature
[01:08:24] but
[01:08:25] again
[01:08:26] don't make
[01:08:28] a move
[01:08:29] until
[01:08:30] you're like
[01:08:31] OK
[01:08:31] I think
[01:08:32] that we
[01:08:33] would be
[01:08:34] OK
[01:08:34] without
[01:08:35] this
[01:08:36] person
[01:08:36] just
[01:08:37] my
[01:08:37] thoughts
[01:08:38] on that
[01:08:38] but
[01:08:40] before we
[01:08:41] get out
[01:08:41] of here
[01:08:41] we also
[01:08:42] need to
[01:08:43] highlight
[01:08:44] two things
[01:08:45] LeBron James
[01:08:46] turns 40
[01:08:47] years old
[01:08:47] today
[01:08:48] happy birthday
[01:08:49] to LeBron James
[01:08:50] happy birthday
[01:08:51] King
[01:08:51] we appreciate
[01:08:53] you here
[01:08:53] in the
[01:08:53] la la
[01:08:54] we got
[01:08:55] you
[01:08:55] DFS
[01:08:56] you're
[01:08:57] welcome
[01:08:59] the one
[01:09:00] remarkable
[01:09:00] thing about
[01:09:01] LeBron
[01:09:02] is that
[01:09:03] it's not
[01:09:04] the points
[01:09:04] because he's
[01:09:05] the all-time
[01:09:05] scoring
[01:09:06] leader
[01:09:06] it's not
[01:09:08] you know
[01:09:09] the wins
[01:09:11] and all
[01:09:11] this
[01:09:11] the thing
[01:09:13] that I
[01:09:13] find
[01:09:13] truly
[01:09:14] outstanding
[01:09:15] about
[01:09:16] LeBron
[01:09:17] is that
[01:09:18] we're still
[01:09:20] getting chased
[01:09:20] down blocks
[01:09:22] this dude
[01:09:23] is 40
[01:09:24] years old
[01:09:25] and we
[01:09:26] are getting
[01:09:27] chased down
[01:09:28] blocks
[01:09:28] it is
[01:09:30] super crazy
[01:09:31] I'm not
[01:09:32] saying that
[01:09:32] he's just
[01:09:33] a tremendous
[01:09:34] specimen
[01:09:35] and we
[01:09:37] should enjoy
[01:09:37] our time
[01:09:38] with him
[01:09:39] and
[01:09:40] Palenka
[01:09:40] again
[01:09:41] I'm not
[01:09:41] letting you
[01:09:42] off the
[01:09:42] hook
[01:09:42] this is
[01:09:43] the last
[01:09:44] thing I
[01:09:44] say
[01:09:44] Dorian
[01:09:45] Finney
[01:09:46] Smith
[01:09:46] was a
[01:09:47] good
[01:09:47] start
[01:09:48] but don't
[01:09:49] think
[01:09:50] the job
[01:09:51] is finished
[01:09:52] go out
[01:09:53] and get
[01:09:54] a little
[01:09:54] more help
[01:09:55] for
[01:10:03] in May
[01:10:04] alright
[01:10:05] so with
