[00:00:13] It's Thursday, you know what time it is. Front Runner Podcast Collective is back on the air in a weird back on the air early. Well that means big news just big news. The JJ Reddick higher has happened and now
[00:00:29] We can talk about it and go do everything that happened The other thing that we're gonna talk about tonight is so we're gonna talk about the Alex Caruso deal to okay see and We'll finish it up with a little NBA draft primer
[00:00:45] I said that I would get it to you. You would have it by Friday. It is a day early and By the time some of you hear this it might actually be Friday so Promise is kept. That's what we're here for
[00:00:59] But before we do all that we get to the socials first on X at Front Runner PC Now I know that there is a change coming with the producers of the show They're trying to work out whatever the new name of their
[00:01:19] Twitter handle or X handle that should be forth coming in the next day or so But I am glad to have Soria with us. I think she says she will be joining the podcast Monday and then we'll go from there
[00:01:34] Real sporadic she'll be on occasionally or whatever she's just here to keep the wheels turning and things of that nature The other thing that we can talk about Is the YouTube channel YouTube channel front runner podcast collective It will have clips probably from this show
[00:01:54] It will have clips from other shows We're trying to put more ever evergreen content up there for you guys to check out We've been doing that lately. I hope you guys go check out the YouTube channel front runner podcast collective and then
[00:02:12] It is right every day in this month of June which is a Great month we just celebrated June 10th yesterday Today we're doing a In a sense of bonus podcast and now We're breaking records This podcast has suppressed all Other months is ever done Congratulations to
[00:02:39] All the many people out there who are downloading the podcast so again. Thank you and You know what we say on this podcast be a friend tell the friend tell them about the Twitter Tell them or X account tell them about the YouTube channel
[00:02:57] front runner podcast collective and make sure you are downloading and Subscribe in and following the podcast very important increase the numbers That is my public service announcement And I know that the producers will absolutely love that I did it so there it is we've done our work there
[00:03:21] on to what we're here to talk well Now this podcast five weeks ago Had me mentioned that JJ Reddick was a candidate for the Laker a hair coaching position we actually did it in about more I
[00:03:40] knew some things some behind the same things and I thought I had a throwaway line and then the next week We talked about it a little bit more I think in that podcast I said that JJ through the through the mind-again podcast
[00:03:56] His shown his basketball IQ on he has a gracious Apputite for NBA knowledge and plays and what makes a great players tick and things of that nature And it seemed to build some sort of kinship with LeBron and JJ That kept going I think that he enticed
[00:04:20] LeBron with Breaking out plays. I think LeBron is a complete nerd Went comes to those that type of things He has no problem geeking out to plays and diagrams and seeing how you can get people open and what have you
[00:04:37] So I am very not shocked at all, but I'm also proud of this podcast and the reason why I'm proud of this podcast because I talk about it all the time We're independent podcasts the information that I get is because
[00:04:53] I put in 19 hours a day and I'm not kidding. I put in I write this podcast I now have producers so hopefully won't be 19 hours a day, but
[00:05:05] To get this information to you guys and to have it early and to really have it before everybody else was great So I hope you're telling your friends that you are getting the real scoop here and we are proud of our little w here
[00:05:23] So the other things is that what might make JJ a really good coach is not just because of the fact that he's recently retired JJ feels like it is a collaborative effort if you talk if you listen to JJ on his podcast and what have you
[00:05:43] When he's getting into the minds of really good players. I love a lot of the conversations that Tyre's Hall of Burton and JJ Retic have had
[00:05:53] I'm also enjoyed the conversations that doesn't mean being in JJ Retic have had on their on his old man and the three podcasts On the wonder he out somebody who now works for us you so work for them, but I believe that JJ and he is
[00:06:16] threshold of being able to give information to players and I think also He's gonna try to tap into hey how can we make you great in this position? How can we make you look good in this position? Kendrick Perkins of ESPN said something very telling he said
[00:06:38] Will JJ be able to communicate Speak their language Speak in a interview on 17 LA ESPN and also he said this I believe won't in VA today Earlier today and I look back at some of the podcasts that he did When I look at back at some of the
[00:07:02] conversations he's had and I think there is a real hey I'm gonna meet you on this level now. I think There is a you got to have this kind of buffer between you and the player And that's something that JJ is gonna have to learn
[00:07:20] Now depending on what his staff is going to look like as far as this concern A couple of the candidates that I have heard about but before we get into that let's get into some of the comments
[00:07:31] This one is from ESPN dot com JJ Retic has been officially hired by the makers and polica mentions that Retic is Understanding of the game and his ability to connect with the players is an invaluable We are excited that he is on board
[00:07:48] Redics transition from player to coach seems seamless given his podcast and media work where he He's consistently demonstrated they deep understand it. Oh basketball and now a actual credit actual quote From JJ Retic himself. I am thrilled to join the liquor's coaching staff
[00:08:09] It's a great so it's a great opportunity to contribute to a story franchise And then Rob Polinka our president of Player personnel said that JJ is basketball in mind and his dedication to the craft are exactly What we needed as we aim to develop our young talents now
[00:08:36] This is very important because I've been telling you guys for a little while I think that the laker said then in a sense kind of rebuilding and re-tooling under LeBron's nose Now, I think the catalyst or the genesis of this was probably during
[00:08:56] Or after the Westbrook trade we all know that the Westward trade didn't work for a lot of reasons one he did not fit What the lakers were and the lakers are still searching for it But they're better well placed now I'm sorry they're
[00:09:19] More better position now than they were when they had Westbrook on the squat No shade to Westbrook The only thing is that and you see it bare out with the clippers
[00:09:31] When you put him in a position where he's off ball he can go ahead and be in the dunkers spot and create havoc there He's very effective and when he can run the team and you can spread the floor and put shooters around him
[00:09:45] It also allows him to spray the wall around get into the paint get it kick it out to the three points shooter So now I think This situation now with the lakers yet it's different
[00:09:58] People are going to shit on this because he they're gonna say he's a pop-caster Let's see Jason kid is a player Billy Donovan actually played at the Providence but he won't he didn't really get the NBA situation Scott Skiles was a former player
[00:10:20] There's a lot of former players in the league now Steve Kerr Had a little bit of an advantage because he did have three to four years in Phoenix in the front office And I think that is In valuable Experience to then jettison you to the coaching position
[00:10:42] I don't think JJ rhetoric will we outwork. I don't think that JJ rhetoric will not be Imaginative on the offense. I don't think JJ rhetoric will have a Issue navigating the media here in Los Angeles
[00:10:59] I do not think that he will have a problem getting his point across to the front office and what he needs Here is the one problem and I go back to what Kendrick Perkins said This is a clear case of egg roll
[00:11:18] You need to talk to me in a way where it benefits me I know a lot of us as fans want to think that the all every 15 guys on the Boston Celtics
[00:11:37] We're pulling in the right direction right they were pulling in the same direction to win the championship now module I will tell you that that team was probably more cohesive than the most But every player on that team has a different agenda
[00:11:57] And it's the same with every franchise football basketball baseball soccer whatever you want to play What is that everybody has their own now they have their own agenda now they can Use their whatever whatever their North Star is and you can blend it into the team and
[00:12:22] Have it work for you. What the one thing about this is that JJ is going to have to isolate What motivates each and every player on the team and then cater his coaching prowess To each individual player now you say hey events that's a lot of will
[00:12:51] Players coach patch on the back type but tough The one thing about it's a state JJ is walking into a situation where No matter what LeBron says No matter what 80 says and actually tell you truth. I think there's a little I won't say division
[00:13:13] between the two what I will say that I'm going to give you a assistant coach candidate one second But I want to finish this thought JJ is going to be perceived in the locker room by certain players as a LeBron James hire there's no
[00:13:35] Getting around that there's no Trying to sugarcoat that it is what it is So the best thing that JJ can do is say hey look we're all in the same boat
[00:13:46] And listen I know you're trying to get a contract or I know that security means a lot to you or Wherever Meet the player wherever they are. I'll try to figure out where they are
[00:13:59] Well, you got some young players on that team. You guys some bets on that team. You guys some guys who are really trying to dig in and trying to Get to that next contract. There's a lot of different narratives and definite
[00:14:13] Individual thoughts going on right within an NBA squad and then this is not to say anything about what's going on in the front office Because he was the thing I said it on a podcast recently And it was part of this situation
[00:14:30] I don't think that JJ was ever Not the candidate. I Think the damn hurly thing. Yeah, I do believe there was somebody in the Lakers organization that was a little skittish on JJ and Maybe put out something there that maybe put a little pause on a situation
[00:14:56] But I said it before and also yet again They offer Dan Hurley six years and 70 million dollars That's actually less money than what Monti will you said? Monti will you sign for and Detroit? Who is now getting fired? And we talked about it
[00:15:17] In a previous podcast actually last one So go to archive pods and check that out the other thing Is that I don't Think I don't think that Hurley was ever going to accept that job unless he was like in between one five and one
[00:15:39] I think the Lakers knew that because this is basically the same salary that Kentucky Offer Dan Hurley when he won the title and they got rid of John Colopari who is now in Arkansas I believe
[00:15:57] That this was something that kind of throw off the scent of everybody because you know I'm going to report nits for about five weeks now and then everybody else started jumping on the bound wagon
[00:16:08] Oh, Sean's got in on it and he was talking to Wadi right around the same time I was talking to Wadi and I think they wanted to just slow the roll Not a lot this man to be a cost it during the NBA finals
[00:16:24] We got a real cool little three-day smoke screen out of Dan Hurley And then people were talking well egg on your face and all this and that and then all along the hook And here is the best part of this whole deal I find it funny
[00:16:43] That we do a podcast on Monday I'm sorry what's today again. I messed up with the days We do a podcast on Wednesday and we talk about money Williams being fired and how much he's old
[00:16:59] And I made a comment then I said trade-gen LinkedIn is now the player personnel guy and Detroit Money Williams gets fired the very next day and I have the tweet are not the tweet I have the DM I sent this last night
[00:17:20] I want to put this on a camera maybe I can black out the name of it who I talked to But I sent this last night. I think it has the actual Little time stand it was a DM that I sent last night
[00:17:33] I think I can take the name off of it. I think let's see Okay, not trying to be mean but I was trying to set up an interview with somebody to have them come on and And let's see See if I can do this without people saying everything
[00:18:00] You see all saying so we had this We knew the announcement was coming last night my sources are good I appreciate them very much what they do and I'm glad that we can bring that information to you Now with all that being said, we talked about
[00:18:19] The impact that we think that JJ is gonna have what he's gonna have to do the other thing that I want to talk about with this thing is with JJ is this is that let's talk about What I think they might do With the draft
[00:18:38] Which leads us to another thing that we're gonna talk about a little bit later. I think that Max Christie is gonna be helped by this. I think Austin Reeves is gonna be helped by this
[00:18:48] I think that I don't know well Javan Hooch is Fino because we got to see that dude shoot I'm not gonna not gonna give him love yet even though I love no coming out the draft
[00:18:57] But I'm not as much as I like something other dudes, you know, I'll say I'm your hotcast junior Damn, that'll never stop hurting Okay, the makers are gonna be looking for smart players. They're gonna be looking for players that can run multiple
[00:19:14] Type of actions they are going to be looking for quick decision makers and I think if they do draft somebody at 17 Make no mistake about it That person will not be a 19-year-old That person will probably 9 times of the 10 be a junior in the collegiate ranks
[00:19:42] Or senior in the collegiate ranks make no mistake about it I do the higher if you want my opinion. I like the higher and I think I said it when we really first start talking about JJ now that he is hired It is literally time to
[00:20:01] ID the people in the building who aren't huge JJ people and get them out I'm real serious about this now I don't think that the makers are in any Area of real contention now will that change with the draft and trades and whatever it could but
[00:20:27] I do I am skeptical what's going on with them I don't think you can win if LeBron James is your first option And I think it's very telling that JJ came out real early and said that
[00:20:48] For quarter, we're going to try to use our advantage with Anthony Davis I tell you a lot about What's going on? There in Lake Orlando, but That is that part of it now we do got another thing to get to
[00:21:09] And that is the Alex Coruso trade to okay see The trade was by ESPN Alscaruso is going to trade it to the okay see thunder and exchange for picks for a great role player One of the
[00:21:30] Somebody that I talked to they said that the trade seemed to be like a strategic move By the bulls to acquire future assets while giving okay a strong defense of guard Sam Presty expressed enthusiasm about Coruso's addition Siding his defense of prowess and his leadership qualities
[00:21:51] Obviously he's adding experience now this is from Arturus carnizabish while always butcher his name this trade allows us to focus on our long-term goals Well providing okay see with a player who can Help make an impact immediately Now Couple my analytics people said that his de-
[00:22:12] Crucels defense of metrics His defense of win shares and his defense of box plus minus rank him among Top guards and elite the fit For Coruso with okay see obviously he Provides a bunch of versatility he can
[00:22:30] Guard three positions pretty easily even though he's not really that big I wish you would shoot it more Personally I wish he would cause he'd very selective with his shooting but he does shoot pretty well The other thing is that this is a quite an interesting little turnaround
[00:22:49] Mark diagonal the now Culture the year mark diagonal of the Oklahoma City Thunder He had Alex Coruso in the g league with the their g league affiliate
[00:23:03] When he was the head coach down there so I think as far as being able to pick up the system and being able to see what Diagnol wants to do Not just because Coruso is so down smart and such a damn heavy player
[00:23:17] Well also because of the fact that they have a they have a built-in relationship Oh he was on the early stages of the Alex Coruso journey That's what we used to call them out here LA We used to call them AC fresh and the Coruso
[00:23:36] Okay, but Alice Coruso is now a Oklahoma City Thunder Mark people in Oklahoma City has tagged Thunder up y'all make some noise for my guy
[00:23:49] Treat my guy by the way that dude got me a check-in ship out here 2020 and for you people who say it's a bubble championship and it doesn't count suck it it does count Anyways, I am really thrilled about that situation. I think this is a
[00:24:06] Crease and it was giddy who left and we talked about this we talked about that he had fallen out of favor in Oklahoma City We talked about the the possibility of moving on from Josh giddy
[00:24:20] We also talked about the possibility of maybe case and Wallace joining that starting group And I still don't I still do not think that's out of the question I am very excited about the possibilities and I think that Sam Prestey
[00:24:36] Getting an early start before they dropped even starts is another Another great Prestey move that I'm just so jealous that just such a great GM He's so good so damn good
[00:24:54] Shots out to Prestey and Shots out to what he does man and in all their player development and and scouting people They do a great job down there the next thing that I want to get to is We have a segment here that
[00:25:10] We would like to call the NBA draft Ladies and gentlemen, I know it has been a long time. I know we had teased this forever And I know that I told you that it would be on the website and I still am going to make that promise work
[00:25:31] But in the meantime We actually do have an actual Mod draft for the top 14 so your lottery situations I'll get to get into it. I don't want to talk about each player a little bit of some players I won't go crazy into
[00:25:51] Certain players. I because we are talked about them certain and then I will also give you what I thought to on these players or See, I want to make sure that I have everything here. Okay. Yeah. We have everything so let's go Now
[00:26:07] The other day I did something and I said something and I want to not retract it But I had a conversation with somebody yesterday and We were really getting into the whole Alex saw of it all and the reason why
[00:26:24] You know I respect this guy. He let's go out and he He's a great mind when it comes to these things and I have this thing about theoretical Right theoretical talent
[00:26:38] And one of the things that I talk about is that I don't want somebody who's just super athletic And really doesn't have anything that translates to
[00:26:47] Winning basketball in a situation where I'm just waiting on this kid for three years and then I'm already going to have to be talking Extension and I really haven't gotten anything out of him and then I had a conversation
[00:27:04] And I'm not saying it changed my mind but it did I'm always open to say hey okay, let me see if I'm wrong here and we were really Focusing in on Alexander's arm and my whole thing was like do can't shoot it on 20
[00:27:22] 28% from three. It doesn't seem to have the feel of the game that I look for In a play and the person who does scouting who's been doing this for quite some time
[00:27:35] He saw a lot of actual Alexander Alexander over there and he said to me basically hey listen All the what you're saying is right if we put prospects from last year or from a couple years ago
[00:27:48] They're going to be at the point they are and at the point he is right now. They're going to be vastly different He also uses some kind of he uses a measuring system for these
[00:28:01] Drap potential drop prospect and the way he measures them out he said that it's basically akin to if you started the draft At 10 I think you just start working your way down. You just start working your way down from there and I said okay, and
[00:28:22] I think I mentioned that kind of thought process on our podcast before you can see I've had many conversations with this person And basically what we got to with SARS this is that yes It's all theoretical
[00:28:36] It is but there are glimpses that show you that it could happen. I still will tell you Person for me I still think he thinks the game a lot I don't think it's
[00:28:51] Fluid I don't think it's organic. I don't think it's natural. I don't think he's getting a ball I said I know exactly what I'm about to do. I see the guy standing in the corner But he's hedging towards the lane
[00:29:04] So what I'm going to try to do is draw his attention and kick it out to the three point guy and whatever The case thing, you see it in like very like slivers a windows with him and you think that the light bulb is coming on I
[00:29:21] Don't know if that will happen now here is what I will say as a caveat Then we'll get into everything and the mock draft and whatever the case may be now He was Coming off the bench
[00:29:38] He didn't get 36 minutes of just run a runway to develop skills in whatever the case would be Which is the same thing that I said about a Zachary risousier On the last pot go check out that archive pot
[00:29:55] But I'm open to the idea because to do this seven feet tall It's 220 pounds you can't handle the ball a little bit The shot is not ugly. It's a pretty shot. It also has a softness to it to a shot He average 18.4
[00:30:15] No, he's saying this thing right now he ever select 9.8 points and again over there Now One of the quotes that was said to me was that SARS defense abilities and his potential to grow into his offensive game Make him a top pick
[00:30:36] Again, we are really banking on that offensive game Really matriculating and Flurishing into something Real okay I Still believe that if I was going to take a prospect number one I don't know if I would take Alexander's star
[00:31:01] But he is up there on consensus number one boards now with that being said Our top 14 looks like this. This is not because it's a I think I said the wrong thing I said did I say mock yeah, I said mock it is a mock drop
[00:31:18] So here's what I'm gonna give you on mock this is not what this is uh What we think The teams are going to do I think personally I don't think that Atlanta is gonna draft number one I'm hearing a lot of Donovan clinging rumors To Atlanta
[00:31:41] And I don't know if you have to be number one to get that I don't think you can go down at five or six What I think you can go to three And get that as far as the number one overall pick is concerned
[00:31:57] It all depends on who's gonna have this pick On Thursday so next week And then okay, I don't know who's gonna have this pick So I will put dot of Enclining
[00:32:13] At the number one slot which is because of fact that Atlanta has the pick and I know that they seem to really covet him Here's the thing with Donovan clinging it took me a long time okay. I Resisted this forever What he's seven two
[00:32:29] He's played on two championship teams. I'm not gonna go through the winter thing here's what I do know Do can move his feet on defense? He can get out He is a drop coverage type of guy but he can
[00:32:43] Provide some hedging and and get not on dudes so I took that part The presence that he shows when he has the ball in his hands and he's intrafic Is great Because he never looks like oh my god, there's three dudes on me
[00:33:03] What should I do now? He knows exactly what to do And here's the great thing about Donovan clinging yes people will talk about the defense. Yes, it is I love it He can catch the damn ball
[00:33:19] Okay, that's what I'll tell you so for somebody who I was 14 points again almost 10 Rebound and and and down near four blocks at three points seven. I mean he's at analytics darling his defense of rating was 87.5 and his block percentage was 12.1
[00:33:39] One of the quotes that I got from my analyst was that his defense Ruby is calling card But his untapped offensive potential and that's basically rolling to the rim And short roll to the rim
[00:33:56] Also kicking out to threes he does it at a woofly high rate a dive in clinging in of ucon Is our number one over our pick not because we think he should go number one It's because right now we think Atlanta really likes them
[00:34:14] I don't think they'll take a number one. I think they'll move down and then we'll go from there Now if that's the case that means what wash your tins on the clock
[00:34:27] Who's on the clock? I don't know who's on clock. Watch this on a lot. Yeah, watch this on the clock Now wash it in here's thing. It doesn't matter We watch it in you just take talent now if you are going for Like complete upside
[00:34:48] Excuse me you have to take soar Here's the thing I'm not a big fan I'm not but To have somebody 70 who feels comfortable playing on the perimeter feels comfortable Handling the basketball to an extent at least to a point where if the outside shot does Continue to progress
[00:35:21] He can stand in the short corner Comp fake and then go to the hole. I think that He would be excellent number two over all pic if for some reason clean and went number one Now if I want you to him personally
[00:35:43] And I got a lot of theoretical dudes on my team right now I probably would go with somebody a little safer Just upgrade the talent see what abdia is a little bit more You still got coosoma on the squad
[00:35:58] It can't get any worse with Jordan pool correct. I don't know a number three now this is an interesting one because I'm here. I'm here a lot smoke but Houston Is still on the fence about jailing green Reach Shepherd is to me Chesa he's a fantastic guard
[00:36:27] The only thing we talked about on the last spot. I'm not gonna go through everything He's just a sharp shooter He just absolutely kills it he scores a ton He can assist he can give you He's scrappy with a rebounding and here's the best part
[00:36:44] Advance analytics true shooting percentage for our guy re-shepard was 57.2% and his offensive box plus minus was 6.8 So I'm gonna tell you right now. I love this kid. I don't I think he's going to be able to shoot it I worry I still worry about the height, but
[00:37:05] Man, I think the shooting gonna translate. Don't translate And somebody said that his shooting is so highly coveted This is why people are like falling over themselves to get into the top five to go grab this dude And then at number four
[00:37:31] Now we talked about this guy on the last spot too Define castle He's going around telling people that he's a point guard. I don't think he's a point guard I don't know if he'll ever shoot it enough to be a point guard
[00:37:45] He's incredibly athletic on the defensive end. He'll be able to do all kinds of crazy stuff for you He had a offensive box plus minus of 5.5 and What one of the college basketball analysts said to me was that Castle's versatility and his willingness to do the dirty work
[00:38:06] We'll make him a valuable asset at the next level now His handlers or his people are telling everybody that he wants to be a point guard and I think I gave out the stat yesterday But I'll give it again He had 73
[00:38:24] On ball possessions where he was a primary initiator and in those 73 times 59 times he took the shot You do what that What you will We got so are we got did the duh okay now we get to the fifth pick and now Detroit
[00:38:45] If this falls to them this way they will be ecstatic and I love Zachary Rousseff-Shay from board in Breezy France he is a six foot nine wing now here's the thing there is no actual evidence of this of him being able to
[00:39:16] Put the ball onto the floor and initiate Offence for others My guy can shoot it My dot my guy can pump fake Reposition and shoot He does not create I've been told I've been sworn to that he can But I still do not have
[00:39:43] Visual evidence of this situation so I cannot tell you that but People tell me he can but he can shoot it and he could defend He also does little things he does backscreens Up to catch people all guard on napping and getting people open
[00:40:00] He is a really good defender. He understands space Very well He is able to guard two positions at once He knows exactly what it's stand when he's guarding the short corner and the paint Also if you're trying to cut off the drive
[00:40:17] If somebody's at the top of the key with the pick and roll we'll got somebody in the short corner So guard comes off and he's trying to attack the paint Zachary resets a set up so well where he is literally because of his length And it's wingspan
[00:40:34] He's able to Literally get right into the lane very quickly And cut off any kind of penetration by the guard. He's gonna be able to shoot the ball And he's gonna be all defended now Other than that I am no idea No earthly clue
[00:40:58] But if he can turn out to be like a 3 and D glam rice Kids look the name up Glam Rice just look you gonna be happy when you do it You gonna be happy what glam rice was a gray shooter in the NBA and for his time
[00:41:18] He was a gray shooter the guys now are great better shooters, but he was a sharp shooter for his day and I think this kid reminds me a little bit of that just because he's such a confident shooter
[00:41:31] Like nothing affects him like somebody running at him or yelling at him as they run or somebody on the bench When he's in the corner shooting the three that none of that phases him and it's a it's a remarkable
[00:41:45] Situation for somebody who is not is damn near just turning 19 so it's crazy that way All right, so now we move on to six and this is where we get into the crazy zone All
[00:42:04] I hated to do it but I finally did do it. I looked at some Mattis who zealous tape and I'm gonna tell you Who zealous is a guy who intrigues me a little bit But I am scared all by his shooting
[00:42:22] Hasn't gotten better it wasn't good in high school It did not get it did not get any better in the g league and I'm still What are we doing here if the shot came along if this dude was shooting like 36%
[00:42:38] I think this dude will go like top three easy he might go one Because he does have a handle but I'm not as
[00:42:47] I'm not as high on who zealous is that would be all certain other dudes as far as certain and we'll talk about a guy in a second But I wish I just saw more and I'll tell you this. I think that the g league in night program being
[00:43:07] Being showed and somebody's kids being able to go to college. I think it's gonna help them And I think he would have been one of them I'm doing a terrible job. I'll tell you these guys are like six nine he played in g league
[00:43:22] I did okay. I did tell you that word The next guy on this list is a guy that I'm really excited and you should be too Is wrong dealing him Robert Dilly him out of Kentucky. He's a six foot one guard
[00:43:36] They list him at 180 this dude is not close to 180 I think he could eat probably Five walkers with cheese and the bacon You he could do it's like a southwestern walker and I still don't think he'll be 180 So
[00:43:54] He's small but he is a lightning quick staying in front of him is going to be a huge Issue in the NBA and he is a certified bucket His size is gonna be his limitation is gonna be basically what's gonna either lock
[00:44:10] him to a reserve roll or if he can overcome it But as far as his playmaking is concerned and being able to get valuable paint touches and be able to kick it out Two people who are behind the three point line you'll be able to do that
[00:44:27] You will be able to do that And this league we just don't know how he'll be able to stand up to the physicality But if he gets a runaway He's able to accelerate you're not touching them
[00:44:40] He had a he had a uses rate of 30% last year as pretty cool He has more a lot. I wish he would have given it to reach effort a little bit
[00:44:49] One of the quotes from NBA scout that I know said Dilly Hems of Guility to score the basketball and punches Makes him an intriguing prospect despite his size limitations Says limitations what size but intriguing because the dude scores the basketball
[00:45:12] We're gonna see a lot at that with these prospects. I'm trying to tell you this is not gonna be This is the best way I can explain this draft Usually when you I told this to my wife a long time ago and no I'll tell you guys sometimes
[00:45:30] You have moms you have dads you have sisters you have brothers you have uncles you have cousins You have whatever yeah girlfriend. She has husbands you have fiancees you have wives you have wives you have significant others whatever
[00:45:44] What I've always said that if you take the title off the person And then Or however they're speaking to you in that particular You know put in time if you took the title of that person with that person be able to speak to you in the matter
[00:46:00] That they do right And that's to go on and say about this draft the same thing Is that this draft Is that you'll look at the number one overall pick and you get the exciting because it's the number one overall pick But You got to look at
[00:46:23] Maybe the zenith of a lot of these guys is Like a starter They might make and and all start team but they're not making 10 all start teams Now somebody could fool us somebody could come out break out of the pack
[00:46:47] But for what I've been hearing from skeleton and talent evaluators you might get a couple to four dudes that make a All start team A lot of people don't see a lot of all NBA talent out here
[00:47:06] But I still think there are a lot of guys in here are gyms in here They can help you team so if you look at it from that point of view if you look at At from that POV I think you could have a
[00:47:20] Really good experience with your rookie. I'm just trying to soften the the blow for the number one to Number six picks out here don't look at your dude as some dude who's gonna come in and guarantee you 24 plus a minute's a game and he's getting you like 15 points
[00:47:43] He's giving you like five six rebounds or five or six assists in the birthday year. It probably won't happen All right That leads us to our next guy who I'm really excited about now this is Dalton connect out of ten a c
[00:47:57] He's a wing he's probably just probably more of a guard he's six with five He can shoot it he he capitalize bro this dude put up 25 plus points gang Intent to see just killing it killing the gang a late in the year he I was 21 0.5
[00:48:19] Total six point two is rebound and three point for a Sys again, but Toys in the year I want to say from mid January on here was 25 points again So he was getting buckets Now he is an analytics darling. They love him his true shooting percentage is 59%
[00:48:41] His offense of win shares is four point two and I had a Ingrid analyst give it give us this connect scoring ability and his experience make him already May contribute or for the NBA because you can stick them in the short corner and say hey do this
[00:48:59] And he's not gonna get lost on defense. Oh, he's not gonna be great But he's not gonna get lost It's gonna rebound a little bit. He's got a little toughness to him a little. Hey, man don't try to punk me
[00:49:13] Even though he looks like richy cutting-hael from happy days Our next guy that is on our list is Cody Williams this is the brother of jailing Williams which is J. Dub The guy from Santa Clara We always have to make that distinction. I don't know why
[00:49:30] McCurdy Williams played his freshman year at Colorado He's a six seven forward He's a little bit skinnier than his brother. He had an open dial season. I will say Some people Point that he had an ankle injury towards the end of the year and that really affected his
[00:49:50] Shooting and also his aggressiveness to go to the ramp He had a 15 point four points again six point two rebounds at three point nine assist He did play a overall game. He's a cis percentage
[00:50:05] This is a lot of analytics level 24 point seven percent so he's a cis percentage So this is an advanced analytics stat if you are like in 16 range or anything like that It's usually great this dude was at 24.7
[00:50:20] His defensive box plus minus was 4.8 and I got this from one talent a value a talent a value ator Williams is a do it all like he called him a Swiss army knife
[00:50:34] He excels at multiple facets of the game the thing that I think will happen with him is that Unlike his brother, he is going to develop at the NBA level where his brother came in And he had a couple years under his belt
[00:50:52] He only played one so the jump between At the end of the start of last year to what he's going to look like at the end of next year It's probably going to be very vast
[00:51:08] What I do love me some Cody Williams. I the problem with Cody is this He doesn't shoot it well, but I look at his
[00:51:19] I look at his brother and I go man if that dude can shoot it. I noticed dude can shoot it so I'm banking on the jeans and the traits We'll see Now
[00:51:33] Ron Holland is our next guy. He's our tenth overall he played for the g league and night Ron Holland is like six eight he's a physical specimen. We talked about him yesterday I brought up the name Marcus Liberty and when I was talking to a talent a valueator
[00:51:51] Today And then talked about Ron Holland and I brought up Marcus Liberty. He said you know what that's that's about right That's a pile right now Ron Holland at six eight 220 pounds he's a physical freak
[00:52:07] He's gonna walk into the NBA and there's not going to be one person gonna be pushing Ron Holland around at all Okay, now can he shoot it? Absolutely not he cannot shoot it Now he's explosive when he gets an opening But he is prone to turnovers
[00:52:32] In the game like in Excusible ones just it's is bad But his defense and his ability to move his feet you're just waiting for the shooting to come around And this is a lot like Matisse Stable right
[00:52:49] Good defender now. Here's the one thing that once got told me They didn't think his defense was that good they thought that he was sloppy on defense that he was lazy Not in the sense of lazy but What I mean by that?
[00:53:05] Lazy in the sense of that he was going for steals and he would put his team in bad positions a lot Was that glee coaching was that Ron Holland going off the reservation Doing his all thing. I don't know But that is the word on my guy
[00:53:26] Now we get to a namesake Devon Carter guy out of Providence he is six foot two. He is a junior So he is a you know a lot a little bit longer than the tooth
[00:53:38] Here's the one thing that I've heard about Devon Carter in the workout's a pre-draft He's absolutely a annihilating people He's absolutely killing people he's shooting it. He's getting people's jerseys He's not allowing them to breathe
[00:53:55] This is a bigger version of do some McBride and I love this kid I think he's gonna make it in the league and here's the things that I love Here's the things that absolutely love he has long arms For somebody six two he can shoot it
[00:54:11] He can he's not your point guard, but he can handle it 14.5 points again five point two re-mounds again that tells you he's a tough little son of a gun And three point four six again His defense of rating was 95 point Zero his stills percentage was 3.1 and
[00:54:33] Here is what a scout told me his defensive prowess his He's not just as defensive prowess, but his defensive prowess and his exuberance for defense allows him to play at such an energetic level on that side We just hope that the offensive game can round itself out
[00:54:58] All right, that's Devon Carter. That's my guy from Providence. We like him a lot Then the next guy on this list is a guy is hard to talk about it's in the color tokage
[00:55:09] I was high on this guy early in the season. I'm still high on him. I think he's a stash guy He's six six he played on KK zebra Zavita that's for Serbia He's a wizard at passing
[00:55:26] He can get you into positions and we would manipulate the defense with his eyes He sees the game like two three steps ahead Here's my thing with them. I don't know he's fast slow don't know what he had a knee injury that really slowed him down Which is
[00:55:45] Super it was so unfortunate, but I don't know if he's gonna even play this year to tell you truth What the injury concern would put him in a situation where
[00:55:57] You're one of my trying to say you're not gonna see him until late next late in the season if at all This is truly a A stash and dash guy This is not some way that you can
[00:56:11] Really depend on on him took we making any sort of impact on your team so you really just If you like to play making an ability you think the shot will come along and you have enough of defense
[00:56:24] Around him I think he would be a really good choice or he can be like a six man off the bench Tajani Salon is another kid from a friend. He's six foot nine
[00:56:34] He can't shoot no, I don't I'll take that he can shoot it. He didn't get a lot of chances to shoot it Personally you know you're having five or six points of game and the league
[00:56:43] They love his potential for offense because he does he's more fluid of athlete Then our guy Risa Shay Risa's taking shoot it, but not as gifted Of athlete as Salon His potential right now is on the defense side of ball. We are really looking for the offense again
[00:57:07] To come around now here's the other thing with him is that you are looking at a guy that probably play a lot of Glygames personally he needs to just get shots
[00:57:18] See what he can do and they start working with that and then our last guy on the list and I put him here because I'll tell you why He was a highly Tauic prospect coming out coming out out of high school and he had a bad year
[00:57:34] Mostly because USC was terrible and that's Isaiah call year. I know you guys thought Barney James I know you guys thought Barney you guys are I look on footage. Barney James is the 14th overall select come on now Stop that all right
[00:57:50] So he's a six foot three power guard basically he's a big boy 215 Now when he was in high school He was oh he was absolutely complete weapon now Was he just more physically gifted and stronger than everybody else and did the college game catch-out tool or Did
[00:58:13] Ednfield to say dude. I don't know I'm getting paid a lot of money go dunk the glass wall or not I don't care of that team was a mess all year personally for me And I didn't like some of the habits that Isaiah call year got into
[00:58:29] But I can understand as somebody who is extremely talented and probably just super competitive He was just like effort. I'm gonna just do me I look for this guy to have a bounce back year. He has to go to the right team. I think there's
[00:58:44] Some explosiveness with him and you can get him at 14 I think you got a wall player here even if this dude is just a super sub off the bench Your six man just getting crazy buck is off the bench that's still supremely valuable so there's that Um
[00:59:05] Telling a value winner call your size and play making ability to make him a stand-out prospect a medium member Isaiah call your ability to control the game and make plays for others makes him a top pick
[00:59:18] I love this kid. I do I think I wish we would solve better out of him honestly We didn't but at the end of the day I would give him a pass just because Just the extreme situation he was in
[00:59:35] He was in this situation with what you see with Ronnie Jane and all of when all And all of what it went on with that so what that being said we got you
[00:59:46] The JJ ready we got you to ask Crucel and we finally got you some draft stuff couple things One I don't think we'll be doing a podcast tomorrow. So that would be the fourth podcast So we're doing this one today
