[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Pretty much their entire squad was hurt last year

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you have the noron when's pelicans which you have the fascination was Zion

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: He lost weight

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: What you got to brand in anger and thing hang over the head also dejante Murray and we're gonna talk about all these things

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But they're just a really fascinating division and then there's Houston

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_00]: San Antonio there's so much going on in this division and I can't wait to get to it

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And we're gonna get into that pretty much right now and just remember right after that

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna get into the player profiles for the top 25

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 and under so let's get to it first we have the Dallas Mavericks over under

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Looks like it's

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_00]: 49 and a half

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let's talk about them a little bit. They had a 50 and 32 record

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_00]: This was a tale of two teams if you think about it

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: The first half of the year before the trade a grant Williams

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: wasn't

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: fitting in remember he was the free agent signing from Boston to Dallas

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_00]: He just didn't fit in for whatever reason it didn't seem to work and then they make the trade

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: That rings in PJ Washington and Daniel Gaffert and they take off from there and this team just rises and rises

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And gets to the NBA finals obviously on the back of

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Luca Donchich who's one of the best players in the game. Let's get into some of his stats last year

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Look at how to choose he had a silly year

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: This is some of the advanced metrics his offense of rating was 117.5

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Now his defensive rating was 112.3 not great obviously that's gonna be

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_00]: The Luca Conundrum as we continue to go forward

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: His box plus minus however was a positive 8.5

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And he had a value over replacement player of 8.7

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Donchich remains the centerpiece of the Mavericks offense, showcase and social

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me showcasing his elite

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: combination of playmaking scoring his ability his

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Bosporus minus reflex is overall dominance

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Through that obviously his defense of rating suggests that he still needs a lot of defensive improvement

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: now

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I test right because we mix the analytics with our eyes here. I try to bring in some of the new school with some of the old school

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And as you saw in the finals and as you saw in certain matchups

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Luca just he can use his size and his bulk

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: To a better advantage than he does

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: He tends to save a lot of the reserves for offense

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Now understand that he carries such a heavy load and he's so pivotal to what they do offensively

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: But for Dallas to reset like next level that level where okay we

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Think about it this way. Boston beat the Mavericks

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_00]: In a sense without Chris Dawd porous and guess

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: For half of that series it is what it is

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: So if that's the case

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: We know they're close

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But what's gonna take them to the next level

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Is marginal gains and it's gonna be marginal gains by their biggest players which will be Luca Dodger to what have you

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Just clay understand

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_00]: the role that he's playing now

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not saying that this is gonna be hard for Clay Clay is one of the greatest players to ever do it and

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_00]: His skill set fits what the Mavericks want to do

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: They want somebody they want this is the replacement to

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Not only dairy Jones Jr, but this is the replacement to Tim Hardaway Jr

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_00]: This is the replacement to

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: For some reason quitting grinds who they didn't like

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I am

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm also already they got going grinds in the trade. I'm sorry apologize

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I think if you look at it this you in a kind of a vacuum

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Replacement for Tim Hardaway

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_00]: We're quantum grinds might be the replacement for dairy Jones Jr

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Quintron grinds fell out of favor

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_00]: In New York because he wasn't like this great three point shooter, but he wasn't terrible

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And then he went to Detroit after he left the next and a trade and

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_00]: He just didn't play a lot with the pistons which was odd

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_00]: But it was just one of those things and I think Clay tossing in a more

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Suitable role where he's a tertiary piece and not necessarily like a primary or secondary piece

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: He's not a 1 a or 1 b now. He is really considered like option 3

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So it does the case. I think that this is going to be a perfect role for him

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I think

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: also

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Getting Quintron was

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely a steel for the Dallas Mavericks and I think what they done to their team

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_00]: With the limited amount of assets that they have and drive capital that they had

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they done a tremendous job kind of filling in the gaps

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And also making their offense more potent by these free agent and trade signings

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: So

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_00]: 49 and a half I think that

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Dallas is definitely a team in less injury before them

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I think there are teams that should definitely be over

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: 49 and a half so that I would take the over on that

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_00]: The next team that we're going to talk about is the Memphis Grizzlies now the Memphis Grizzlies

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Their win total last year was 27 and 55 it was a tough gear for the Grizzlies

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: You remember the injuries you remember just

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Just the sick feeling you felt when jogged at hurt and then Desmond being followed pretty much close

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Behind him and then there was in and out of the lineup with Jiren Jackson Jr

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And Marcus smart got hurt so it was just a domino effect

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And you just throw that season away but now

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Here we are again and Memphis is healthy

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Jama rant is healthy and when jog is healthy

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: things are a lot better this is a real top

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_00]: flight player when his

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_00]: mind is correct and when he is

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: completely engaged jog morang continues to be one of the

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_00]: NBA's most electrifying young players

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Excelling and driving to the room and creating play plays where his teammates however

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_00]: His defense remains a concern as we flexed in his defense of rating

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And his defensive box plus minus which is a negative 1.7

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_00]: He still has room for growth

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: As a player especially on the defensive side

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_00]: now

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: He had the injury last year and then he had this suspension

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Two years ago

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Now my whole situation with this is that I'm hooking with

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_00]: the time off

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_00]: From the suspension and now the

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_00]: injury I hope John has had a time to reflect on his career and also the frailty of how things work in the NBA things aren't promised

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_00]: They're not just giving oh you got to go out there and

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Where carding be appreciative of what you have and really maximize the gifts while you have them

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_00]: They're a really good

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_00]: first rate organization

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_00]: To have these type of situations pop up on the rise

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Probably was really difficult for them, but the one thing about this is that they do shoot straight with their talent

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's a clear message to jaw on what they expect

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_00]: What what Zach Climin expects what Tashon Prince expects

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: From Josh this year

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: now

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Keep in mind that they also draft his Zach Edy

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_00]: He was drafted he was the ninth overall selection this year the 7 foot for

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_00]: 299 pound

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Wouldn't award winner two times I guys like Edy

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Helded down at Purdue. I'm now here's the thing his role is changing in the NBA

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: He's the focus he's the offensive focus for Purdue because he's seven foot four

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_00]: He does has some skill cysts that

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Offensively work you have some skill sense defensively also work but

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_00]: They

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Told him at Purdue his code of mark painter

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Told him to be less aggressive on the defensive side because of the fact that they didn't need him to get in

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Fowtrable because he was the offensive club

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_00]: He was the offensive motor that ran the Purdue offense

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna see a

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Different Zach Edy then we've ever seen before

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's a more unleafed Zach Edy he will be able to be more aggressive and take more chances on the defense of and then I'm looking forward

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_00]: He's a drop coverage center mostly but they're saying that his mobility is a lot better than what I

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Believe it to be and we're just gonna have to see it

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_00]: We're just gonna have to see it a lot of people are comparing him to a bigger

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Jonas Validus

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And if that works out that's great

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_00]: With Memphis went total

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go back to that

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: They are expecting that to be the same the thing as well because their window is 47 and a half

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: By getting Zach Edy and filling their their their whole in the middle

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_00]: You can see why that Vegas and others are excited about them now they're coming back to a really stack west

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: a

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: team where

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Others have been able to grow since John has been on the court now

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Where does geront Jackson Jr. fit into his room? is he the number two is Desmond number three or is Desmond Bane the number two

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And geront Jackson Jr. the number three

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_00]: These are all things that need to be worked out

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_00]: So these are the things that we have to look for and also we never really did get to see

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_00]: What Marcus smart could bring to the Memphis Grizzlies with the array of talent around him

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: or

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Would he be a detest attraction to them now? Mark is this a good dude?

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He is a team first guy. He will he's a lunch pill guy. I don't think that's the situation but

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they like to get after it. They like to talk trash. They like to do a lot of that and I wonder

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Where everything hey we keep a straight lace and we professional to the I'm not saying that

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Memphis doesn't do that

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_00]: But they allow their players to show their personality more and I wonder if that fits

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Our guy Marcus smart will find out this year. It's going to be interesting to find out

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Now we move on to the New Orleans Pelicans now the New Orleans Pelicans had a really interesting gear and they had a really interesting

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Off season

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_00]: First they're foremost their record last year was 49 and the the

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 49 33

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: There will their win total over under is 46 and a half

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Now a lot has gone on with them. I don't know if you guys have seen Zion lately, but he is

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: He looks

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Different looks like the body type of this composition is completely changed

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be interested to see what his body fat

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Comes in at his body fat percentage comes in at because he looks like a completely different dude

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Just saying

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Now obviously Zion is the key person to this team his offense of rating last year was 118.4

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_00]: His defensive rating was 112.1 he had a box plus minus of 6.5

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And a value over replacement of 4.1 Zion remains a dominant force in the paint but win healthy

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_00]: But injuries is limit him his playing time making his durability a concern

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_00]: His offense rating highlights his elite scoring efficiency inside

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Quote the key for us is Zion self

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_00]: We have seen how much he can change gains when he is on the floor sick

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Head coach Willy Green and we saw it as soon as Zion left the court what he popped well as his hamstring

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_00]: At the end of the year and how different that team looked

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing that's going on is this is that we got some new faces in the building as well

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Dejante Murray came over from the Atlanta Hawks

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_00]: He will man the point guard position the hopes is that with Dejante Murray being more of a third option

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_00]: for now

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_00]: For now I say and maybe even later because I have a lot of thoughts on the pelicans but

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: With Dejante Murray being a lesser

[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_00]: The need of him being like this offense carrier

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_00]: is not as much in New Orleans that it was in Atlanta

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and they're hoping that I'll return

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_00]: To his defensive prowess

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Well also help elevate the New Orleans pelicans

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_00]: He's still young guys like 27 years age, so all these things are on the table

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you lose what you had in San Antonio that quickly

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I think maybe it was just a bad situation for him in Atlanta, bad fit and the whole thing

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Now the other thing we really need to talk about with the New Orleans pelicans is two or three things

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: One they don't have a center still

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_00]: We're still waiting

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Now ease me see

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Who they is the kid they drafted out of bailer

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: With their draft pick he's seven foot like 230 pounds super athletic

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: But I think it would be a disservice to put that young man who is very raw

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And and play center at the NBA level

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Because people eat him up

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing is this is that what's going on with Brandon Ingram

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: We can get to it now Brandon Ingram

[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't go to voluntary account

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00]: So lot of teams have like pre-camp before the camp starts kind of

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Get everybody acclimated to where everybody likes the ball and what have you and also bill camaraderie and things this nature

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_00]: And our guy Brandon Ingram said not not doing that enough feeling that and then there was a quote on

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_00]: His social media basically saying that I don't associate with people that do not know my worth or do not value my worth

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And he left it like that and said dooses what does this mean does is he coming to camp

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Because the for you know the first question

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Is Brandon what's up how you doing how you feel

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And you know what Brandon's going to be talking I want my money

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Gutsy on defense he's probably gonna have the most concussions in the league that do gets hit in the face with elbows

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_00]: More than anybody I've ever seen in my whole entire life

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_00]: His face must be a magnet for elbows

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's amazing to me

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_00]: That this man is still walking and playing basketball

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Shout out to our guy Daniel Tyson so 46 and a half now there's a lot of

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Upheaval in
