[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Around the internets and go from there. But before we get there, let's talk about the socials first and foremost

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: X or Twitter however you like to call it at front runner PC

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: That is my handle you get me there

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing is is that you can get our producers at where a underscore funch

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_00]: FRPC and I want to make a little comment now our guy fudge is under the weather

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: underscore fudge FRPC

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing is this YouTube channel. We're going to be posting stuff. I'm behind it's my fault

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: But we're gonna have a ton of stuff coming. We've been really working on something really kind of important

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna get up to date with the videos very soon so front runner podcast collective on YouTube

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the support with the Atlanta video when we talk about Trey young

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Also, thank you for the support for the Detroit

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Clip in regards to their Cree camp preview

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you haven't checked those out go ahead check those out and also read shepherd

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Video there is doing very well in regards to what we think read shepherd can be

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: To the Houston Rockets this year so with all that being said the last thing that we got to get into is this

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Be a friend tell a friend the podcast we are at the end of the month. We've already

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Broke in our record four months in a row

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Congratulations to everybody who?

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Listen to the podcast who gets down with the podcast we are appreciative of you

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Now we need to continue this momentum continue to tell people about our podcast

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Continue to tell your friends. Hey. Hey, are you getting it? Are you he's going through a list of

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 players that are 25 and under are you getting this so make sure that people are getting the podcast

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: They're following us and then also downloading the content that would be

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciated so we've gotten all the business out the way

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_00]: So we can get to the pot

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: there is one other little piece of business that I want to get to and

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: It kind of culminates around something that we talked about a little bit earlier

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: the

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: producers are doing a

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of a blog for

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The show it starts soon

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: But what we've decided is that what we're gonna do is we're going to roll out the website

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: with the ending of the

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: top 25

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 and under NBA players, and then we'll have our list up there and

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: like some of the notes and stuff like that that we did throughout the podcast and whatever and

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Then we're gonna leave it as an active

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_00]: living document and

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_00]: then what we're gonna do is just take out players or move them around and

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_00]: What the producers and I have come up with that?

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: We're what we're gonna try to attempt to do is in December. We'll go ahead and

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Revisit the list make some changes if there's some changes also we will now because the list is up

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: your commentary will also be heard as well and

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully we can get more people involved when we go to

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Do this list again in December so big things coming

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be the corner three. It'll be the top 25

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 and under list that'll hit the website and we'll just throw it all at you all in one day

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Once we're done with the list

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully everybody's on board with that and now we can get to our podcast

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_00]: The first person on this list that we're gonna talk about is

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Somebody that is really close to my heart and that is Jaime Hockett jr. He plays for the Miami Heat

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: He was a rookie last year. He was drafted 18th overall by the Miami Heat now. I will say this again

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_00]: The Lakers drafted 17th and you know what they're looking for

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_00]: They're looking for a wing who can be offensive will also be a rugged

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Defender and rebounder somebody who can provide some defensive state stability

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Who does that sound like?

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it does sound like Jaime Hockett jr. So you can imagine my frustration when I see this guy flourishing

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: which I knew he was going to

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Seeing him at UCLA all those years and now he's doing it for the Miami Heat

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't be happier for him because I am a UCLA stand

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Hockett was known for his competitive spirit and his ability to contribute in multiple multiple facets of the game

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Now this is a great. This is a great thing about

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Homme Hockett jr. He is a guy that can fill up the stat sheet in a certain way

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he can score points and rebounds and assists and things of that nature

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_00]: But he's known to get a steal or two. He's known to get a block. He gets a lot of deflections

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: he comes from the mick cronin school of

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Playing defense so there's gonna be fundamentals

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: There's gonna be grit and there's gonna be a lot of effort and the one thing that you can always count on with

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Jaime Hockett jr. Just because of how he was drilled at UCLA is the

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Effort on the defensive end which then also complements the style that the Miami Heat play

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: His pre-drill scouting report scouts love his versatility with one NBA executive noting

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_00]: He's a guy who can do a little bit of everything defend rebound shoot make plays for others

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: So basically this is kind of what we were talking about earlier

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_00]: The one thing about Jaime Hockett jr. And I think this is a real big key and

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of the scouting that goes on

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't super impressive with one thing

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_00]: What everything was at a certain level where you can feel confident?

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_00]: That he would be able to handle that moment, you know, whatever that microscopic area that we're talking about

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Whether it was dribbling containing his dribble making the right pass

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Getting it to the open man being a physical rebounding being physical

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_00]: with his

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Defensive assignment where so then he's wearing him down a little bit

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of things that he does that do not show up on the stat sheet

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_00]: That a lot of executives and scouts really appreciate and this is what the executive was

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Spotlighting when he was talking about that a quote from our guys that low

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: From ESPN recently commented how kids like has his IQ on both ends of the court is off the charts for a rookie

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Miami got an absolute steal. So there's a Zach Lowe, you know how much we love

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Zach Lowe now

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_00]: going into

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_00]: This year. What do we expect?

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Honey hot cases role to be well it all depends on what you think

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: the actual landscape of what that team is gonna look like

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_00]: because if you are under the impression that

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: KL where is going to start at 19 years of age and then bunk BAM down to the smoke to the powerful work

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: or the big wing however, you want to call them and

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Then move Jimmy down to the small or the smaller wing and

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you have he wrote in Rozier

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_00]: You could do that. I

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Think that honey hockey has shown enough and he's shown enough

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_00]: continuity with those

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Core roster pieces that the heat have had and also he has the trust of Spoh and

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That is a hard thing to get

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So our guy I think personally deserves maybe a

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Look-see as a starter, but we know that he's gonna play a pivot a role off the bench

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: No matter what I do believe that Jaime high cast jr

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Will be a 22 minute a game guy. No matter what that is basement

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Level for Jaime high cast jr this year now as far as the stats and what have you

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that he'll have an increase because of the fact that he would have played in the NBA for a full season now

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_00]: He will now have been able to go through a complete offseason

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Know what his regimen is also

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_00]: He will have had the exit interview with spell and spell will have said

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_00]: These are the things that Riles and I have thought that you need to work on

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: To complement what we are going to be doing here next year. So I expect

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Another leap for Jaime high cast jr. Now usually we talk about players that are 22 years of age and

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: They're ceiling on their development. I

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't think that's quite true with Jaime high cast jr

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not ever telling you that he's going to be some sort of all-star

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Perenially, I don't think any of that but I do think that he can be a significant piece in your starting rotation

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: If you are a serious

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Playoff contender somebody who is vying for a NBA championship. I do believe that personally

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_00]: That's our guy. Jaime high cast jr

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Now before we get to our guy at 18, so Jaime is at 19 and also

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: If you haven't been with us the whole time

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_00]: We started this journey with honorable mentions. We went through

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 to 23 and then 22 to 20 and

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Today we're doing two because we have a lot to get to

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: What if you have not heard the previous podcast and you have not heard the the rest of the top 20 by

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Please go back and get into the archive pods and listen to those and download them. All right get into that

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_00]: all right with that being said let's go ahead and

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's get into one other guy that was omitted from the list and

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: The reason why I'm bringing him up at this point in time is

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_00]: because of the fact that I think that he deserves mention and I

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_00]: fought for him to be on this list and

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_00]: That's Devon with cell now Devon Vassal didn't make our list

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I pounded the table for him to be in the spot that Jaime high cast jr

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: To know avail and we live in a democratic society at front-runner podcast collective

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It is a collective. So therefore I must go with the collective

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_00]: With that being said we are going to turn our attention to Devon Vassal because I do believe that he does

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Deserve some mentioning so he's not exactly on the list. So I'm gonna call him a high honorable mention

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: So Devon Vassal career overview he is six foot five. He's a guard forward hybrid

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_00]: He was drafted 11th overall in that weird

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_00]: 2020 draft

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, that was the draft where you know, the draft picks did not get

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Scouting like hands-on scouting

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Really being in the same room with the guy type of situation and Devon Vassal came out of Florida State

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And he was known for his defensive prowess and his shooting ability now his career

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_00]: progression so far over the last four seasons Vassal steadily has improved culminating in his breakout year last season

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Where he averaged?

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_00]: 19.5 points a game. He shot 47.2% from the field with Victor Wimbayama

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Now also remember that Devon Vassal last year was playing with

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Who is now going to be the guy in San Antonio in Victor Wimbayama

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And I would not be surprised if Victor ends up on this list way down the road

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Now the other thing is is that we had the issue where there was no point guard

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_00]: with the San Antonio Spurs or Popovich decided to

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Experiment with his lineup early last year and he had Jeremy Sohan being the point guard now

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that Vassal is some sort of wizard

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_00]: offensive creator

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_00]: but he did help take over that role in the second half and we saw that Victor Wimbayama's numbers go up a little bit and

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_00]: also, they had Trey Jones over there and

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_00]: it seemed to kind of stabilize the lineup and

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Allow Vassal to do the things that he can do

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_00]: The problem is is that we still don't know if Devon Vassal is a winning player

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Now he seems to be part of the Spurs future

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So if Pop sees some momentum, you know, I'm gonna go with that because Pop is a winner

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_00]: But those are the things that so far we've seen the defense sometimes

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I think personally could be a lot better

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I wonder if it has if the losing has waned on him a little bit and

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if if for some reason there is a

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Godfather deal on the table come February

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Does San Antonio look at that and say hey

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's give Devon a chance to reinvigorate his career. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with his career now

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying there's a juice. There's a juice

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_00]: pump up

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_00]: when

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_00]: You're in a spot to win take for instance PJ Washington last year. He went from Charlotte

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_00]: to the Dallas Mavericks and

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_00]: We saw just a completely different cat

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: You know saying so it's just one of those things that you have to Daniel Gafford is same way

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_00]: He went from the Washington Wizards to Dallas Mavericks and we saw a different player

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_00]: energy level effort level

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Everything up up up and I wonder if the sale would be the same thing

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is kind of scary because we just talked about his numbers

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Now let's talk about his role and his impact on the Spurs in his role with the Spurs

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Vassal has become a key piece alongside Victor Wimbayama

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_00]: His ability to stretch the floor defend multiple positions and create his own shot has made him

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Indispensable. Yes, it is because he was the only other person on that team that could get a bucket pretty reliably

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Last year, it was a awful season for the San Antonio Spurs

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_00]: But we knew that going in because of the fact that we are starting from ground zero and we're building up and we built

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the foundation

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_00]: around Victor Wimbayama. Here's an advanced ad on

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Devin Vassal. Vassal's true shooting percentage is 55% and his defensive box plus minus is a

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: positive point zero

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry a

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Positive 0.9 highlight his efficiency and his impact on both sides of the ball

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_00]: is actually pretty impressive to have a

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_00]: positive

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Defensive box plus minus when you play for a team that won less than 20 games

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_00]: This is from Greg Popovich Devin has turned himself into a confident scorer. He can shoot it. He can drive it

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_00]: He's upped his defensive understanding that no defense no wins

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And Logan Murdoch chomped in with this. Vassal is quietly becoming one of the better young wings in the NBA

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: His development alongside Victor Wimbayama is key for the Spurs future

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So we wanted to get that in we wanted to make sure that we highlighted Devin Vassal

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_00]: even though he didn't make our list and

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I just wanted to make sure he got some love. So there it is. All right, so our next guy

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_00]: on our actual list is

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Somebody I know

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Long-time listeners day one listeners will will be excited about this because we are about to invoke the name and

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not Joe Hendry. No, it's not Joe Hendry

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, it's not him. But Nico Miatella

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_00]: We will invoke that name and the reason why we invoke that name is because there is a Houston rocket on this list

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And the person that we're gonna talk about net right now is Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets. So

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Green a high flying guard

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He was part of that G League situation. He came in the 2021 draft

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_00]: He was known for his athleticism his scoring ability and he had the potential to be just a breakout star

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's some of the pre draft scouting reports on our guy Jalen Green

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Scouts were enamored with the physical tools, but some question his feel for the game

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_00]: He's got tools to be a star but questioned how quickly he can develop the mental aspect

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Said one NBA scout

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I want to go down to what Jay Kyle man or the ringer said

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Green has all the potential in the world

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: But he needs to refine his shot selection and become more efficient to reach the next level

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about a little bit. All right, so 17 points a game

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_00]: 4.6 rebounds a game 3.1 assists per game

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_00]: His shooting efficiency has been the concern when he shot 40% from the field

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_00]: The shot selection is not great. It's just not great still now it got better in the second half

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_00]: We saw we saw a revival of our guy Jalen Green which people say well once

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Apprentice in doing left and Jalen Green was able to attack the paint like he wanted to

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_00]: He was able to do this and does this call for a a five out style instead of using

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Apprentice in goon at that nail position which really brought along a lot of

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Efficient offense for the Houston Rockets. So till two tails, you know saying like it's really one of those situations where

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: You know which one is

[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_00]: the

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Correct course to go in the future. Is it the wing the dynamic athlete in Jalen Green?

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Or is it out grand Shangoon who can just get you into good sets and get you into

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Really positive shooting situations

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Now if you're talking about winning time you're talking about the playoffs

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: The game slows down that a half court game something that we are

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Mostly you're gonna see in a playoff series

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So then that would put the edge towards Shangoon, but it all depends on how you feel about

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Green's upside. So let's talk about it a little bit. I

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Personally was high on Jalen Green when he came out not as high as Nico. I think when

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Jabari Smith Jr. Came aboard

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that Jabari Smith Jr. Should get the bulk of the shots just because we're talking about 6'10 6'11

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_00]: He can shoot the J

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That hasn't materialized because

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Green for the first couple years. Let's just call it what it was. He got to do

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Pretty much whatever he wanted to do and then E-Made

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Eudoca came in and when E-Made came in that all changed

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_00]: With that changing it puts you in a situation where okay now I'm in a structured offense

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_00]: They are going to try to maximize possessions. That means that I can't be over here

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Turning the ball over reckless recklessly and driving into into the lane without a plan

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_00]: So you saw some development there last year now, it's the shot selection that will be the most important thing and

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's the thing when you have somebody ultra talented like this

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Weaning them just kind of reigning them in is one of the harder things to do

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_00]: especially

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_00]: after two years of non-structure and now we're asking him to just be

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Perfect in structure hard to do

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_00]: so I give my man a break, but

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Houston is starting to get impatient

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Looks like they're trying to win. What does that look like?

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Does he fit into those future plans?

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_00]: These are all questions that are going to be answered hopefully this year and really it comes down to Jalen Green

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you gonna lock in on defense a little bit?

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_00]: more because of your

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_00]: athleticism your long arms and just your ability to be able to mirror the

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Offensive player just because your superior

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Athleticism and then can you take?

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Because you're giving so much of that that type of energy on the defensive end does that slow you down enough on offense?

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_00]: To now that you can see the game in a way where you're not just going

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_00]: barreling into the lane recklessly and just turn the ball over if those things

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Those two things happen

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_00]: It's the Jalen Green that Nico Miatello

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Envision all along if those things continue to

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Be his Achilles heel

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: He's probably gone

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_00]: so we'll see how it all works for Jalen Green, but

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Those are our guys so 18 is Jalen Green and 19

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: We was hiding the Hockett's jr. With a high honorable mention to our guy

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Devin Vasel I want to get to that. I'm glad we did

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Very important that we make sure that we get to all these type of things

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_00]: So we're there now

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_00]: We talked to you about

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_00]: doing these preseason or pre camp previews and

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go ahead and continue that series today, and we're going to continue it with the Denver Nuggets now

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_00]: The Denver Nuggets last year coming off a championship

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Everything is good. We get into the year and let's talk about a little bit they get through the first round

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Beating the hell out of Lakers and

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Then they faced the Minnesota Timberwolves and they run into a buzzsaw as far as just the defensive prowess

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And they seem to be just overwhelmed by their athleticism

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So Calvin Poole, okay took a lot of criticism last year in regards to

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Allowing Bruce Brown jr. To walk away this offseason he allows

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Katavius Caldwell Pope to walk away as well

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It just seems like and this is a key piece to the team

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_00]: This is their defensive stopper and he is now gone

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Now we're going to get into his replacement who's possibly going to be the next man up there in one second, but

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Calvin Poole did say

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Last year on many occasions he said we have to rely on the young guys this

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Apron thing is coming. We got some expensive guys already. How do we keep costs down?

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_00]: What have you now? He didn't say all that out loud, but you can look at some of the actions and see

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_00]: That they're they're kind of

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Two offseason in a row Bruce Brown jr. Last offseason

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_00]: He goes to Indiana and then ends up in Toronto and then this offseason

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Where our guy can take his Caldwell Pope is now safely insecure on the Orlando Magic

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_00]: What does this mean for the Nuggets?

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_00]: The Nuggets had a an active offseason active offseason following their disappointing finish last season with the departure of

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Contabative Caldwell Pope and their

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_00]: retooling of their bench

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Denver's depth is a concern

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Losing Contabative Caldwell Pope is a bigger blow than many realize this team has

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Still has a lot of talent to compete at a high level. What the question is can the new guys step up?

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so this is that glow saying that

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Zach Harper of the Athletic

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_00]: This is what he had to say the Nuggets front office has done a decent job in the offseason

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_00]: But the real test will be how quickly the new players can adapt to Michael Malone system

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_00]: If they can't it could be a tough road and then here's what anonymous

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_00]: NBA executive said said that Denver's core is still one of the best in the league

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_00]: But they're walking a fine line the margin of error is smaller this year than ever and they can't afford

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_00]: To have any other top guys go down

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Which then leads us into the biggest question of them all and let's talk about it right now

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna talk about Jamal Murray and we're gonna talk about

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_00]: The situation in the Olympics and then also his

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_00]: prerequisite

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Second round playoff performance as well

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So Jamal Murray obviously is the second best player on the Denver Nuggets at this particular time

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Nikola Jokic is the stir is the straw that stirs the drink. We all know that

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Jamal Murray's

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_00]: impact his productivity his energy and

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Just his his way of being is so vital to what the Denver Nuggets do

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Day in day out that it was really concerning

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Seeing what happened in the playoffs and then we get to the Olympics and we're like, okay

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_00]: He's tired. Maybe you know, they had a long run last year whatever now Jamal Murray has had a

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_00]: history of knee injuries and

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_00]: a history of hamstrings and a history of

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Knee has been a bulky situation for a while

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_00]: He also had the actual knee surgery which really stymied the Denver

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_00]: resurgence

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Couple years prior to them winning the championship Jamal Murray's underwhelming performance in the Olympics and raised

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Eyebrows after a long postseason there were hopes that he could carry the momentum into the international play

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_00]: But fatigue seemed to be a major factor. Here's an NBA is an NBA scout

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Murray did not look like himself during the Olympics. He shot his shot

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Wasn't falling and he appeared to be a step slow Denver needs him at his peak form

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Especially early in the season as a new roster pieces settle in

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_00]: This is from an anonymous NBA coach

[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_00]: The concern is that Murray's offseason workload might impact regular season

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_00]: He did himself a disservice by playing internationally

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_00]: During the offseason and not rehabbing that knee completely

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_00]: The Nuggets need to manage his minutes carefully to avoid lingering effects

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And here is what Zach Lowe said

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_00]: If Murray struggles out of the gate it could put a lot of pressure on Yolkic to carry the team early

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_00]: This is a situation that bears watching closely who could possibly help in this situation

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_00]: We did talk about them losing

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Contribute Caldwell Pope to the Orlando Magic now

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_00]: The guy who has for the last couple years been like the heir apparent and next in line for whatever

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Rotation piece opened up in the starting rotation was Christian Brown

[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_00]: came into

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The Denver Nuggets as a rookie out of Kansas

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Exploded onto the scene has some flashes of brilliance

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Showed some grit on defense showed that he can move his feet and people were a little excited last year

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like a step back. He did seem as

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Trust trusted by Michael Malone. So we'll see how it all plays out this year now

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_00]: This is the overview and expectations of Brown this year

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_00]: It is expected that he would take on a much larger role this season

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Especially with the loss of defensive stalwart contiguous Caldwell Pope

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Brown's ability to play multiple position in his shooting will be critical to Denver's success now

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_00]: His shooting tailed off last year. Can he get it back? Is that is what we saw last year kind of?

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_00]: What his new water?

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Mark level is in the NBA or are there some adjustments that he can make to get a shot off quicker

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Or to create more space to allow him to be more of a

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_00]: impactful contributor to the offense now

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Our guys at Harper chimed in with this bra Christian Brown is a prime

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_00]: But is in prime position to make a significant leap this season the Nuggets need him to be more

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Just a role player they need him to be a game changer. It's

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Hell, yeah

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't have KCP, you definitely somebody step up and guard somebody Brown's development is one of the most important storylines for Denver

[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_00]: This is from an anonymous executive if he can become a reliable two-way player. It changes the ceiling for this team and

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Then here is Michael Malone's quotes on Christian Brown

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Christian has the potential to be one of the most important players on our team this season

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_00]: His work ethic is unmatched and and we're going to rely on him heavily, especially on the defensive end

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_00]: So what are some of the questions going into early in the season for the Denver Nuggets?

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Right and we don't get to that but I want to talk about Christian Brown a little bit now

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I also want to talk about some of their other guys too

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Because

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Calvin Boo decided last couple years Bruce Brown out KCP out

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_00]: last year

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Julian Strother

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Pick it

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Hunter Tyson. These are all picks that they drafted last year now early on in season. There were some

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Look like some kind of additive impactful

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Type of young dudes to

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Build this new generation of Denver Nuggets, right? Like these guys can come in under the radar

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't expect a lot from you because we have these players

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_00]: But you can get your feet wet understand the system. And now what does it look like this year?

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna tell you right now

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I know the Cronkies are the owners of the Denver Nuggets as well as with the Avalanche

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And the Rams and what happened. Here's the situation

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_00]: There's no doubt that

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: These were some cost-cutting moves last couple years and yes

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Calvin Boo did say that we are going to rely on our

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_00]: scouting in our drafting to fill these holes that we're gonna have because

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_00]: The most important part is to keep the core of the roster and that is Yoke H. Murray

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Gordon and Michael Porter jr. We all know that now so what is around them and

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_00]: This is where the young guys come in

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Hunter Tyson has to be nice

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Julian Strother who shot the ball well early last season and then not so much late last season

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He's gonna have to really step up his game along with Christian Brown and

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Also pick it the guard they got out of Pittsburgh last year they raised the bottom

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_00]: During the drought process really didn't get to see a lot of them and now there's no

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_00]: There's no Reggie Jackson. There's and also here's the other thing

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And we're gonna get into it in one second, but the emergence of one

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Russell Westbrook is Russell Westbrook

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Now a starter is he going to come off the bench is

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Christian Brown the starter and Russ is his sixth man

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_00]: These are questions that we need to ask

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_00]: These are questions that need to be answered

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_00]: The only way to get these answers is to get to the preseason

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_00]: So we're not there yet, but these are the questions that we're just asking

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's some of the burning questions that I want to ask

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Can Murray Jamal Murray bounce back from his disappointing summer?

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Now Murray struggles

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_00]: During the Olympics have raised concerns while his conditioning overall readiness for the upcoming NBA season

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_00]: The Nuggets need him at his best especially in a Western Conference that is as competitive and as

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Going to be as a motor role as possible

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_00]: going into the 24 25 season

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm. Oh check this out

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, sir. A for this last-minute quote if Murray isn't firing on all cylinders

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Denver could find itself in a hole early on

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Said one NBA scout his performance will be a barometer for the team's success

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_00]: All right

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The second burning question that I have is

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Will Christian Brown step up to fill the void that was left by contend you call well quote

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_00]: with KCP's departure Brown is

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: expected to take on a

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_00]: More significant role particularly on the defensive end his ability to guard multiple positions and contribute

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_00]: offensively will be crucial quote

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Bronze growth is vital to the to the Denver's defense

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_00]: He they need him to be that versatile defender who can guard the opponent's best wing

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_00]: comment it an NBA

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_00]: executive I

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Mean basically, that's what it's gonna come down to or is Russell

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Westbrook gonna come in and do that now the problem is if his shooting going to be

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Problematic with the rest of squat because Aaron Gordon doesn't shoot the three very well

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Yokich took a step back from shooting the three very well last year

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_00]: So really you got Michael Porter jr. And a hobbled

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Jamal Murray if Christian Brown is now go shoot the three or Russell Westbrook

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Where's the spacing?

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Now yokage is such a great passer. It doesn't really matter

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_00]: But it does make a little bit harder

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And we're trying to make it as easy as possible

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_00]: for our Serbian giant who showed a little bit of a little bit of personality during the

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Olympics and also during this last season with the couple commercials the little the hotel joint so real excited about that situation

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_00]: But I'm gonna tell you right now Denver is up against it. I

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Mean Brown has to shoot it

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Strother has to shoot it picket has to shoot it

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: It's what it's gonna have to come down to and then here's the third question

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_00]: How will the new additions fit into Michael Malone system?

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, the Nuggets have made several roster changes in the offseason

[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Integrating these new pieces will be heat these they're not a lot of new pieces. They're just young pieces somebody. Yeah

[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_00]: The success of the team could hinge on how quickly these players adapt and contribute

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_00]: The early part of the season will be about finding out the right combinations

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Malone has his work cut out for him says Zach low. Yeah, because you're

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't like playing young players. He's just like Tim's in that respect. Okay, so Strother

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Hunter Tyson pick it our guy Christian Brown Zeke Naji. We're Zeke Naji yet

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_00]: You know saying like our guy

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_00]: The Andre Jordan is getting real minutes Zeke Naji can't get off the can't get off the bench

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You know saying there's got to be some development

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_00]: There's got to be some some leaps taken by these young guys if Denver is going to

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Continue to be one of those real high-level playoff teams. Okay, so the last thing that I want to say about

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_00]: The Denver Nuggets is this is that they have over under a 54 wins and really I'm gonna tell you that's gonna be hard to get to

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Not because Denver is not good enough. I need

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_00]: questions answered how healthy is Jamal Murray

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_00]: How healthy is he

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_00]: If he's not healthy is there is there another level to Michael Porter jr. I need to know

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_00]: We talked about the young kids they must step up

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_00]: They have no other choice at this point

[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_00]: KCP is gone. Bruce Brown has been gone now. This is gonna be the second year Aaron Gordon

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Michael Porter jr

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever you can get out of Jamal Murray if healthy great if you get healthy Jamal Murray

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_00]: This is a lot of questions are answered with a healthy Jamal Murray

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_00]: But if he's not healthy and

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_00]: We always have seen him kind of work himself in the shape and then around January

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_00]: We start to see the real Jamal Murray

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_00]: We can't afford to do that this year Denver

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Nuggets fans hit me up at front runner

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_00]: PC or hit my producers up at Raya underscore

[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_00]: punch

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_00]: FRPC to let us know what you think of our Denver Nuggets

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Pre-camp preview. All right with that being said

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_00]: We are pretty much out of here. So we'll continue our series on the top 25

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 and under on Friday for sure, you know that we're gonna keep you locked in

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: that we will preview and go and answer try to see if we get some questions answered or

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Ask some more questions about a particular NBA franchise coming up on Friday

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Before we leave I do want to look because there was one

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Proposed I don't know if you want to call it fake trade or whatever the case may be

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_00]: It was interesting. Let me pull it up here

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And as I am pulling it up, I want to also again

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you guys for an incredible month that we had in August blowing out our record and things of that nature

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And I cannot

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Mention enough. Thank you. Somebody was proposing

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_00]: some Brandon Ingram trade and

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_00]: They were talking about Brandon Ingram going to Utah and I was like well, mmm

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_00]: The one thing that we will always tell you being lived in Boston for 15 years

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Being somebody who had to get sound and whatever from my previous life

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Danny is the type of person that will

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_00]: He will zag when everybody else is digging

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So if for some reason Brandon Ingram is at the price point that he feels is just such a steal

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_00]: we might be in business and

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_00]: then this might solve the

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_00]: big problem for the

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_00]: New Orleans Pelicans, so we got to keep our eyes out on that as far as that's concerned and I

[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Do believe that as we get closer and closer to camp?

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_00]: There will be some people who will say hey, wait a minute. We're going into the year

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_00]: this is what we're gonna look like for sure and then that's when it happens and

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm not gonna do the stuff

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_00]: curry

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_00]: blockbuster trade to Los Angeles because our

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Laker fans are delusional already and we don't need to give them any more false. Hope
