[00:00:17] It's Wednesday and also Happy Frickin New Year! And it is time for one of the best pods of the year. I'm so excited we did this last year. So basically this is our second annual version of this. So we're doing our three wishes that we give to the NBA. So buckle up, it's gonna be an incredible ride.

[00:00:41] I want to thank Soraya for all the hard work she did helping me put this together. Thank you Soraya. And let's get to the socials and then get into this pod. Because we have great ideas for the NBA.

[00:00:59] So first and foremost, the socials x at Front Runner PC also at Raya underscore funch FRPC. You also want to go to Blue Sky at Front Runner PC dot B sky dot social. And then also it is producer dot Soraya FRPC.

[00:01:32] So make sure you are getting in touch with us on the socials, especially after you hear this podcast because you might have ideas that you want to float or you want to piggyback off the ideas that we are about to share and see how we can make them even cooler.

[00:01:55] I don't know. I don't know. But I want the content. I want the responses. I want the vitriol or just the joy of some of these ideas taking shape and seeing if we can help our beloved game.

[00:02:11] Because let's be honest, that bullshit that the NFL did.

[00:02:17] On Christmas Day, that was an abomination. They shouldn't have done that.

[00:02:22] And NFL trying to take over the world. I get it. It's all part of the Illuminati and everything.

[00:02:30] I get all that. But at the end of the day.

[00:02:36] At the end of the day.

[00:02:39] Our beloved NBA.

[00:02:42] We take center stage on Christmas Day.

[00:02:47] And we need to do everything we can to help the game of basketball continue to flourish and shine.

[00:02:54] That's our hope for today and everything like that.

[00:02:57] Now, also.

[00:02:59] If you listen to us on the podcast, if you're a first time listener, make sure that you're following us.

[00:03:05] Make sure after you hear the pod, you drop that five star review.

[00:03:12] Also, leave a comment.

[00:03:13] Say, hey, great pod or hey, I really enjoyed that segment or I disagree with something in the segment.

[00:03:21] We'll get back to you.

[00:03:22] But that's how it works.

[00:03:24] It's all about give and take.

[00:03:27] And now, also, be a friend and tell a friend about the podcast.

[00:03:32] If you're listening to us, that means that you're locked in.

[00:03:36] You know what the pod is all about.

[00:03:38] We come to you three times a week.

[00:03:41] And we give you all the things that you need to know about the NBA.

[00:03:45] Plus draft, plus front office.

[00:03:47] And also, we stay up to date on all the trade rumors and what have you.

[00:03:53] So we just dropped a pod on Monday in regards to the Dorian Finney Smith trade to the Lakers.

[00:04:00] What Brooklyn got, how it all worked out, how it works for the Lakers and why this was so important that.

[00:04:09] D'Angelo Russell had to leave the Lakers.

[00:04:14] And it's not as salacious as you might think, but there's some tactical reasons for that.

[00:04:20] So give that pod a listen.

[00:04:23] We just dropped it on Monday.

[00:04:25] It's a good pod.

[00:04:26] Or tell a friend who loves basketball.

[00:04:31] Say, hey, you a Laker fan?

[00:04:33] All right, cool.

[00:04:35] Vince dropped some real cool knowledge about the Dorian Finney Smith trade.

[00:04:40] Make sure you get everybody locked in because this.

[00:04:45] This snowball is going downhill.

[00:04:48] And you want to be a part of it.

[00:04:50] So keep it locked here with Front Runner Podcast Collective.

[00:04:55] Now, we are about to jump in to our Three Wishes Podcast.

[00:05:01] And again, we take time, a lot of effort.

[00:05:05] There's some thought that goes into this.

[00:05:07] We're not just, oh, what?

[00:05:10] Oh, what's this?

[00:05:11] No, we want to make sure these are good things and ideas for the great game we call basketball.

[00:05:19] Without further ado, let's start with making,

[00:05:25] the first half of the season count more.

[00:05:29] And what I mean by this is that the NBA has tried to use the NBA Cup

[00:05:36] to create more fan interest.

[00:05:39] It also wanted to create something that would get the competitive juices for these franchises early,

[00:05:49] going on early.

[00:05:50] So this is something that the NBA has tried to do to make sure,

[00:05:56] because we hear a lot of times now that the postseason is what counts.

[00:06:01] Oh, I've been to the postseason now and I can't wait to get back there.

[00:06:06] These games are monotonous and whatever.

[00:06:09] You have to put some skin in the game for these franchises and for these players.

[00:06:16] They have to be playing for something.

[00:06:18] Now, money is always good.

[00:06:21] Money is fantastic.

[00:06:23] You know what also is good?

[00:06:26] Getting an upper hand on 29 other franchises, I'm sure when you get to the owner level,

[00:06:34] you got some jealousies in there with certain ownership groups and things of that nature.

[00:06:40] But if you were going after something that could give you a competitive advantage

[00:06:49] going into the rest of the season, now would that kind of spark your interest?

[00:06:55] I thought so.

[00:06:57] How this works is I'm taking on the idea of the NBA Cup.

[00:07:04] Now, we have tried to make the All-Star Game count.

[00:07:11] We have tried to make it competitive.

[00:07:14] We've tried to do a lot of things to it.

[00:07:16] Now, I'm not saying that we do not have All-Star Weekend.

[00:07:20] I think what we do is we take this up a notch.

[00:07:25] I think that the Cup should basically replace the All-Star Game.

[00:07:31] Now, you still have your All-Stars.

[00:07:33] You still have your three-point competition.

[00:07:36] You still have your slam dunk, your skills.

[00:07:40] Maybe you could add something else in there, you know, where you get more WNBA participation.

[00:07:49] I love that stuff.

[00:07:51] And who was it?

[00:07:53] Was it Inescu went toe-to-toe for the three-point championship?

[00:07:58] Who's going to wear the crown?

[00:08:00] More stuff like that.

[00:08:02] You can still do all of the side event type things.

[00:08:08] Now, the NBA Cup now makes the games more competitive.

[00:08:13] You get to see some of the stars.

[00:08:16] You can get to see more stars.

[00:08:19] And also, here's the thing.

[00:08:22] If they're not going to take the game seriously, just like in the NFL, it's not even a game anymore.

[00:08:28] They say, hey, you're a pro bowler.

[00:08:31] Okay, you've made the pro bowl team.

[00:08:33] You go do these events and blah, blah, blah, and whatever.

[00:08:36] They can still go to Vegas or wherever it's going to be held every year.

[00:08:44] You can move it around.

[00:08:45] But the NBA Cup is the thing that circles everything.

[00:08:50] You're saying, Vince, they do this in December.

[00:08:56] The All-Star game is in February.

[00:08:58] How is this going to work?

[00:09:00] Here you go.

[00:09:01] So, the first half of the NBA season can feel like a warm-up with teams pacing themselves with some of the games lacking intensity.

[00:09:10] Here's a fix to that problem.

[00:09:13] We expand the NBA Cup into 41-game format where every game matters.

[00:09:20] So, I split the season in half.

[00:09:23] So, 41 games.

[00:09:25] Not all games count towards the Cup.

[00:09:29] Okay.

[00:09:30] We still have the pool setup.

[00:09:34] Keep in mind, 41 games.

[00:09:40] Pool setup is still what it is.

[00:09:43] There's a little tweak to it and we'll get to it in a second.

[00:09:47] And here's how it works.

[00:09:49] Instead of a quick four-game tournament,

[00:09:52] the NBA Cup will expand to 41 games of the season.

[00:10:00] Now, you would have your pool setting.

[00:10:03] So, just like this year.

[00:10:05] You had, what, five teams.

[00:10:07] You played four games.

[00:10:09] Instead of playing four games,

[00:10:12] you play those two,

[00:10:13] you play those teams two times.

[00:10:16] Now, you can spread them out throughout the year.

[00:10:19] Now, you don't have to concentrate them into one area.

[00:10:22] You can spread them out a little bit.

[00:10:25] Instead of having two per week,

[00:10:28] you can make one night,

[00:10:31] one night,

[00:10:32] maybe every two weeks.

[00:10:34] We're trying to get from

[00:10:36] November

[00:10:37] to February.

[00:10:39] So,

[00:10:40] if you're playing eight games

[00:10:43] and you wanted to start the Cup

[00:10:45] in

[00:10:46] December.

[00:10:49] First Thursday

[00:10:51] of December,

[00:10:53] boom,

[00:10:54] there's your Cup game.

[00:10:56] Everybody plays in it.

[00:10:58] Whatever.

[00:11:00] Now,

[00:11:00] you're wondering,

[00:11:02] why 41 games

[00:11:03] if only eight of these games are Cup?

[00:11:06] Trust me.

[00:11:07] I have something for this.

[00:11:08] But,

[00:11:09] you spread it out

[00:11:11] over two weeks.

[00:11:12] Every two weeks,

[00:11:13] right?

[00:11:13] You have your Cup night.

[00:11:16] That gets you to February.

[00:11:18] What's in February?

[00:11:20] The All-Star game.

[00:11:22] Now,

[00:11:23] you don't have to have the All-Star game.

[00:11:24] You can have these four teams

[00:11:26] go to whatever designated city

[00:11:29] the All-Star game is going to be in.

[00:11:32] You still vote for your All-Stars.

[00:11:34] All-Stars will go to

[00:11:37] the city

[00:11:39] that is designated

[00:11:40] for the All-Star game.

[00:11:42] They will participate

[00:11:43] in NBA's events

[00:11:46] throughout

[00:11:46] those four or five days.

[00:11:48] So,

[00:11:48] the parties

[00:11:49] and

[00:11:50] all those things

[00:11:51] that they're supposed to do.

[00:11:53] Maybe there's an All-Star dinner

[00:11:55] or All-Star roast,

[00:11:57] which,

[00:11:58] keep in mind,

[00:11:59] there's going to be something

[00:12:00] later in this pod

[00:12:01] about

[00:12:03] sprucing up the league as well.

[00:12:04] You can

[00:12:06] have

[00:12:07] comedians and whatever

[00:12:08] come in.

[00:12:09] You can put it on Netflix.

[00:12:11] Also,

[00:12:11] now you don't have to worry about

[00:12:12] adult ratings

[00:12:13] and things of that nature.

[00:12:16] And,

[00:12:16] you know,

[00:12:16] it's a good time

[00:12:17] have by all.

[00:12:18] Now,

[00:12:19] those people will be

[00:12:20] introduced

[00:12:20] throughout the

[00:12:22] slam dunk competition

[00:12:24] through

[00:12:25] the three-point competition.

[00:12:26] Some will participate

[00:12:28] in these events.

[00:12:30] You can add more events

[00:12:31] to this situation

[00:12:33] to

[00:12:35] you could do

[00:12:37] the fastest man

[00:12:38] who jumps the highest.

[00:12:40] I don't know.

[00:12:41] But you can add things

[00:12:43] to

[00:12:43] the All-Star

[00:12:44] weekend.

[00:12:45] Now,

[00:12:46] the crown jewel

[00:12:48] of this All-Star weekend

[00:12:49] now

[00:12:50] is this

[00:12:51] basically

[00:12:52] three-game tournament.

[00:12:53] So you still have

[00:12:54] the

[00:12:54] the semifinals

[00:12:56] between the two teams

[00:12:58] in the West

[00:12:58] and the two

[00:13:00] teams in the East

[00:13:01] and then

[00:13:02] they play

[00:13:04] Sunday

[00:13:04] and there's

[00:13:06] your All-Star game.

[00:13:08] Now,

[00:13:09] you say

[00:13:09] the 41 games,

[00:13:10] how does that

[00:13:11] play into

[00:13:12] how this works?

[00:13:13] Okay.

[00:13:14] Again,

[00:13:15] let's go back

[00:13:15] to the cup game.

[00:13:16] So the pool games

[00:13:17] work this way.

[00:13:19] You would have

[00:13:20] eight.

[00:13:21] If you won

[00:13:22] your game,

[00:13:23] you got two points

[00:13:24] so you would get

[00:13:25] your victory.

[00:13:26] So whatever

[00:13:27] your record is.

[00:13:28] So let's take

[00:13:28] the Lakers right now.

[00:13:29] They're 18 and 31.

[00:13:31] I'm sorry,

[00:13:32] they're 18 and 13.

[00:13:34] So they played

[00:13:34] 31 games.

[00:13:35] They're 18 and 13

[00:13:37] at this point.

[00:13:37] Let's just say

[00:13:39] for argument's sake,

[00:13:42] they played

[00:13:42] four cup games.

[00:13:44] They're 3-1

[00:13:45] in those cup games.

[00:13:47] They would have

[00:13:48] six points.

[00:13:50] Now,

[00:13:51] here's a little

[00:13:51] twist.

[00:13:54] If you win

[00:13:55] your

[00:13:56] cup game

[00:13:58] and pool

[00:13:59] setting

[00:13:59] by more than

[00:14:01] double digits,

[00:14:02] you get an

[00:14:03] extra point

[00:14:04] for domination.

[00:14:06] Okay?

[00:14:07] So those are

[00:14:08] key little

[00:14:09] things to this.

[00:14:11] The 41 games

[00:14:13] would end up

[00:14:14] being

[00:14:15] the two

[00:14:17] best records

[00:14:18] that don't

[00:14:20] include

[00:14:20] cup

[00:14:23] the winners

[00:14:24] of the pool,

[00:14:25] the winners

[00:14:26] of the pool

[00:14:26] in the NBA

[00:14:27] Cup.

[00:14:28] The two teams

[00:14:30] with the best

[00:14:31] record

[00:14:31] that are not

[00:14:32] currently in

[00:14:33] the NBA

[00:14:34] Cup,

[00:14:34] they would

[00:14:35] get the

[00:14:35] wildcard

[00:14:36] squats.

[00:14:38] Now,

[00:14:40] the 41 games

[00:14:42] are now

[00:14:43] important

[00:14:43] because

[00:14:44] why

[00:14:46] are these

[00:14:47] teams

[00:14:48] doing this?

[00:14:49] There has

[00:14:50] to be a

[00:14:50] reason

[00:14:51] win

[00:14:52] and $500,000

[00:14:54] unfortunately

[00:14:54] is not

[00:14:55] going to

[00:14:55] cut it.

[00:14:56] So,

[00:14:56] Soraya and

[00:14:57] I came up

[00:14:57] with something

[00:14:59] a little

[00:14:59] more palatable.

[00:15:02] Let's raise

[00:15:03] the stakes a

[00:15:04] little bit

[00:15:04] to the

[00:15:05] NBA Cup.

[00:15:06] Yeah,

[00:15:06] you get a

[00:15:06] title,

[00:15:07] you get a

[00:15:07] nice little

[00:15:08] trophy and

[00:15:08] little banner

[00:15:09] and get the

[00:15:09] $500,000.

[00:15:10] You still

[00:15:10] get all that.

[00:15:13] What happens

[00:15:13] if the

[00:15:14] winner

[00:15:15] of the

[00:15:16] NBA

[00:15:17] Emeritus

[00:15:17] Cup

[00:15:18] receives

[00:15:19] a

[00:15:20] basically

[00:15:21] whatever

[00:15:22] the

[00:15:23] mid-level

[00:15:23] exception

[00:15:24] is.

[00:15:25] So,

[00:15:26] if it's

[00:15:26] $16 or

[00:15:27] $17 million

[00:15:27] you would

[00:15:28] get that

[00:15:29] as a

[00:15:30] trade

[00:15:30] exception

[00:15:31] to use

[00:15:32] that year.

[00:15:34] So,

[00:15:35] the winner

[00:15:35] of the

[00:15:36] NBA Cup

[00:15:36] would get

[00:15:37] this $16

[00:15:38] to $17

[00:15:38] million

[00:15:39] trade

[00:15:39] exception.

[00:15:40] Now,

[00:15:41] you say

[00:15:42] Vince,

[00:15:42] what happens

[00:15:43] if they

[00:15:43] don't use

[00:15:44] it?

[00:15:44] Here's the

[00:15:45] thing,

[00:15:46] you could

[00:15:46] trade it

[00:15:48] for like

[00:15:49] a second

[00:15:49] round pick

[00:15:50] or a

[00:15:50] first round

[00:15:50] pick depending

[00:15:51] on who

[00:15:52] needed it

[00:15:53] or whatever

[00:15:53] the case

[00:15:54] may be.

[00:15:55] So,

[00:15:55] there's ways

[00:15:56] to utilize

[00:15:56] it.

[00:15:58] You'll be

[00:15:58] able to

[00:15:59] utilize it

[00:15:59] every,

[00:16:00] whoever has

[00:16:00] it will be

[00:16:01] able to

[00:16:01] utilize it

[00:16:02] every single

[00:16:02] year.

[00:16:03] Whether

[00:16:03] they were

[00:16:04] using it

[00:16:05] or they

[00:16:05] were trading

[00:16:06] it for

[00:16:07] something of

[00:16:07] value.

[00:16:08] A player

[00:16:09] or whatever

[00:16:11] the case

[00:16:12] may be.

[00:16:12] So,

[00:16:13] you have

[00:16:14] that.

[00:16:15] So,

[00:16:16] here's a

[00:16:17] way to

[00:16:18] make the

[00:16:19] season

[00:16:20] count.

[00:16:21] When we're

[00:16:21] going through

[00:16:22] the slog

[00:16:22] of the

[00:16:23] regular

[00:16:23] season and

[00:16:24] people are

[00:16:24] mad because

[00:16:25] the low

[00:16:26] management,

[00:16:27] people missing

[00:16:28] games,

[00:16:29] TV games

[00:16:30] are not

[00:16:31] important,

[00:16:31] we got

[00:16:32] big stars

[00:16:32] sitting out

[00:16:33] all the

[00:16:33] time,

[00:16:34] I bet

[00:16:35] you the

[00:16:35] franchises

[00:16:36] would be

[00:16:37] having the

[00:16:37] all-stars

[00:16:37] out there

[00:16:38] playing.

[00:16:40] If there

[00:16:40] was something

[00:16:41] on the

[00:16:41] line that

[00:16:42] was going

[00:16:42] to guarantee

[00:16:44] them some

[00:16:45] sort of

[00:16:45] competitive

[00:16:46] advantage or

[00:16:47] something that

[00:16:48] they could

[00:16:48] use to

[00:16:49] enhance their

[00:16:49] team within

[00:16:51] that season,

[00:16:52] all 30

[00:16:53] teams will

[00:16:53] go for

[00:16:54] this.

[00:16:55] You give

[00:16:56] somebody an

[00:16:56] extra 16

[00:16:57] to 17

[00:16:58] million dollars

[00:16:59] that they

[00:16:59] could use

[00:16:59] at their

[00:17:00] discretion,

[00:17:01] that doesn't

[00:17:02] count against

[00:17:02] the cap?

[00:17:03] Come on

[00:17:04] now.

[00:17:05] So,

[00:17:05] tell me

[00:17:06] how that,

[00:17:07] to me,

[00:17:07] how that

[00:17:08] works or

[00:17:09] doesn't work

[00:17:10] and doesn't

[00:17:10] make it

[00:17:11] competitive.

[00:17:11] Now,

[00:17:12] here's the

[00:17:12] other thing.

[00:17:13] The trade

[00:17:14] exception to

[00:17:16] add players

[00:17:16] would also

[00:17:17] be an

[00:17:19] exception to

[00:17:20] your cap.

[00:17:21] So,

[00:17:22] this would

[00:17:22] not count

[00:17:23] against your

[00:17:23] cap.

[00:17:24] This is just

[00:17:25] a bonus

[00:17:25] 16,

[00:17:26] 17 million

[00:17:27] dollars.

[00:17:28] So,

[00:17:29] if you are

[00:17:29] a first

[00:17:30] apron team,

[00:17:32] it doesn't

[00:17:32] matter.

[00:17:33] That 17

[00:17:33] million dollars

[00:17:34] will not

[00:17:35] count against

[00:17:36] your cap.

[00:17:37] A lot

[00:17:38] of teams

[00:17:38] could use

[00:17:39] this to

[00:17:40] grab a

[00:17:41] player.

[00:17:42] They could

[00:17:42] use it

[00:17:43] to acquire

[00:17:44] draft picks.

[00:17:45] They could

[00:17:45] use it

[00:17:46] for many

[00:17:47] numerous

[00:17:47] reasons.

[00:17:48] And I

[00:17:49] think it

[00:17:49] would allow

[00:17:52] an enhanced

[00:17:53] awareness of

[00:17:54] what was

[00:17:54] going on

[00:17:55] early in the

[00:17:55] season.

[00:17:56] You would

[00:17:56] get some

[00:17:57] more locked

[00:17:57] in players.

[00:17:59] I also

[00:17:59] believe you

[00:18:01] think of

[00:18:01] a team

[00:18:02] like the

[00:18:03] Indiana

[00:18:04] Pacers or

[00:18:05] the Orlando

[00:18:06] Magic.

[00:18:06] Could you

[00:18:07] imagine if

[00:18:08] this was

[00:18:09] in play

[00:18:09] this year?

[00:18:10] Let's take

[00:18:11] the Milwaukee

[00:18:12] Bucks.

[00:18:13] Here's a team

[00:18:13] that has no

[00:18:14] flexibility,

[00:18:15] financial

[00:18:16] flexibility

[00:18:16] whatsoever.

[00:18:18] Could you

[00:18:19] imagine they

[00:18:19] added a

[00:18:20] 16 or 17

[00:18:21] million dollar

[00:18:22] player or

[00:18:23] check this

[00:18:24] out.

[00:18:24] What happened

[00:18:25] if you added

[00:18:26] a salary?

[00:18:27] What happened

[00:18:28] if you added

[00:18:29] a 10 million

[00:18:29] dollar player

[00:18:30] to that?

[00:18:30] that's a

[00:18:32] 27 million

[00:18:33] dollar dude

[00:18:33] coming back

[00:18:34] to you

[00:18:34] that's

[00:18:35] costing

[00:18:37] only 10

[00:18:38] million dollars

[00:18:39] against the

[00:18:39] cap.

[00:18:40] Pretty sweet.

[00:18:42] So I think

[00:18:43] this also

[00:18:44] helps and

[00:18:44] it would

[00:18:45] help smaller

[00:18:46] franchises as

[00:18:47] well who are

[00:18:48] a little more

[00:18:50] financially frugal

[00:18:51] when it

[00:18:52] comes to

[00:18:53] their cap

[00:18:53] situation.

[00:18:54] They had

[00:18:55] 17 extra

[00:18:56] million dollars

[00:18:56] to play

[00:18:57] with.

[00:18:58] This would

[00:18:59] also help

[00:19:00] the trade

[00:19:00] situation which

[00:19:01] we will talk

[00:19:02] about later.

[00:19:04] So this

[00:19:04] would also

[00:19:06] help teams

[00:19:07] help franchises

[00:19:08] it'll create

[00:19:09] a more

[00:19:09] competitive

[00:19:10] situation

[00:19:10] early in the

[00:19:11] season and

[00:19:12] it doesn't

[00:19:13] sacrifice

[00:19:13] financial

[00:19:14] flexibility.

[00:19:17] I think

[00:19:17] this is a

[00:19:18] win-win.

[00:19:18] It would

[00:19:19] add meaning

[00:19:20] to the

[00:19:20] regular season

[00:19:21] and eliminates

[00:19:22] tanking we

[00:19:22] will see

[00:19:23] early on

[00:19:26] and it

[00:19:26] would force

[00:19:27] teams to

[00:19:27] compete at

[00:19:28] a higher

[00:19:28] level from

[00:19:29] day one.

[00:19:29] I think

[00:19:30] the fans

[00:19:30] would get

[00:19:31] a more

[00:19:31] competitive

[00:19:32] product and

[00:19:33] it would

[00:19:33] add excitement

[00:19:35] to the

[00:19:35] cup that

[00:19:37] personally

[00:19:37] we know

[00:19:38] the first

[00:19:39] part of the

[00:19:40] year is

[00:19:40] traditionally

[00:19:41] slow.

[00:19:42] We might

[00:19:43] get that

[00:19:43] first little

[00:19:44] like bump

[00:19:45] of excitement

[00:19:46] when the

[00:19:47] rookies are

[00:19:48] playing like

[00:19:49] when we first

[00:19:49] see the

[00:19:49] rookies out

[00:19:50] there.

[00:19:50] Oh cool.

[00:19:51] We get to

[00:19:51] see how he

[00:19:52] plays.

[00:19:53] But then

[00:19:53] we get back

[00:19:55] into football.

[00:19:56] We lock

[00:19:57] in the

[00:19:57] football.

[00:19:58] Then as

[00:19:58] football starts

[00:19:59] to wind

[00:19:59] down we

[00:20:00] start to

[00:20:00] take notice

[00:20:01] of the NBA.

[00:20:02] That's how

[00:20:02] the casual

[00:20:03] fans look at

[00:20:04] it.

[00:20:04] The hoop

[00:20:05] heads we

[00:20:06] follow this

[00:20:06] all year round.

[00:20:08] So we love

[00:20:09] it but

[00:20:10] I think we

[00:20:11] all could

[00:20:12] say that

[00:20:13] having a

[00:20:13] little more

[00:20:14] skin in

[00:20:14] the game

[00:20:15] having

[00:20:15] something else

[00:20:16] to go

[00:20:17] after other

[00:20:18] than money

[00:20:19] and a

[00:20:20] trophy that

[00:20:21] doesn't really

[00:20:22] amount to

[00:20:23] anything.

[00:20:24] If Adam

[00:20:25] Silver wants

[00:20:26] real competitive

[00:20:28] games in the

[00:20:30] month of

[00:20:31] November and

[00:20:34] early December

[00:20:35] this is how

[00:20:37] you do

[00:20:37] it.

[00:20:38] So if

[00:20:39] you're a

[00:20:39] fan of

[00:20:40] this idea

[00:20:40] or if you

[00:20:41] think this

[00:20:41] idea is

[00:20:42] absolutely

[00:20:43] just ludicrous

[00:20:44] hit me up

[00:20:45] on X or

[00:20:46] hit me up

[00:20:46] on Blue

[00:20:47] Sky at

[00:20:49] Frontrunner

[00:20:49] PC.

[00:20:52] Now our

[00:20:53] second gift

[00:20:54] to the

[00:20:56] NBA

[00:20:57] involves

[00:20:58] the fans.

[00:21:01] This is

[00:21:02] strictly for

[00:21:02] the fans.

[00:21:04] other

[00:21:04] thing helps

[00:21:05] the franchises

[00:21:06] helps Adam

[00:21:07] Silver make

[00:21:07] more money

[00:21:08] creates

[00:21:09] competitiveness

[00:21:10] which also

[00:21:11] helps the

[00:21:11] fans as

[00:21:12] well.

[00:21:13] But this

[00:21:14] one is for

[00:21:15] the fans

[00:21:15] exclusively.

[00:21:17] So we

[00:21:18] want to

[00:21:18] help fans

[00:21:20] know about

[00:21:21] the NBA

[00:21:22] and know

[00:21:22] about the

[00:21:23] players and

[00:21:24] we want to

[00:21:24] create stars.

[00:21:25] We're always

[00:21:26] talking about

[00:21:27] who's the

[00:21:28] next American

[00:21:29] star?

[00:21:29] Who's the

[00:21:30] next guy

[00:21:31] that's going

[00:21:32] to jump

[00:21:32] out and

[00:21:33] be this

[00:21:34] dominant

[00:21:35] force and

[00:21:36] create excitement

[00:21:37] and create

[00:21:39] chatter around

[00:21:41] a great game

[00:21:42] of basketball.

[00:21:43] Now I

[00:21:46] understand that

[00:21:46] Netflix did

[00:21:47] some sort

[00:21:48] of docu

[00:21:48] series with

[00:21:49] the starting

[00:21:50] five.

[00:21:51] It was

[00:21:52] boring as

[00:21:52] hell.

[00:21:54] Jason Tatum's

[00:21:54] up there

[00:21:55] damn near

[00:21:56] sounding like

[00:21:57] WWE Hall

[00:21:59] of Famer

[00:22:00] Rikishi.

[00:22:01] I did it

[00:22:02] for the

[00:22:03] rock.

[00:22:06] Jason,

[00:22:06] show some

[00:22:09] personality

[00:22:10] man.

[00:22:11] Dude,

[00:22:11] don't be

[00:22:12] super boring.

[00:22:13] This is a

[00:22:13] TV product.

[00:22:15] We trying to

[00:22:16] create stars

[00:22:17] here.

[00:22:19] Crazy.

[00:22:20] This dude

[00:22:20] gets on

[00:22:20] there and

[00:22:21] goes

[00:22:22] completely

[00:22:24] like

[00:22:24] Frasier

[00:22:25] Crane.

[00:22:26] Super

[00:22:27] boring.

[00:22:28] Can't

[00:22:28] stand it.

[00:22:29] So nuts

[00:22:30] to me.

[00:22:32] Now,

[00:22:33] so how do

[00:22:34] we do it?

[00:22:35] How do we

[00:22:35] get fans

[00:22:37] closer to

[00:22:37] the NBA?

[00:22:39] A lot of

[00:22:39] ways.

[00:22:40] I think

[00:22:41] what we

[00:22:42] can do

[00:22:43] is we

[00:22:46] should have

[00:22:46] know how

[00:22:47] they do

[00:22:47] the NBA,

[00:22:49] the NBA

[00:22:50] channel.

[00:22:52] NBA TV

[00:22:53] comes on.

[00:22:54] They have

[00:22:54] their game

[00:22:56] of the

[00:22:57] week.

[00:22:57] I think

[00:22:58] fans should

[00:22:59] be able to

[00:22:59] vote on

[00:23:00] that.

[00:23:00] Now,

[00:23:02] as a

[00:23:03] secondary

[00:23:03] thing,

[00:23:05] you should

[00:23:06] be able to

[00:23:07] vote for

[00:23:08] the player

[00:23:08] that you

[00:23:09] want

[00:23:09] mic'd up

[00:23:10] as well.

[00:23:12] So not

[00:23:12] only are

[00:23:13] you voting

[00:23:13] for the

[00:23:14] teams that

[00:23:15] you want

[00:23:15] to see,

[00:23:16] you also

[00:23:17] want to

[00:23:17] see,

[00:23:18] you also

[00:23:18] get for

[00:23:19] the person

[00:23:20] that you

[00:23:20] want to

[00:23:20] hear from.

[00:23:22] And the

[00:23:22] reason for

[00:23:23] this is,

[00:23:24] it's just

[00:23:24] to hear

[00:23:26] some of

[00:23:27] the basketball

[00:23:29] nuances of

[00:23:30] the game.

[00:23:31] We can

[00:23:31] get to know

[00:23:32] this guy a

[00:23:33] little better,

[00:23:34] put a face

[00:23:35] to the stats

[00:23:36] that we're

[00:23:37] looking at

[00:23:37] if you're

[00:23:37] a fantasy

[00:23:38] player or

[00:23:39] if you're

[00:23:39] a person

[00:23:40] that bets

[00:23:40] all the

[00:23:40] time and

[00:23:41] things of

[00:23:41] that nature.

[00:23:42] This is

[00:23:43] what we

[00:23:44] need to

[00:23:44] do to

[00:23:46] create

[00:23:46] stars.

[00:23:47] You need

[00:23:48] to have

[00:23:49] something

[00:23:49] that people

[00:23:51] can get

[00:23:52] behind.

[00:23:53] And the

[00:23:54] only way

[00:23:54] they can

[00:23:55] get behind

[00:23:55] something is

[00:23:56] that they

[00:23:57] have some

[00:23:57] sort of

[00:23:57] emotional

[00:23:58] attachment

[00:23:59] to it.

[00:23:59] Oh,

[00:24:00] shit.

[00:24:01] Oh,

[00:24:02] Steph is

[00:24:02] playing.

[00:24:02] Why do

[00:24:03] we love

[00:24:04] Steph?

[00:24:04] We just

[00:24:04] love

[00:24:04] Steph.

[00:24:06] We don't

[00:24:06] even know

[00:24:07] why we

[00:24:07] love

[00:24:08] Steph now.

[00:24:08] He's

[00:24:09] incredible.

[00:24:10] He shoots

[00:24:11] threes at

[00:24:12] a ridiculous

[00:24:13] level.

[00:24:13] He shoots

[00:24:14] long threes.

[00:24:16] It looks

[00:24:17] effortless.

[00:24:18] You need to

[00:24:19] do this for

[00:24:19] the new

[00:24:20] guys.

[00:24:21] We need

[00:24:21] to know

[00:24:22] more about

[00:24:23] Anthony

[00:24:24] Edwards.

[00:24:25] We need

[00:24:26] to know

[00:24:26] more

[00:24:28] about

[00:24:28] Devin

[00:24:29] Booker

[00:24:29] instead of

[00:24:30] him just

[00:24:31] dating

[00:24:32] our

[00:24:33] Kardashian

[00:24:33] or Jenner

[00:24:34] or whatever

[00:24:35] it was.

[00:24:36] I don't

[00:24:36] know.

[00:24:38] But we

[00:24:39] need to

[00:24:40] know more

[00:24:40] about these

[00:24:41] guys.

[00:24:41] And how

[00:24:42] you do

[00:24:42] that is

[00:24:43] you create

[00:24:44] situations

[00:24:44] like this.

[00:24:45] So instead

[00:24:46] of just

[00:24:46] voting for

[00:24:47] the game,

[00:24:47] get these

[00:24:48] guys

[00:24:48] mic'd up,

[00:24:49] have them

[00:24:50] vote on

[00:24:51] something like

[00:24:51] that as

[00:24:52] well.

[00:24:52] I think

[00:24:53] that would

[00:24:54] be something

[00:24:54] that we

[00:24:55] could do

[00:24:56] easily.

[00:24:58] I think

[00:24:59] also the

[00:25:01] next technology

[00:25:02] that needs

[00:25:03] to either

[00:25:06] come down

[00:25:06] in price or

[00:25:07] whatever,

[00:25:07] I think

[00:25:08] having that

[00:25:09] situation with

[00:25:10] the VR

[00:25:12] is maybe

[00:25:14] another way

[00:25:14] where we

[00:25:15] could really

[00:25:16] introduce the

[00:25:16] game to

[00:25:18] casual

[00:25:19] viewers and

[00:25:21] if we can

[00:25:22] give them

[00:25:22] like a

[00:25:23] core-sized

[00:25:23] seat with

[00:25:24] the VR,

[00:25:25] I think

[00:25:27] that would

[00:25:29] be able to

[00:25:30] really show

[00:25:31] the

[00:25:32] athleticism

[00:25:33] and the

[00:25:34] gracefulness

[00:25:35] of these

[00:25:36] incredible

[00:25:37] basketball players

[00:25:38] that we get

[00:25:39] to watch

[00:25:39] 82 games

[00:25:41] a year

[00:25:41] and then

[00:25:42] into the

[00:25:42] playoffs.

[00:25:43] Again,

[00:25:44] we're hoop

[00:25:45] heads,

[00:25:45] we love

[00:25:46] this game,

[00:25:47] we eat

[00:25:47] this,

[00:25:47] we drink

[00:25:48] this,

[00:25:49] we sleep,

[00:25:49] this is

[00:25:50] what we

[00:25:50] do.

[00:25:51] But for

[00:25:51] the casual

[00:25:52] person

[00:25:52] that doesn't

[00:25:54] see the

[00:25:55] balletic

[00:25:57] movements

[00:25:57] of Shea,

[00:25:58] Gilgis,

[00:25:59] Alexander

[00:26:00] on a

[00:26:01] nightly

[00:26:01] basis,

[00:26:01] if they

[00:26:02] could really

[00:26:03] experience that

[00:26:04] up close and

[00:26:04] personal with

[00:26:05] the VR

[00:26:06] or whatever

[00:26:06] case may be,

[00:26:07] I think that

[00:26:07] would be something

[00:26:08] that you can

[00:26:09] do.

[00:26:09] Maybe you

[00:26:10] could do

[00:26:10] that even

[00:26:11] in an

[00:26:12] act.

[00:26:13] Maybe it's

[00:26:13] not just

[00:26:14] during the

[00:26:14] game,

[00:26:14] maybe it's

[00:26:15] something that

[00:26:15] you can

[00:26:15] just go

[00:26:16] in and

[00:26:16] say,

[00:26:16] these are

[00:26:17] the highlights

[00:26:18] that Shea,

[00:26:18] Gilgis,

[00:26:19] Alexander created

[00:26:20] over the last

[00:26:21] week and you

[00:26:22] can go view

[00:26:22] them in

[00:26:23] your VR.

[00:26:24] So,

[00:26:24] Rhea,

[00:26:25] it's

[00:26:26] 2717.

[00:26:28] We can

[00:26:29] also expand

[00:26:31] player-fan

[00:26:32] interactions.

[00:26:33] Players like

[00:26:34] Kevin Durant

[00:26:35] and Tyrese

[00:26:36] Halliburton

[00:26:36] are already

[00:26:38] engaging with

[00:26:40] fans on

[00:26:40] Twitch.

[00:26:48] Sessions

[00:26:49] or virtual

[00:26:51] watch parties

[00:26:51] hosted by

[00:26:52] your NBA

[00:26:53] stars on

[00:26:54] off nights.

[00:26:56] Like,

[00:26:57] you have the

[00:26:57] capability of

[00:26:58] doing stuff

[00:26:58] like this.

[00:26:59] So,

[00:27:01] if you,

[00:27:03] especially with

[00:27:04] the new

[00:27:04] arenas,

[00:27:06] you have

[00:27:07] those,

[00:27:07] like,

[00:27:07] the clubs

[00:27:08] inside

[00:27:09] the arena.

[00:27:11] You could

[00:27:12] have a

[00:27:12] special,

[00:27:14] if you are

[00:27:15] a ticket

[00:27:15] holder,

[00:27:16] a season

[00:27:16] ticket

[00:27:16] holder,

[00:27:17] something

[00:27:18] once every

[00:27:19] month,

[00:27:20] let's say

[00:27:21] they had

[00:27:21] an off

[00:27:22] night,

[00:27:22] you could

[00:27:23] have maybe

[00:27:24] a player

[00:27:25] come in

[00:27:26] and answer

[00:27:27] questions,

[00:27:28] just watch

[00:27:28] the game,

[00:27:29] it's a watch

[00:27:29] party,

[00:27:30] whatever,

[00:27:30] you can have

[00:27:31] them watch

[00:27:31] a G League

[00:27:32] game,

[00:27:32] so now

[00:27:33] you're

[00:27:33] promoting

[00:27:33] your own

[00:27:34] G League

[00:27:35] team,

[00:27:36] and then

[00:27:37] the player

[00:27:38] who is

[00:27:39] there,

[00:27:39] let's

[00:27:40] say it's,

[00:27:41] we'll take

[00:27:42] the Clippers,

[00:27:43] let's say

[00:27:43] Norman Powell

[00:27:44] is there,

[00:27:44] and they're

[00:27:45] talking about

[00:27:45] a G League

[00:27:46] player,

[00:27:47] let's say

[00:27:47] like now

[00:27:48] Amir

[00:27:48] Coffey has

[00:27:50] graduated to

[00:27:51] the big

[00:27:51] club,

[00:27:52] but a

[00:27:52] couple years

[00:27:53] back,

[00:27:53] Amir

[00:27:53] Coffey was

[00:27:54] in the

[00:27:54] G League,

[00:27:55] imagine like

[00:27:56] Norm Powell

[00:27:57] giving you

[00:27:58] like,

[00:27:58] oh yeah,

[00:27:59] he has a

[00:27:59] nasty jump

[00:28:00] shot,

[00:28:01] or quick

[00:28:01] first step,

[00:28:02] or just

[00:28:03] things like

[00:28:03] that,

[00:28:03] these are

[00:28:04] things that

[00:28:06] are easy

[00:28:07] to do,

[00:28:08] it's something

[00:28:09] that in

[00:28:11] their contract

[00:28:11] that they

[00:28:12] do special

[00:28:13] events for

[00:28:14] the season

[00:28:15] ticket holders

[00:28:16] anyway,

[00:28:17] and this

[00:28:19] is another

[00:28:19] way for

[00:28:20] the fan

[00:28:21] to know

[00:28:22] the player

[00:28:23] a little

[00:28:24] bit better.

[00:28:26] Now,

[00:28:27] the third

[00:28:28] gift

[00:28:30] that we

[00:28:31] are going

[00:28:32] to give

[00:28:32] people,

[00:28:34] and the

[00:28:34] third gift

[00:28:35] that we

[00:28:35] are going

[00:28:36] to give

[00:28:36] the NBA

[00:28:37] is this,

[00:28:39] we need

[00:28:40] more

[00:28:43] rivalries

[00:28:43] in the

[00:28:45] NBA,

[00:28:46] we need

[00:28:47] more

[00:28:48] animosity,

[00:28:49] we need

[00:28:50] more trash

[00:28:51] talking,

[00:28:52] we need

[00:28:53] more guys

[00:28:54] saying,

[00:28:54] I'm sick

[00:28:55] of playing

[00:28:55] that team,

[00:28:56] or I'm

[00:28:57] sick of

[00:28:58] this team

[00:28:58] beating us,

[00:29:02] we need

[00:29:03] to create

[00:29:03] somehow,

[00:29:06] there used

[00:29:07] to be like

[00:29:08] built-in

[00:29:09] just

[00:29:09] complete

[00:29:10] dislike

[00:29:12] for

[00:29:13] franchises,

[00:29:14] now I

[00:29:14] know the

[00:29:15] game has

[00:29:15] changed,

[00:29:16] I know

[00:29:16] that we

[00:29:17] are a

[00:29:18] softer

[00:29:18] nation

[00:29:19] now,

[00:29:20] and I

[00:29:20] don't

[00:29:20] mean that

[00:29:20] in a

[00:29:20] bad way,

[00:29:21] I mean

[00:29:22] it in a

[00:29:22] way of

[00:29:24] kindler,

[00:29:24] gentler

[00:29:25] nation,

[00:29:28] these kids

[00:29:28] have grown

[00:29:29] up all

[00:29:29] together

[00:29:30] with the

[00:29:30] AAU,

[00:29:31] they know

[00:29:32] each other,

[00:29:33] we're doing

[00:29:33] jersey swaps

[00:29:34] all the

[00:29:34] time,

[00:29:35] but I

[00:29:36] think

[00:29:37] the

[00:29:38] NBA needs

[00:29:39] to

[00:29:39] reignite

[00:29:40] rivalries,

[00:29:41] I think

[00:29:42] if we

[00:29:42] increase

[00:29:43] divisional

[00:29:44] games,

[00:29:45] and

[00:29:46] borrowing

[00:29:47] something from

[00:29:48] the NFL

[00:29:48] model,

[00:29:49] where

[00:29:49] the NBA

[00:29:51] division

[00:29:52] could face

[00:29:53] against

[00:29:54] a division

[00:29:55] from the

[00:29:55] opposite

[00:29:57] conference,

[00:29:58] instead of

[00:29:58] playing

[00:29:59] every,

[00:30:00] all the

[00:30:01] teams in

[00:30:02] the conference,

[00:30:03] if we can

[00:30:04] adopt something

[00:30:04] like that,

[00:30:05] where we're

[00:30:05] just playing

[00:30:06] like the

[00:30:06] Atlantic

[00:30:07] division,

[00:30:08] and then

[00:30:08] the next

[00:30:08] year,

[00:30:09] the Pacific

[00:30:09] division

[00:30:10] would play

[00:30:10] the central

[00:30:12] division,

[00:30:13] but you

[00:30:15] play more

[00:30:16] division games,

[00:30:17] so the games

[00:30:18] that you

[00:30:18] wouldn't play

[00:30:19] in the

[00:30:20] Eastern

[00:30:20] Conference,

[00:30:21] so we

[00:30:21] play,

[00:30:22] what,

[00:30:22] two,

[00:30:23] 15,

[00:30:24] we play

[00:30:24] 30 games

[00:30:26] in the

[00:30:27] Eastern

[00:30:27] Conference,

[00:30:29] okay,

[00:30:30] if you're

[00:30:30] playing 30

[00:30:31] games in the

[00:30:32] Eastern Conference,

[00:30:32] if we took

[00:30:33] out,

[00:30:36] what,

[00:30:36] was it,

[00:30:37] you play

[00:30:37] five,

[00:30:38] 10,

[00:30:38] okay,

[00:30:38] so you're

[00:30:39] going to

[00:30:39] play 10

[00:30:39] games in the

[00:30:40] Eastern Conference,

[00:30:40] that means

[00:30:41] there's 20

[00:30:41] games,

[00:30:43] if you

[00:30:44] added those

[00:30:45] 20 games

[00:30:46] to division,

[00:30:49] so now

[00:30:50] we're talking

[00:30:50] about what,

[00:30:53] another game

[00:30:54] or two

[00:30:56] towards

[00:30:56] people in

[00:30:57] your own

[00:30:58] division,

[00:30:59] that will

[00:31:00] create rivalry,

[00:31:01] because now

[00:31:02] you're seeing

[00:31:03] that team

[00:31:04] more,

[00:31:06] you create

[00:31:07] just,

[00:31:08] what is it,

[00:31:09] what's the word

[00:31:09] I'm looking

[00:31:10] for,

[00:31:10] other phrase

[00:31:10] I'm looking

[00:31:11] for,

[00:31:13] intimacy

[00:31:14] grows content,

[00:31:15] when you

[00:31:15] know somebody,

[00:31:16] you're just

[00:31:17] going to be

[00:31:17] like,

[00:31:17] man,

[00:31:17] I'm sick

[00:31:18] of you,

[00:31:18] sick of

[00:31:19] seeing your

[00:31:19] face,

[00:31:21] I'm sick

[00:31:21] of you

[00:31:22] dunking

[00:31:22] on me,

[00:31:23] I'm sick

[00:31:24] of your

[00:31:24] sweaty

[00:31:25] armpits

[00:31:26] hitting me

[00:31:27] in the

[00:31:28] mouth

[00:31:28] all the

[00:31:28] time,

[00:31:30] true story,

[00:31:31] it happens,

[00:31:33] but,

[00:31:34] it's a

[00:31:35] way where

[00:31:36] you can

[00:31:37] now

[00:31:38] start having

[00:31:39] things where

[00:31:41] it's like

[00:31:41] Tatum versus

[00:31:42] Curry,

[00:31:43] and it's an

[00:31:43] event,

[00:31:44] or

[00:31:45] NB versus

[00:31:47] SGA,

[00:31:49] or

[00:31:49] things like

[00:31:50] that,

[00:31:51] or

[00:31:52] Brunson

[00:31:53] goes to

[00:31:54] face Luka

[00:31:55] to return,

[00:31:57] you can

[00:31:58] build up

[00:31:59] these things,

[00:31:59] talk them up,

[00:32:00] all these

[00:32:00] type of

[00:32:01] things,

[00:32:01] and then you

[00:32:01] can have

[00:32:02] rivalry,

[00:32:02] where you

[00:32:04] can have

[00:32:04] Warriors,

[00:32:05] Grizzlies,

[00:32:06] Celtics,

[00:32:07] 76ers,

[00:32:08] anybody in

[00:32:10] the Lakers,

[00:32:10] because everybody

[00:32:11] seems to hate

[00:32:11] the Lakers for

[00:32:12] some reason,

[00:32:14] and rivalries

[00:32:15] aren't just

[00:32:15] about teams,

[00:32:17] they're about

[00:32:17] players,

[00:32:18] you can

[00:32:19] have,

[00:32:19] you can

[00:32:20] drum up

[00:32:20] the

[00:32:21] NB

[00:32:21] Jokic

[00:32:22] thing,

[00:32:23] if NB

[00:32:23] ever

[00:32:24] becomes

[00:32:25] healthy

[00:32:26] to play

[00:32:27] again,

[00:32:28] Luka versus

[00:32:29] Ja,

[00:32:30] or Luka

[00:32:30] versus Trey,

[00:32:31] because of

[00:32:32] the draft

[00:32:33] situation,

[00:32:34] these are

[00:32:35] the type

[00:32:36] of storylines

[00:32:37] that they

[00:32:37] should be

[00:32:38] like,

[00:32:38] drilling in

[00:32:39] our head

[00:32:39] when these

[00:32:40] two teams

[00:32:41] play,

[00:32:42] Luka versus

[00:32:43] Trey,

[00:32:44] they were

[00:32:45] traded for

[00:32:46] one another

[00:32:46] on draft

[00:32:47] night,

[00:32:48] now they

[00:32:48] go toe

[00:32:49] to toe,

[00:32:50] those things

[00:32:51] should be

[00:32:52] talked about,

[00:32:53] building

[00:32:53] narratives

[00:32:54] around these

[00:32:55] matchups,

[00:32:56] keeps

[00:32:56] fans

[00:32:57] invested,

[00:32:59] rivalries

[00:32:59] keep

[00:33:00] fans

[00:33:00] emotionally

[00:33:01] connected

[00:33:01] to the

[00:33:02] league,

[00:33:02] I'm just

[00:33:03] saying,

[00:33:03] I know

[00:33:04] what my

[00:33:04] favorite

[00:33:04] rivalry

[00:33:05] is,

[00:33:06] it's

[00:33:06] the

[00:33:07] Lakers

[00:33:07] versus

[00:33:07] the

[00:33:08] Celtics,

[00:33:08] I grew

[00:33:09] up in

[00:33:10] it,

[00:33:10] I watched

[00:33:11] it,

[00:33:11] there was

[00:33:12] a certain

[00:33:12] time

[00:33:12] where I

[00:33:14] would use

[00:33:14] the H

[00:33:15] word,

[00:33:16] hate the

[00:33:17] Celtics,

[00:33:17] I can't

[00:33:18] hate the

[00:33:18] Celtics

[00:33:19] anymore,

[00:33:19] I lived

[00:33:20] in Boston

[00:33:21] for too

[00:33:21] long,

[00:33:22] I still

[00:33:23] don't like

[00:33:23] them,

[00:33:24] I can't root

[00:33:24] for them,

[00:33:26] I just

[00:33:26] can't

[00:33:27] hate

[00:33:27] them,

[00:33:28] because

[00:33:29] they did

[00:33:30] right,

[00:33:30] I just

[00:33:31] think

[00:33:31] personally,

[00:33:32] this is

[00:33:33] something

[00:33:34] that we

[00:33:34] should

[00:33:35] really

[00:33:35] think,

[00:33:36] I think

[00:33:36] rivalries

[00:33:37] are good,

[00:33:37] I think

[00:33:38] if we

[00:33:38] have more

[00:33:39] divisional

[00:33:39] games,

[00:33:40] if we

[00:33:40] only play

[00:33:41] one division

[00:33:42] in the

[00:33:44] opposite

[00:33:44] conference,

[00:33:45] I think

[00:33:45] it would

[00:33:45] build

[00:33:47] more

[00:33:48] competitiveness,

[00:33:50] so you

[00:33:50] guys tell

[00:33:51] me your

[00:33:51] thoughts on

[00:33:51] these three

[00:33:52] wishes that

[00:33:53] we've given

[00:33:53] the NBA,

[00:33:54] so we

[00:33:54] want more

[00:33:55] rivalries by

[00:33:56] playing more

[00:33:57] divisional

[00:33:58] games,

[00:33:59] take less

[00:34:00] of the

[00:34:00] other

[00:34:01] conference,

[00:34:02] and then

[00:34:02] put gem

[00:34:03] into your

[00:34:04] division,

[00:34:06] the second

[00:34:06] thing that we

[00:34:07] want to do

[00:34:07] is we want

[00:34:08] to create

[00:34:09] fan interaction

[00:34:10] or just

[00:34:11] fan service

[00:34:12] by getting

[00:34:14] you closer

[00:34:15] to the

[00:34:15] game,

[00:34:16] by having

[00:34:16] people come

[00:34:17] in and

[00:34:18] doing like

[00:34:18] G League

[00:34:19] night,

[00:34:20] and maybe

[00:34:20] have players

[00:34:21] or people

[00:34:22] from the

[00:34:22] front office

[00:34:23] talk about

[00:34:23] the G

[00:34:25] League team

[00:34:26] or maybe

[00:34:26] a guy who's

[00:34:27] on the

[00:34:27] G League

[00:34:27] team who's

[00:34:28] on the

[00:34:28] come up,

[00:34:29] we also

[00:34:30] talked about

[00:34:31] the thing

[00:34:33] to make

[00:34:34] the first

[00:34:35] part of

[00:34:36] the year

[00:34:36] great by

[00:34:38] giving a

[00:34:39] trade

[00:34:39] exception to

[00:34:40] the winner

[00:34:41] of the

[00:34:41] NBA Cup,

[00:34:43] bet you

[00:34:43] 30 teams

[00:34:44] would be

[00:34:45] going for

[00:34:46] that,

[00:34:47] because

[00:34:48] anytime you

[00:34:48] can get a

[00:34:49] leg up on

[00:34:49] the competition

[00:34:50] is fantastic.

[00:34:52] Now,

[00:34:53] this really

[00:34:54] ends our

[00:34:55] three wishes,

[00:34:56] but we

[00:34:57] have a

[00:34:57] bonus wish

[00:34:58] for the

[00:34:58] NBA,

[00:35:01] and the

[00:35:02] reason why

[00:35:03] I'm giving

[00:35:03] you a

[00:35:03] bonus this

[00:35:04] year,

[00:35:04] we didn't

[00:35:05] give this

[00:35:05] to you

[00:35:05] last year,

[00:35:06] this year

[00:35:07] we will,

[00:35:08] but I've

[00:35:09] heard a lot

[00:35:10] of talk

[00:35:10] on different

[00:35:11] podcasts,

[00:35:11] I listened

[00:35:12] to Bill

[00:35:13] Simmons,

[00:35:13] I listened

[00:35:14] to Ryan

[00:35:14] Rosillo,

[00:35:15] I listened

[00:35:15] to Colin

[00:35:16] Cowherd,

[00:35:17] I listened

[00:35:17] to Wozney

[00:35:19] Lambre,

[00:35:20] there's a

[00:35:21] lot of

[00:35:21] people,

[00:35:21] Zach Lowe,

[00:35:22] love Zach,

[00:35:23] miss Zach,

[00:35:24] we need

[00:35:25] Zach back

[00:35:25] on the

[00:35:26] air,

[00:35:27] I listened

[00:35:27] to the

[00:35:28] guys from

[00:35:28] All the

[00:35:28] Smoke,

[00:35:29] there's a

[00:35:30] ton of

[00:35:30] podcasts I

[00:35:31] listen to,

[00:35:32] but the

[00:35:34] one thing

[00:35:34] that I've

[00:35:34] been hearing

[00:35:35] over and

[00:35:36] over again

[00:35:37] is the

[00:35:38] lack of

[00:35:39] movement on

[00:35:40] trade

[00:35:40] deadline,

[00:35:41] that trade

[00:35:42] deadline,

[00:35:43] because of

[00:35:44] how the

[00:35:46] CBA has

[00:35:47] changed

[00:35:47] things,

[00:35:48] and how

[00:35:48] it's

[00:35:49] restrictive

[00:35:50] to make

[00:35:51] trades because

[00:35:52] of how the

[00:35:53] salary cap

[00:35:53] works,

[00:35:54] and things

[00:35:54] of that

[00:35:54] nature,

[00:35:56] I think

[00:35:56] that we

[00:35:59] talked about

[00:36:00] that trade

[00:36:00] exception that

[00:36:01] the NBA

[00:36:01] Cup,

[00:36:02] it ties

[00:36:03] into this,

[00:36:04] so you

[00:36:06] can use

[00:36:06] it to

[00:36:06] acquire a

[00:36:07] star,

[00:36:08] or flick

[00:36:08] it for

[00:36:09] draft picks,

[00:36:09] and things

[00:36:10] of that

[00:36:10] nature,

[00:36:10] it just

[00:36:11] creates real

[00:36:12] incentives for

[00:36:12] front office

[00:36:13] to stay

[00:36:13] competitive,

[00:36:14] now,

[00:36:16] let's

[00:36:16] address the

[00:36:17] new CBA

[00:36:18] and the

[00:36:18] apron rules

[00:36:19] that go

[00:36:19] along with

[00:36:20] it,

[00:36:20] which is

[00:36:21] stifle

[00:36:21] trades,

[00:36:22] what if

[00:36:23] the league

[00:36:23] temporarily

[00:36:24] relaxed

[00:36:24] these

[00:36:25] restrictions

[00:36:26] during the

[00:36:27] deadline,

[00:36:29] there's

[00:36:29] another way

[00:36:30] to do this,

[00:36:31] because I've

[00:36:32] seen people

[00:36:32] talk about

[00:36:33] relax the

[00:36:34] cap,

[00:36:35] and what

[00:36:35] have you,

[00:36:36] I have

[00:36:36] another way

[00:36:37] of doing

[00:36:37] this,

[00:36:38] let's

[00:36:39] reimagine

[00:36:40] the salary

[00:36:41] cap,

[00:36:42] let's

[00:36:43] reward

[00:36:44] teams

[00:36:44] for

[00:36:45] showing

[00:36:46] loyalty

[00:36:46] to

[00:36:47] players

[00:36:47] that they

[00:36:48] draft

[00:36:49] and develop

[00:36:50] and keep,

[00:36:51] now,

[00:36:52] I have

[00:36:54] a point,

[00:36:56] it might

[00:36:57] be half

[00:36:58] baked,

[00:36:58] but give

[00:36:59] it a

[00:36:59] listen,

[00:37:01] so you

[00:37:02] draft a

[00:37:02] player,

[00:37:04] okay,

[00:37:05] so everybody

[00:37:05] gets these

[00:37:06] pretty much

[00:37:06] every year,

[00:37:07] except if

[00:37:07] you traded

[00:37:08] away all

[00:37:09] your first

[00:37:09] round picks

[00:37:10] and things

[00:37:10] of that

[00:37:10] nature,

[00:37:11] but alas,

[00:37:12] you also

[00:37:12] have second

[00:37:13] round picks,

[00:37:13] but I'll

[00:37:15] tell you how

[00:37:15] it all

[00:37:15] works,

[00:37:16] so you

[00:37:16] draft a

[00:37:17] player,

[00:37:17] let's say,

[00:37:18] okay,

[00:37:19] let's take,

[00:37:21] I'm trying

[00:37:21] to think,

[00:37:22] let's take

[00:37:22] Reed Shepard

[00:37:23] from the

[00:37:23] Houston

[00:37:24] Rockets,

[00:37:24] he was

[00:37:24] drafted

[00:37:25] this year,

[00:37:26] okay,

[00:37:27] so Reed

[00:37:28] Shepard

[00:37:28] comes into

[00:37:29] the NBA,

[00:37:31] now,

[00:37:31] Reed Shepard

[00:37:34] does

[00:37:35] something,

[00:37:35] you have

[00:37:35] to do

[00:37:36] something

[00:37:36] to get

[00:37:37] this,

[00:37:37] but hopefully

[00:37:38] within

[00:37:40] a six-year

[00:37:41] cycle,

[00:37:42] you'll get

[00:37:42] this,

[00:37:43] but you

[00:37:44] gotta have

[00:37:45] your rookie

[00:37:46] do something,

[00:37:47] make it

[00:37:47] all rookie

[00:37:48] team,

[00:37:49] he has

[00:37:49] to make

[00:37:50] on,

[00:37:51] if he

[00:37:51] does

[00:37:52] two,

[00:37:52] okay,

[00:37:53] this is

[00:37:53] how he

[00:37:54] would have

[00:37:54] to do

[00:37:54] it,

[00:37:55] he has

[00:37:56] to make

[00:37:56] all rookie

[00:37:57] team,

[00:37:58] and he

[00:37:58] also has

[00:37:59] to make

[00:37:59] the rookies

[00:38:01] like,

[00:38:01] the first

[00:38:02] year or

[00:38:02] the second

[00:38:03] year,

[00:38:03] the rookie

[00:38:04] game that

[00:38:04] they used

[00:38:05] to have,

[00:38:05] or still

[00:38:06] have,

[00:38:06] so they

[00:38:07] have the

[00:38:07] rookie and

[00:38:08] sophomore

[00:38:08] game every

[00:38:09] single year,

[00:38:10] so if you're

[00:38:11] part of that

[00:38:12] group,

[00:38:14] this gets

[00:38:14] you to

[00:38:15] this thing

[00:38:15] that I'm

[00:38:16] about to

[00:38:16] talk about,

[00:38:17] or if

[00:38:18] you are

[00:38:18] able to

[00:38:19] hit a

[00:38:20] regular season

[00:38:21] award,

[00:38:22] let's say

[00:38:22] you make

[00:38:23] all defensive

[00:38:25] player after

[00:38:26] your first

[00:38:27] year,

[00:38:28] or you make

[00:38:29] most improved

[00:38:30] player,

[00:38:30] or you

[00:38:31] make all

[00:38:32] NBA,

[00:38:32] or whatever

[00:38:33] the case

[00:38:34] may be,

[00:38:35] if you

[00:38:35] get one

[00:38:36] of these

[00:38:37] awards,

[00:38:38] this now

[00:38:39] locks you

[00:38:40] into what

[00:38:41] I call

[00:38:41] cap relief,

[00:38:43] now,

[00:38:44] the first

[00:38:45] extension,

[00:38:46] with this

[00:38:47] particular

[00:38:47] player,

[00:38:48] you would

[00:38:49] receive a

[00:38:50] 15%

[00:38:52] cap relief

[00:38:52] if he

[00:38:53] hit two

[00:38:57] determining

[00:38:57] factors,

[00:38:58] so you

[00:38:59] have to

[00:38:59] have two

[00:38:59] things that

[00:39:00] make this

[00:39:01] work,

[00:39:02] okay,

[00:39:03] so you

[00:39:04] make an

[00:39:04] all NBA

[00:39:05] team,

[00:39:05] or defensive

[00:39:06] player of

[00:39:07] the year,

[00:39:07] or all

[00:39:08] defensive

[00:39:08] team,

[00:39:09] all rookie

[00:39:10] team,

[00:39:11] you make

[00:39:12] a whatever,

[00:39:13] those things

[00:39:14] count for

[00:39:15] this type

[00:39:16] of cap

[00:39:17] relief,

[00:39:18] so on

[00:39:19] his first

[00:39:19] extension,

[00:39:20] he gets,

[00:39:22] you get

[00:39:22] 15%

[00:39:24] if he's

[00:39:24] a first

[00:39:25] round pick

[00:39:25] and he

[00:39:26] reaches these

[00:39:27] parameters,

[00:39:29] now,

[00:39:30] if it's

[00:39:30] a second

[00:39:30] round pick,

[00:39:31] you get

[00:39:32] 10%,

[00:39:32] it's going

[00:39:33] to be

[00:39:34] harder for

[00:39:34] the second

[00:39:35] rounder to

[00:39:35] do this,

[00:39:36] but he

[00:39:36] could,

[00:39:37] obviously,

[00:39:37] we've seen

[00:39:37] other guys

[00:39:38] do this,

[00:39:39] most improved

[00:39:40] player,

[00:39:41] things of

[00:39:41] that nature,

[00:39:42] so,

[00:39:42] that's

[00:39:43] the first

[00:39:44] extension,

[00:39:45] now,

[00:39:47] let's say

[00:39:47] you keep

[00:39:48] Reed

[00:39:48] Shepard

[00:39:51] for the

[00:39:51] second extension,

[00:39:52] which is not

[00:39:53] the rookie

[00:39:54] max extension,

[00:39:55] now,

[00:39:55] this is the

[00:39:55] real extension,

[00:39:56] right,

[00:39:57] so,

[00:39:58] Reed Shepard

[00:40:01] goes through

[00:40:01] his career,

[00:40:03] he is,

[00:40:04] went through

[00:40:04] the first

[00:40:05] contract,

[00:40:05] now,

[00:40:06] he's at

[00:40:06] the second

[00:40:06] contract,

[00:40:08] now,

[00:40:09] does he

[00:40:10] need to

[00:40:11] have

[00:40:12] something on

[00:40:13] his resume

[00:40:13] to create

[00:40:15] this,

[00:40:15] yes,

[00:40:15] he needs

[00:40:16] to have

[00:40:16] continued

[00:40:17] this process,

[00:40:18] you have

[00:40:19] to make

[00:40:20] some sort

[00:40:21] of all

[00:40:21] NBA team,

[00:40:22] all defensive

[00:40:24] teams,

[00:40:24] something like

[00:40:25] that,

[00:40:25] to create

[00:40:27] these type

[00:40:28] of relief

[00:40:29] parameters in

[00:40:31] the extension,

[00:40:32] but if Reed

[00:40:33] Shepard was

[00:40:33] able to do

[00:40:34] that,

[00:40:34] become all

[00:40:35] NBA,

[00:40:38] or become

[00:40:39] all defensive

[00:40:39] player,

[00:40:40] or win the

[00:40:41] clutch of the

[00:40:42] year award,

[00:40:43] or MVP,

[00:40:44] or whatever the

[00:40:44] case may be,

[00:40:45] he would then

[00:40:47] be in line

[00:40:48] for his

[00:40:49] extension,

[00:40:49] and then

[00:40:50] they would

[00:40:50] get 25%

[00:40:52] cap relief

[00:40:53] off that

[00:40:54] number,

[00:40:56] now,

[00:40:58] the third

[00:40:59] contract,

[00:40:59] which is the

[00:41:00] legacy player,

[00:41:01] legacy player,

[00:41:03] he's been a

[00:41:04] good player

[00:41:04] his whole time,

[00:41:06] so we're

[00:41:07] talking about

[00:41:07] the Steph

[00:41:07] Currys,

[00:41:08] we're talking

[00:41:08] about before

[00:41:09] Klay Thompson

[00:41:10] got traded,

[00:41:11] all these

[00:41:12] guys,

[00:41:13] if you're

[00:41:14] with your

[00:41:14] team for the

[00:41:15] third contract,

[00:41:16] your team

[00:41:17] receives a

[00:41:18] 35%

[00:41:20] cap relief

[00:41:22] for a

[00:41:23] first rounder,

[00:41:24] if it's a

[00:41:25] second rounder,

[00:41:25] it'd be 30%,

[00:41:26] if it was the

[00:41:27] second contract,

[00:41:28] for that second

[00:41:29] rounder,

[00:41:29] it'd be 20%,

[00:41:30] so it's 15,

[00:41:32] 25,

[00:41:32] and 35

[00:41:33] for your

[00:41:34] first rounder,

[00:41:35] it's 10,

[00:41:36] 20,

[00:41:37] and 30

[00:41:38] for your

[00:41:39] second rounder,

[00:41:40] this encourages

[00:41:41] teams to build

[00:41:42] dynasties,

[00:41:43] and reduce

[00:41:44] star movement

[00:41:46] that frustrate

[00:41:47] fans,

[00:41:48] now also,

[00:41:49] I think this

[00:41:50] also,

[00:41:51] you can say,

[00:41:52] how does this

[00:41:52] help to trade

[00:41:53] them,

[00:41:53] it'll obviously

[00:41:54] give you more

[00:41:55] room in your

[00:41:57] cap to be able

[00:41:58] to do things,

[00:41:59] the other thing

[00:42:00] that it does

[00:42:01] is this,

[00:42:02] let's say for

[00:42:03] some reason,

[00:42:05] Memphis has a

[00:42:06] guy,

[00:42:06] we'll take

[00:42:07] Ja,

[00:42:07] okay,

[00:42:08] now this is

[00:42:10] all hypothetical,

[00:42:12] this has not

[00:42:13] happened,

[00:42:13] but

[00:42:13] Ja,

[00:42:15] Ja was

[00:42:16] all rookie,

[00:42:18] made an

[00:42:18] all star,

[00:42:19] all these

[00:42:20] things,

[00:42:20] whatever,

[00:42:22] let's say

[00:42:22] Ja was

[00:42:23] traded to

[00:42:24] Atlanta,

[00:42:26] right,

[00:42:27] for Trey

[00:42:28] Young,

[00:42:28] now,

[00:42:29] you could

[00:42:30] take

[00:42:32] those two

[00:42:32] guys,

[00:42:34] trade them,

[00:42:35] and they

[00:42:36] would still

[00:42:36] fit their

[00:42:37] criteria,

[00:42:37] now they're

[00:42:38] playing on

[00:42:38] different teams,

[00:42:40] now you can

[00:42:41] only designate

[00:42:42] one for this

[00:42:43] situation,

[00:42:44] can't have

[00:42:45] five guys

[00:42:46] doing this,

[00:42:47] you can only

[00:42:48] designate

[00:42:48] one,

[00:42:49] and

[00:42:51] it has to

[00:42:52] be obviously

[00:42:52] your dude,

[00:42:54] that's the

[00:42:55] only way to

[00:42:55] do it,

[00:42:56] but you can

[00:42:56] designate one,

[00:42:57] you could

[00:42:57] designate your

[00:42:58] sixth man,

[00:42:59] you could

[00:42:59] designate your

[00:43:00] second guy,

[00:43:01] whatever it is,

[00:43:02] you can only

[00:43:03] get one,

[00:43:04] but once

[00:43:04] you get

[00:43:05] him,

[00:43:05] you have

[00:43:06] all these

[00:43:07] competitive

[00:43:09] advantages

[00:43:10] to keeping

[00:43:11] him,

[00:43:11] so I

[00:43:13] think this

[00:43:14] is something

[00:43:15] that is

[00:43:16] worthwhile,

[00:43:17] so this

[00:43:18] has been

[00:43:18] the Three

[00:43:18] Wishes

[00:43:19] podcast,

[00:43:20] I want to

[00:43:20] thank Soraya

[00:43:21] for all her

[00:43:21] help,

[00:43:22] and I want

[00:43:23] to wish you

[00:43:23] guys a

[00:43:24] happy new

[00:43:25] year,

[00:43:25] we will be

[00:43:26] back on this

[00:43:26] feed on

[00:43:27] Friday,

[00:43:28] best part

[00:43:28] of you is

[00:43:29] you,

[00:43:29] make sure

[00:43:30] that you

[00:43:30] surround

[00:43:31] yourself with

[00:43:31] people who

[00:43:32] are going to

[00:43:33] be additive

[00:43:33] to your

[00:43:34] light,

[00:43:35] go out and

[00:43:36] do some

[00:43:36] good in

[00:43:36] this world,

[00:43:38] dos.
